Cameron has no idea that Kyle's been affected by the timeswitch. Mostly because she's spent the entire time since River disappeared at home, either working or reading the network or just...doing nothing. Letting information in but not bothering to evaluate any of it.

The whole exercise was starting to seem pointless. She couldn't control the radar in her mind constantly searching for John. She wasn't preoccupied enough to ignore it. All her projects seems useless when the others involved kept vanishing.

It hurt and she didn't care to pay much attention to that, either.

But when her phone rings, she answers. Very few people have this number to start. "This is Cameron." She sounds tired.

Kyle, her Kyle at least, no doubt felt insanely bad about that and was almost certainly trying to think of ways to help. However, he's not really here at the moment, is he?

This Kyle is, and he's...more than a little surprised at the sound of her voice. Or rather, who she sounds like. "...is it."

"Yes." That has to be the strangest answer Kyle's ever given her over the phone; Cameron debates starting a passcode call and response and thinks better of it, standing to make coffee instead. "Is everything all right, Kyle?"

He feels bad, though he's sure that's because of who she sounds like than anything else. "I don't know." It's an honest answer. "I'm at a bit of a loss."

"A loss?" She blinks, uncomprehending what exactly that means but running through a list of possibilities and narrowing them down to probabilities. Porter malfunction reaches #2. "How so?"

"I found your number. In his phone. His notebooks."

"His?" Porter malfunction now tops the list. "What is your last memory, Sergeant Reese?"

"Sergeant." Slight laugh here. "Captain. Um. Before I came here? Some kid named Connor showed up without any clothes."

"My apologies." And Porter malfunction confirmed. In no record can Cameron recall Kyle getting a promotion to captain. "Most likely from TDE use. In a large number of timeline scenarios, John Connor is very crucial to the Resistance's defense and attack against Skynet."

She pauses for a moment and shifts the phone in order to pour herself coffee. "Before this conversation continues I feel the need to inform you that I am not Allison Young, if that name means anything to you."

"Yeah. He...seemed to assume we'd know who he was." Waiting a beat. "We didn't, if that needed clarifying."

He thinks about that for a moment. About why she'd 'need' to inform him. He's not sure he likes it. "I kind of figured. That you weren't."

"Displacement causes alternate timelines to occur. If he left as a teenager, then it would make sense that no one would know the adult he was supposed to become." It makes her think too. Wondering why he'd do that.

"All right." She doesn't sound apologetic about it. She isn't and she has no intention of saying outright that she killed the girl.

That? Is probably the best idea ever. Hell, he'll just assume it's one of those alternate timeline occurances. "I see. Yeah. He was...a little out of it. Seeing my brother. And her."

"I take it you didn't get a chance to speak with him? To learn the events that lead up to his displacement?"

If she's lucky, she'll never need to bring up Allison Young again.

"No. I'd just gotten back. Recon." Lets hope she's very, very lucky.

"Thank you for explaining." So much hoping. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Uh...sure?" A pause while he thinks. "I don't know. Like I said, I'm kind of at a loss here. Sorry."

"There is no need to apologize. Have you spoken with Sarah Connor?"

"Yeah. She's...not happy?"

"The version of you from this timeline is close to her. I suspect the unanticipated change has upset her."

Unfortunately Cameron is the last person on the planet to be able to help Sarah with that.

"Yeah, that's...how it seemed." And Kyle is sorry about that too, really. "I don't think it'll be long."

"You don't think it will be long?" She doesn't understand what that means.

"He left a note. In a book. Rainbows all over it."

Cameron makes a soft 'ah' sound. "Limited precognitive ability."

"Yeah." He guesses, anyway. "so you won't have to put up with me for long."

"I don't think anyone is putting up with you." Sounds too negative, to Cameron.
