[ jenny quantum had, in fact, been getting a little taller. she was a healthy sixteen year old girl after all-- and six months was a long time. her hair had gotten long enough that it needs to be tied back into a short tail at the back of her head. and she looks older somehow. maybe that's what prison does to young girls or what six months without powers does to the spirit of the century-- or maybe that's just jenny quantum, always growing up too fast.

but at least she's become progressively more well-read. there's not much to do besides read. books, more letters from her growing cult following, whatever. she spends most of her time in her cell, alone, absorbing words. when her visitors come to meet her in the visiting room, they'll probably find her waiting over an open book. a classic from larsa, maybe, or one of kanaya's lesbian vampire romances. ]

[If this was an attempt to get Billy out of the house, it was apparently working. This wasn't the first time he'd gone for a group session with Jenny and maybe in a way it did seem mildly better than sitting around.

Alternatively, maybe Jenny swearing at him and telling him he was a moron was better than the looks of pity he'd been meriting lately.]

[ it's julian that jenny is expecting-- he's one of her constants now, and has been, these past several months. her other two guests though, they receive a pointedly skeptical look when she's walked in by the guards. she doesn't know what the point of this group visit is-- she isn't really on what one would call good terms with either kanaya or billy-- but she doesn't respond with aggression, not at first.

still, her voice is a bit dry when she sits down to greet them: ]

So. What's the fucking occasion?

[ Julian shoots another warning look at Kanaya before they sit down. He knows this means something to her. She's only pissed because she thinks Jenny isn't listening to her. And Billy, well, he and Jenny have a hell of a lot in common. Billy had been warmer to the idea of coming here, though; he'd basically had to drag Kanaya by her coattails.

But at least they were here. He lifts his eyebrows at Jenny. ]

Oh, you know. It's your demiversary. Six months done, we figured we'd have a party. Jenny, I think you're familiar with Kanaya and Billy. [ Indicating each of them in turn. ] We're here to keep you company.

[glowsferatu]

[ kanaya doesn't say anything and she doesn't even begin to sit down, she just grunts her acknowledgement with a nod. she's decided she shouldn't bother saying anything that will only fall on deaf ears. ]

[Not exactly the best thing to celebrate, but hey.]

How are you doing?

[ jenny leans back in her chair, draping one arm over the back of it casually as she eyes the others from across the table. her body language seems unconcerned, relaxed even, but there's a sharpness to her stare that suggests she's not expecting this to go nice and neat. ]

Prison's still loads of fun. [ the dryness hasn't left her voice yet. she gestures around herself, as if to indicate her grey kingdom. ] As you can fucking see.

[ and now, a bit confrontationally: ]

So. Who's gonna tell me why we dragged along Magic Boy and the troll who hates me?

[ Julian sighs. Kanaya’s not making this easy. Actually she’s making this even less easy than he thought she would. At least Billy is making an effort. He wonders if something went down between Jenny and Kanaya that he doesn’t know about. It’s possible. They’re both capable of starting something. ]

Kanaya doesn’t hate you. [ At this point there’s every chance he’s wrong about that. He’s saying it anyway. ] You two need to work out whatever the hell’s wrong with you both, because you were friends. Both of you. So that’s why she’s here.

And Billy’s here because I think you should know each other. You met once already, right?

[ Through Terry, who apparently also thought they should know each other. Maybe because their powers were similar. Well, if that’s all they have in common, at least it’s a starting point. ]

[ she shoots jenny a look. she never wanted to be here to begin with, and certainly hadn't promised to make it easy. ]

Don't pretend to know even the faintest hint of what my hatred looks like. [ it's far too loaded a word to her to tolerate hearing it tossed around so casually, especially assumed from her from someone she doesn't think has ever given a single thought to her feelings.

her gaze shifts back to julian. if anyone wants to do the talking here, he can. she has no problem talking to him, even if she doesn't always care for the things he says. ]

I'm not the one who ever forgot we were friends. I don't see why I should have to be included in this effort when I never stopped making mine.

We've talked a couple of times, yeah. I wanted to see how you were doing.

[It's awkward to say anything after what Kanaya says but he tries to offer it like a way to calm the situation a bit - though it's looking like that might not really be an option if the two of them have relationship issues this bad.]
