Kiryu checked over the contents in his bag one more time before starting the engine and driving off.  He'd have to make a couple trips, since there was no way he could  carry everything with him on one run.  That was fine; it gave him more opportunity to check out the damage.

He supposed he should probably feel bad for almost ignoring what had happened here and going about his business.  Especially since his business involved handing out presents to people.  He could almost hear the Signer brat sniping in his ear now.

Well, too bad for her.  She could just hate him some more then.  He had friends to give presents to.

"I suppose so. It's been confusing, the last few days." She closes her eyes for a moment before looking back at him, her gaze calm but slightly curious.

"Kiryu, what are you doing?"

Kiryu frowns a little at that question, shrugging and looking equally curious.

"You're going to have to elaborate a bit more for me to answer that."

She shrugs slightly in return, then gestures to what seems to be everything. Things. Things in general.

"This. All of this. Why are you doing this?"

"Do I need a reason?" He looks away, his expression tightening. "That's a really hard question to answer, you know."

He hadn't really thought about it. Just that he wanted to do it. Which was really how he ran his life; if he wanted to do something, he'd do it. Usually that something benefited him in some way. Even buying things for people benefited him a little.

But he doubted Aki wanted to hear that.

"I wanted to. If you mean you specifically...'cause we're a lot alike. And Rudger isn't here breathing down my neck, telling me what to do. And you're an interesting person, Izayoi-san."

Aki, meanwhile, wanted explanations for his behavior, which was as far as she was concerned bizarre. After all, the world had just exploded; she wanted to be able to make sense of something. What, exactly, seemed somewhat irrelevant at this point, she just wanted - needed - something to fit into the place she had assigned to it, and nothing was. Not even this was because why did he still like her, she'd been nothing but antagonistic. Mind you, this was true of the vast majority of the people in the City, but Kiryu was the one there at the moment.

His answer left her unable to find an answer for what seemed to her an age. "But you... I....

"I don't understand." She really didn't - or she did, in a way, and that just made things worse.

Well...that didn't help. It was hard for him to explain what went on in his head anyway, but he certainly needed more direction than that.

And Aki wasn't exactly the person he was most comfortable spilling his secrets to. As for being antagonistic...well, he lived with Saitou Hajime of all people, and had lived with Jack before too. Antagonistic was nothing new.

"But me what? Haven't you ever done something just 'cause you wanted to, without worrying what someone else might think?"

Aki smiled without humor. It really was rather funny how similar the two of them could be. It's not exactly something you'd expect, after all.

"What I did never really mattered, I knew what others would think. Only... only Divine was different, except then I came here and.... Nothing makes sense anymore and nobody acts like they're supposed to. So I don't know. I don't understand."

Kiryu frowned at that. that was probably the farthest from his beliefs a person could get, unless that person's name was Ruka.

"What you do always matters," he said, actually looking completely serious for once. "You only have one life; you have to live it to the fullest. And what you do will always matter to someone. And it should always matter to you."

Of course, he couldn't keep that expression for long and started smirking again. "As for everyone acting different...there's a lot of people around who can do cool stuff. Some of it isn't that great if it isn't controlled. Obviously, if Godzilla's any indication. But I think a lot of them are used to dealing with it."

And here she'd meant that people's reactions would be the same no matter what she did - though honestly the alternate interpretation wasn't entirely off either.

"What I did mattered, but only because they wished that I wasn't doing it. And as for it mattering to me - I'm... not used to that." What he said next made her stare some for a second. "Wha- no, not that way. That's odd, but... oh.

"It's... Yes, but...." Aki really, really wasn't used to being accepted and wasn't quite sure how do deal with the fact that she was. It was... confusing.

"Yeah, I know that feeling pretty well." That was why he was dead, after all; his supposed trusted team-mates disagreeing with what he was trying to do. "And you'll just have to slowly get use to it mattering to you, I guess."

Kiryu's quiet for a moment, thinking about all of that. Obviously, they weren't thinking exactly the same way.

He didn't think the same way as a lot of people. How had he ended up being the counselor for two people in two days? He really didn't know how to deal with it. That had been Yuusei's job.

"I can't read your thoughts. You'll have to say a little more than that. What way did you mean?
