Come on, love me for the money

WHO: The Job Fair and You!
WHERE: A small park near City Hall
WHEN: Today
WARNINGS: Capitalism?
SUMMARY: It's the job fair. Come one, come all.
FORMAT: Para to start then whatever

It's the most wonderful time of the year. The sun is shining, the mosquitoes are biting, and it's time to think about what the hell you're doing to do with your life now that the summer is winding down. Which is probably why you've ended up at the City Hall sponsored First Semi-Annual Job Fair Spectacular.

The small park has been pretty much taken over by this event. Tables for each company/group that signed up are in rows with either a representative to speak with or a held down stack of promotional materials for any interested parties to pick up. Good luck, job hunters.

[[ooc: Each group that signed up in the OOC post will get a thread below. Even if there are only fliers there, feel free to leave a comment to let the player who runs the company know yours is interested. People manning booth, just start a thread under your group's heading with a description of what's up. Feel free to bump into people and just generally interact as well. If you have a group you'd like to add that you didn't sign up on the ooc post, feel free to add them! April did literally no vetting. Everyone is welcome.]]

[ Tony could play it off so easily, barely acknowledging OsCorp, but his eyes flicked in that direction, jaw clenched slightly, and the it was gone.

Well, saying he didn't like the CEO was putting it mildly. He only shifted a glance toward Xanatos Enterprises, before moving on.
]

Well, I'm honored you came looking to StarkTech. I can understand the feeling on heroics, although we definitely don't discriminate whether you do or don't spend your off hours trying to stop a few muggers. I do it myself from time to time.

[ Well, more like constantly, but he tried to limit exposure to the Iron Man side of things, if at all possible. ]

Well, Miss Starr, what can Starktech do for you, is what I'm starting to ask. I'm starting to think you could do a lot for whatever company you decided to work for.

[ She catches it. It might have been there for a second, but superhuman reflexes help with noticing even the tiniest details. ]

Seriously? [ She sounds skeptical; now who's judging a book by its cover? ] That doesn't get in the way of the job? [ God, she feels so sorry for him because it really does. ]

I'm browsing right now, trying to see what imPort businesses are around, but Starktech looks it's long settled its roots in. Always a good sign.

I have the advantage of being here for four years. It's been long enough to settle in and make sure we have a heck of a business going. It helps that we've been working to integrate both native and import minds to come up with work that's going to benefit this place as a whole.

[ He gestured, something meant to be flippant. ]

And no, superheroics doesn't really get in the way. After all, it'd be rather hypocritical of me to keep people from doing what they do when I spend my off-hours in a suit of armor, don't you think?

Four years is a long... long time to be away from home. [ She says, a little more solemnly now. It's a depressing thought she can't seem to shake away just yet. ] Is that so? I've heard the natives haven't taken to us foreigners completely.

Haha, I guess so.

[ So his identity is public, too. She'll be reading up on him ASAP. How does he manage it, though? That's something she's curious about. ]

Believe me, I know it. [ There's a slight tone in his voice, the sound that he knows how long it's been. He can feel it, the moment when this place feels just as home as the place he came from. He smiles through it, but it's obviously insincere. Who could be happy to be here, after all. ]

But really, some natives want to work with us, some don't. Honestly, you invest enough, and you put in enough money, and they're willing to work with us. I've had plenty who were more than happy to take the job, even if they don't like imports anyway.

I think the best way to bring people around is to do everything we can to show them what we can bring to the table. Having a company that has some of the best and the brightest helps.

Money's a powerful motivator. [ She nods, putting on a smile once more. ] I like the way you think. At Starrware we strove for that attitude among our company and the people around us.

[ She's optimistic she'll find similar people here in this world. It's just putting in the time and work into it that she needs to do. ]

I'm really glad to have had this conversation with the CEO. [ It makes her feel pretty good about imPorts taking matters into their own hands. ] A few people I've spoken to make it sound as if us imPorts are more a nuisance than anything else.

That depends on who you talk to. Even among imports its easy to get wrapped up into that mentality, especially if you've been here a while. Especially if you're from a world where people don't have superpowers.

Seeing New York City lose a borough back home is a tragedy, but we've learned to handle it, and compartmentalize it. Here, it hasn't been that long.

Four years isn't nearly enough time to learn how to handle this sort of thing.

[ Tony Stark, CEO, Superhero, and Director of SHIELD. He held out a hand to her, a slight smile on his face. ]

I'm always happy to talk business, or anything else. [ The return of that flirty smile, it couldn't disappear for long. ] But let me know if you look our way. I'm sure you would do well.

Lose a borough? [ She's lucky enough that hasn't happened to her, but she keeps a close eye on things back home.

Oh, there's that look again. She smirks, although she's really not here to play around. ]
I'm all about business, Mr. Stark. [ She takes his hand and shakes. ]

Thank you for your time.
liverletdie: (Oh I like this)

Well, my world's a little unique. A lot of trouble, a lot of the time. I like to think we keep the damage to a minimum, but things can happen, unfortunately. Nobody's perfect, so we do the best we can.

[ He nodded, and when he let go of her hand, he didn't let it linger. If she spoke to him again, she'd figure out quickly enough the flirting didn't stop, but there was no presumption, either. It was just the way some people were, and he could do it while talking quantum physics, too. ]

If you want my time again in the future, feel free to ask. And if you're looking to StarkTech for anything else, I'm sure we'd have what you're looking for.

[ And he slipped her a business card, or rather, held it out for her to take. The blank underside had a different number printed in precise, faint numbers. ]

This one has a better number to get ahold of me at, if there's anything you need. I know how important networking is.
