[open] For Your Entertainment
WHO: Open to people in the general area of the MAC building.
WHERE: MAC and the surrounding block.
WHEN: January 6th, approx 12PM
WARNINGS: Excessive use of Adam Lambert and also excessive dancing/singing.
SUMMARY: Ryan doesn't want to be back in the City. So he's just going to make everyone in the MAC miserable with him.
FORMAT: Either is fine, I'm terribly unpicky.
The situation was very simple: Ryan did not like being pulled out of roles to be recast in roles he no longer fit or wanted to fit. His place as "hero" of a faux New York City was one that he no longer wanted to fill and he was being expected to fill it again despite the fact that he had been truly awful at it the first time around. So he was going to do things differently. It wasn't his City and he didn't care about it anymore.
The script told him to be a hero. He was going to be an annoyance. A trickster concerned with nothing but his own amusement.
And to start, he was going to cause some chaos. It wouldn't be anything the City hadn't been through before - just a little musical disruption - but the intensity of it would probably be unlike anything they had ever experienced.
Ryan was on the roof of the MAC building, hooking speakers up to a extension cord that was plugged into a outlet. The speakers would disappear in about four hours, as would the microphone, because there was no point in spending money when using his powers would ensure everything would disappear and there wouldn't be evidence. Suddenly, Ryan was glad that he'd played around with his powers so much when he'd been in the City previously. It made it much easier to set up everything.
The CD slid into the stereo system and Ryan pressed play, a smirk playing on his lips. The music blasted behind him and he took his place at the microphone.
"So hot out the box,
Can we pick up the pace?
Turn it up, heat it up -
I need to be entertained.
Push the limit, are you with it?
Baby, don't be afraid.
I'ma hurt 'ya real good, baby"
[ooc: notes! Unfortunately, the closer you come to Ryan the more power he has over you. He's maxing out his powers, so unless your character would never in a million years play along/have powers that counteract Ryan's, sorry. You've been recruited as backup dancers/singers. Feel free to try and stop Ryan, but know that he's shielded himself and he's likely to make you do something embarrassing. Other than that, have fun! It's easier that way.]

"Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules
Of someone else's game!"
And hell, if his musical powers aren't enough, Troy's just backing up his words with a little bit of jock-like physical exertion, moving to yank out the chords of one of the amps before chucking it unceremoniously over the side of the MAC building.
no subject
"Too late for second-guessing,
Too late to go back to sleep -
It's time to trust my instincts . . .
Close my eyes - and leap!"
Ryan jumps on one of the speakers, contemplating exactly what would happen if he jumped off the building and then discarding the idea. Too messy.
"It's time to try
Defying gravity . . .
I think I'll try
Defying gravity . . .
And you can't pull me down!"
no subject
You're having delusions of grandeur!"
That's it, he's done. Troy's spent a good couple of months in this place keeping his squeaky clean image, and the last thing he needs is Ryan screwing everything up, and power battles or not, he gets the feeling he may just be encouraging the situation by singing along.
"Evans! Dude."
no subject
Ryan sat on the edge of the speaker and crossed his arms over his chest while he waited for the incumbent speech on doing good, working it out, being all in it together . . .
no subject
"... You caused-- wait, what? What are you even doing here?"
no subject
It figured, really. It figured that Troy would always be completely and utterly wrapped in his relationship with Gabriella to the point where he probably never even bothered to ask about anyone else. Ryan rolled his eyes.
"As for what I was doing here, I was making an entrance. In style."
no subject
Scratching idly at the back of his neck for a second, Bolton offers up a tiny shrug of his shoulders because he still has noooo idea what's going on, "People don't really appreciate the singing thing around here so much, dude."
no subject
There's a beat and then Ryan looks back over to Troy. He's the same Troy, really, and they're not friends. However, Ryan is aware of the importance of having friends and Troy is probably the closest thing he has to one at that second so Ryan tries to put aside whatever deep-seated, hierarchical dislike he has for Troy.
"Look," Ryan says softly, "I could pretend to be normal, but that's a role I play too often. I'm tired of it. If I'm going to be pulled away from the real New York into this one, then I am going to be who I want because it's stupid to put on a mask when I don't need one. It's not something you would understand."
no subject
"No, man, I get it," he replies lightly, staring off to the side, "Be yourself. That's like, the most important thing you can do, sure. It's just... creating chaos is kinda what the bad dudes do."
no subject
"Troy, if causing chaos was something only villains did then Mary Poppins might as well be a villain."
no subject
With a soft snort of a laugh, he's resorting to kicking his feet childishly against the wall he's sat on, "Whatever. It's pretty cool to see you here, dude."
no subject
Because he isn't quite sure how much time has passed, Ryan stands up to avoid the speaker disappearing from underneath him. It had happened once, with a stool, and while Chad had thought it was hilarious, Ryan hadn't. The damage to his dignity had been irreparable.
"So what have you been doing all by your lonesome in the City, Troy? You can't just play basketball all the time."
no subject
"It's been pretty crazy, man. I've only been here for like, a few months and there's been zombies and bombs and everything. I guess I've mostly just been keeping outta the way of that sort of thing though, and just making some new friends, working on my powers, getting jobs, shooting hoops... that sorta thing."
no subject
Because he doesn't think it's important, Ryan doesn't elaborate on how he tried to drown Godzilla in smoothie. He figures Troy will ask about it on his own time. Like usual.
Instead, Ryan stretches. He's a little sore from connecting things and everything else and it means he doesn't have to listen too closely to Troy. Besides, stretching is important.
"What are your powers this time?"
no subject
"They're kinda weird. I sing and weird stuff happens that link with the song. I set my hand on fire the other week. And uh, I teleported myself a few thousand miles away by accident. Just stuff like that. I seriously need to practice more though." Because really, right now, he's mostly just one big massive fuck up. But at least he can switch the power on and off better now.
no subject
Ryan nods absently as he takes a sip of the smoothie.
"Practice is always good."
no subject
"I guess you learned how to use yours from before you left? How was home? Did you see Gabriella? Was she okay?"
no subject
The mention of Gabriella make him want to sigh heavily and shake his head. For a moment he debates telling Troy she got into a car accident or left him but then he realizes that it's likely to set off some horrendously emo musical number. So he tells the truth.
"I haven't seen Gabriella since the party she threw us before we all went off to college. I don't get much time between dancing my ass off and sleeping to go places."
It's the smallest lie, but it will satisfy Troy and then Ryan doesn't have to admit he was sleeping with their mutual friend and honestly, he wasn't invested in their relationship like every other person at East High.
no subject
"That's cool. Good party." Teeehehehee, is that a blush he's getting? Troy Bolton, as Ryan no doubt worked out years ago, has the mental age of a five year old when it comes to anything beyond kissing. He can't help being slow and steady in relationships, but you almost can't blame Gabbi for breaking up with him quite as many times as she has, even if she can't get rid of the trailing puppy dog for long.
"I really miss her right now. And even Chad's dumb face, cause like, it's totally getting boring playing b-ball one on no-one for like three months straight."
no subject
But Ryan tries not to think about that too often.
"Chad was here, before," Ryan says in a clear stage whisper, "not that it matters. It's cold out, we should go back inside."
Though Ryan could create a bubble of warmth for himself, though he was wearing a jacket, suddenly he didn't want to be outside in the vastness of a City. The possibilities of such a stage were frightening.
no subject
"Sounds like I missed all the fun," he replies with a small smile, hopping off the wall he was perched on, and turning away to squint out at the view. He likes it up on the roof. It's not the first time he's been up there. It's like a his very own city version of his tree house.
"A'ight, man. I've got like, space in my place if you need company or anything."
no subject
Ryan says it like it doesn't matter because he tends to say everything like it doesn't matter, but in all honesty he's glad that there is at least one person in the City that knows hears the world the same way he does, even if it's not his favourite person.
Eventually, Troy will pick up on that. At least Ryan hopes so.
no subject
"Dude, it's totally fine. Guys like us have got to stick together, right?" Without many other musical universes around, this City has felt rather quiet ever since he's been there.
no subject
School spirit is a goddamn STD, that's the problem. But even though he kind of hates himself for saying it, Ryan is smiling. There is something to be said about having something familiar around and even though Ryan won't say it, he's glad for it.
But it really isn't going to stop him from abusing his powers whenever he feels like it. Ryan makes a note that the next time he creates a little mayhem, it'll have to be far away from Troy.
no subject
"C'mon then, Evans, lets get you in the warm." With a sweeping motion, the jocks gesturing for Ryan to head down from the roof. "What're you gonna do without matching coats and stuff?"
