[Maza's in her hospital room, grumpy, headache-y, and creeped out by the note on those flowers that got delivered to her room.]

[ This is all way too bewildering for her. Seriously, this is probably a lucid dream or something. ]

[ He seems to mockingly contemplate this for a moment. ] Oh.

[ Aand he looks around the room for a second before landing his eyes on the flowers and other things left for her. He looks on curiously at the blue ones that seem to have a note tucked inside. ]

[ God she is so confused, and not just entirely on the head injury. ]

I'm... not sure. I should arrest you, shouldn't I. And you're just sitting there surveying my creepy get well presents like nothing happened, so are you sure this isn't a dream or someone playing a prank.

[ Fff he shouldn't be so amused by how bewildered she is right now, but he can't help it. The look on her face is just too much.

Wait what-- ] Creepy? [ He looks back over to the flowers, getting up and looking them over more carefully. ] I take it you don't know the sender?

[ You know, since he probably is a dream, she might as well just relax and go with it. And if he's not... well then, that's something to consider much later down the road. Right now, she's got plausible deniability. ]

Yeah, go look at the card.

[ He pauses a second to look back at her, before plucking the note off the blue vase and reading the note over -- which probably took longer than the normal person might, as he has to translate it in his head (damn Roman letters) ]

... Curious.

[ She scowls at the card. ]

I've either got a secret admirer or there's some creep who thinks this is funny. Either way, it bothers me. I was going to keep the card and send it off to the lab to see if there would be prints or anything...

I would do that anyway. [ He replies a bit off-handedly, looking over the writing once more. ] ... If I didn't know better, I'd almost take a guess on who sent them.

... Someone with good taste in flowers, obviously.

[ WELP might as well say his guess out loud then, as it was probably very unlikely regardless. ] I imagine Slade is not the type to sign things, either.

... [OHGOD WHY SO CREEPY SLADE.]

Why would he send me flowers. It makes even less sense than you coming to visit me in the hospital.

[ She gets a small chuckle for that before he sets the note back down and heads back over to her, relaxing again in the seat beside her. He'd hear anyone coming before they opened the door anyway, so he wasn't too paranoid right now. ]

[ She smirks at him. ] See, if it was someone I knew, they'd just sign their name. Why would they hide their identity? And how many simple "secret admirers" decide to go with Latin?

[ He looks back at her curiously. ] Latin?

Yeah, the signature at the bottom is Latin. Uh... a dead language? Spoken by the Romans?

[ Hmm no he looks pretty much like she's speaking nonsense. ]

The Western world has only occupied Nihon a few years at most, back home. Not too long ago they had just brought in trains and iron ships.

... [ She has a very convincing subconscious, she decides. ]

Right. Well, it's a foreign, dead language. I don't know it, though. I'll have to ask around to see who does once I'm out of here.

This is the weirdest dream I've ever had. So, what comes next? Do I get an apology? Declaration of undying love or something? Do we all turn into cats now?

[ Oh my dear god he just looks at her like. she's grown another head or something AND WE ARE DEFINITELY ANSWERING NONE OF THE ABOVE QUESTIONS AT ALLhistory ]

[ And she just looks back, nonplussed. ]

Well, if you are here, I'm going to have to arrest you on spot. But if you're some bizarre figment of my imagination, there's nothing I can really do about that, is there?

[ He just tilts his head a little, looking her over noticeably, and at the hospital bed. ]

And just how were you planning to do that if you're on bed rest?

[ She scowls deeply. ] I'm lying down, not chained to the bed. [She immediately proceeds to get up but hey, dizziness after concussions can last and she wobbles a bit, but stays standing. ] See?
