Cameron Phillips. Her name is all over his journal he found in 'his' room. Her phone number is on his phone, on notebooks, on forms. So who the hell is that, and why?

Kyle blinks and completely sits up at that. "Hers. Why hers?"

"I'm sure you can think of several reasons, Captain."

A long pause. "Yeah. I'm sure I can."

"I am not your enemy here. But she would be. Please keep that in mind."

"...all right." Another pause. "Why would he be looking for you?"

"Because I am his friend. Because I protect him." Because she must be gone in order for him to have gone through TDE alone; there's no way she would have allowed it.

"All right." He seriously doubts his ability to stop this kid, but. He will try.

"Thank you." Thinking. "It will probably be good for him to be there."

"Really? In the middle of a war."

"As opposed to living his life in preparation for one, yes."

"Why do you think that?"

"Because he was not happy."

Shaking his head, slightly. "And he'll be happy here? There?"

She can't see that headshake, you know. "There is a better opportunity, perhaps. I realize how this sounds."

"Why is there? How is there?" He wonder if she really does.

"If he has moved forward past Judgment Day then the burden he has been raised his entire life to take on is suddenly gone. He will have a chance to exist beyond his predetermined fate. It is not the ideal situation, but it is the most plausible one."

"Some people don't react well to their life changing so suddenly and unexpectedly."

"Neither will he; still, he is used to it."

He thinks about that for a moment. "Yeah. It sounds like it."
