[In progress]
WHO: Dick and Wally.
WHERE: Tower.
WHEN: Morning after meeting Toro after Damian's arrival.
WARNINGS: None.
SUMMARY: Lalala, this was totally Dick's night. But Wally's an awesome friend.
FORMAT: Quickpara.
[Dick had to get back to the Tower eventually. Especially after meeting Toro and realising that he was going to hurt someone seriously if he kept on going. This had really been an incredibly sucky night.
It had taken forever to fall asleep but he'd managed it, and he was totally skipping school and being an angry idiot today. There. So he wakes up late and he crawls into the kitchen to eat cereal because cereal is the best comfort food ever.
Not that he really has any comfort food. That would be girly.]

It's too late to do anything about it now though. He's pretty sure Dick must have gotten away or else there would have been more of an uproar in the Tower. He'll have to ask Dick when he gets back from school--
Or maybe not, he finds out when he walks into the kitchen.]
Hey, you okay? What happened?
no subject
Obviously, this had been wishful thinking. Dick currently hates the network and the whole idea of video posting so much. Who had ever thought it was a good idea?
He doesn't look at Wally and keep eating his cereal, although the way he's suddenly holding on the spoon and eating can completely be described as "angry". He's angrily eating. Because such a thing exists. It allows him not to bang his head against the table.]
Nothing.
no subject
He moves closer and sidles up next to Dick, almost cautiously putting his hand on Dick's shoulder. Cautious in the way someone would be if they were attempting to pet a particularly feral cat.]
Look, if you don't want to talk about it that's fine, just say so, but don't lie to me.
no subject
I wasn't trying to lie I just --
[He's looking pretty down right now.]
The Robin to Nigthwing's Batman is here, he's better than be and an ass, the end, [he states lamely.]
no subject
He looked like a real prince, all right. But there's no way he's a better Robin than you.
[He's letting go so he can sling his arm around both of Dick's shoulders in a sort of manly half-hug.]
no subject
He's still not moving, but he's not tense either. He's just... looking at the table. It had more cracks on the side than it did two days ago.]
He's Batman's son. And I landed like -- two hits [on one, shhh] before he knocked me out. And we were not hitting on each other anymore last time before he was ported out, but he doesn't remember being here.
[Inferiority complex get!]
no subject
Man, that sucks. You really shouldn't let this get to you though. You are the better Robin, it's not all about who's the better fighter.
[And he means this sincerely.]
no subject
He turns his head so he can look at Wally a bit and says affectionately,] You haven't even met him. You're so biased.
[There's a pause before he adds,] It'd just be really nice if a Robin showed up that I could beat in a fight. [Mumbled.] At least, Tim is way older.
no subject
[He gently but playfully pokes Dick's cheek with his free hand before growing somewhat more serious.]
I get what you mean though. Bart is Barr-- the Flash's grandson and I'm pretty sure he's like way faster than me. It makes me feel... [He shrugs, unable to really put it in words but Dick probably understands.]
no subject
He rolls his eyes and smiles a little more, slapping Wally's hand away from his face, also playfully.]
Yeah, I know. [Pause.] But we're the firsts. They took our names because we were just that awesome. We started legacies, here. [He's totally trying to convince himself. Shh, it's a secret.]
no subject
He grins and wriggles his fingers at Dick as if threatening to poke him again before considering what he just said.]
You're right, we totally started legacies. [He'll be trying that too because it is much nicer thinking that way.] Besides we'll outgrow these names and be awesomer.
no subject
Dick really, really hopes that this is what will happen. That he's changing his future enough that he'll really outgrow the name, get himself another one, and --
He looks a bit disappointed again, but tries not to let Wally see it. He doesn't want Wally or Roy to ever know about this.]
We will. [Uncomfortable silence! Nomnoms cereal.]
no subject
Mulling it over by himself for a small moment doesn't end up with any results so he drops his arm from Dick's shoulders to nudge his side with his elbow.]
You don't sound so convinced there, buddy.
no subject
[He shrugs and forces the next smile. What else could he say, really? 'Well my future sort of sucks but I'm working on it'? It wouldn't even help anyone to talk to Wally about it.
He's really just better off not doing so.]
It's just that with Tim being older and already getting a new identity there's this weird mix of everything. You know what I mean.
no subject
You'll do fine.
[And he sounds absolutely convinced of this. He just hopes Dick can believe it too.]
If all else fails, we'll be there to keep you on the road to awesomeness.
no subject
And making sure it's really closed by changing the topic drastically.]
I talked to Roy about Donna, by the way.
no subject
Wally blinks dumbfounded for a moment then shrugs and rolls with it.]
Really? What'd he say?
no subject
He was still dating her when he was Ported out, sorta. There was some fall through and he hadn't talked to her since the whole drug thing so he's not sure how she'd have taken it.
[He raises his eyebrows.] But, well, the Donna from the future's married to someone random, so obviously it didn't work out. It's making Roy uneasy and all. Which -- totally expected.
no subject
Yeah, she broke a lot of hearts with that little revelation. [He chuckles weakly, almost sadly.]
no subject
Don't make that face. You can't get strung on a girl, especially not if she's ten years older now.
[Dick still sucks at comforting people, obviously.] And even if I didn't know her when she was our age, she doesn't seem that amazing.
You'll find someone. [B|] Fuck broken hearts. You're not allowed to have one over this.
no subject
I know, I know. But she is amazing, you just don't know her like we do. Or did. Whatever. [Donna does seem different - growing up does that, he guesses - but she is still Donna.]
And since when do you get to say what my heart is allowed to do? [He raises an eyebrow at Dick pointedly but it's obvious he's amused.]
no subject
[He smirks.] I'm just here to try and influence forcefully.
no subject
Forcefully meaning I'll be getting more punches if I don't agree? Man, you're the greatest friend anyone could ever ask for.
no subject
Nah, I wouldn't punch you seriously over this. I'm too nice.
And you're stuck with me whether you like it or not. Sucks, uh?
no subject
Oh but of course, how could I ever doubt you?
And yes, it sucks but I think I can manage. [Will not stop grinning either.]
