DUEL MONSTERS TOURNAMENT ♠ ROUND 1
WHO: ANYONE AND EVERYONE
WHERE: Central Park and Harbor
WHEN: Saturday March, 20th early afternoon
WARNING: Swearing and card games
SUMMARY: Round 1 of the duel monster's tournament.
FORMAT: Whatever you want!
Months of planning and recreating an empire from the ground up was finally reaching its climax. Fireworks shot into the sky as the workers ran out of the way trying to avoid the large screen to which the firework stands were attached. If there was still anyone who had not heard that a Duel Monsters Tournament was being held in the city, the sights and sounds quickly informed them.
The same set up was found in the two locations. One at the center of Central Park and the other stretched next to the water by the harbor. The rules the duelists had been given told them where to meet and when to be sure they would be there for the beginning. Since Kaiba couldn’t be in two places at once, especially as he had his own duel to prepare for, a video had been pre-recorded to start the event. The screens turned on at the same time, the KaibaCorp logo flashing across the screen. It disappears to show a montage of duels fought by different monsters. Those who are paying close attention may even notice cards that Kaiba could have only found out about in the City. The montage ends with a Blue Eyes White Dragon destroying everything in its path and causing the screen to fade to white.
The blank screen suddenly changes again to a video of Kaiba. “Welcome to this City’s first chance at a Duel Monster’s Tournament!” it started. “You have had plenty of time to prepare, and now it’s time to show exactly what you can do. At the end of this announcement the tournament will officially start.
“Find your opponent and duel! The winner will go on to the next round. The loser can go home. You have all been given copies of the rules. Any cheating will be punished.”
The Kaiba in the video paused, emphasing a big-brother idea about how cheating would be caught and punished. The look changed into a smirk as he threw his hand forward and dramatically proclaimed,
“Game Start!”
(Make your own threads here for your individual duels. You can log as much of the action as you want. Remember you need to PM me with the winner of each duel before Sunday 11pm CST (whether or not the log is finished). If I don’t have a winner I will proclaim one for you to keep things moving. In case you've forgotten the brackets are here)

"So you keep saying. Care to let me prove you wrong?"
no subject
Kaiba glanced at his cards. Deciding which he would actually need to destroy this upstart. "One card face down, and La Jinn the Mystical Genie in Attack mode. Turn End."
no subject
With another look he decided just how to start out this duel. He'd show Kaiba just how strong his Black Feathers were.
"When my opponent controls a monster and I don't, I can Normal Summon this card from my hand." With a smirk he revealed his card. "I summon Black Feather - Sirocco of Dawn. Next, when there is a Black Feather monster under my control I can summon this guy." He flipped another card onto the Duel Disk.
"Come, Tuner Monster Black Feather - Gale of the Hurricane!" The winged beast appeared with a shout, settling right next to his other card. "Gale of the Hurricane's monster effect allows me to halve the attack and defense points of one of your monsters once per turn. And I choose…" He pointed at the opposing monster. "…your mystical Genie."
"Battle! Gale of the Hurricane attack La Jinn!"
no subject
"Trap card open!" Kaiba shouted, pressing the button on his duel disk to activate Negate Attack. "Your attack is stopped." The holographic attack dissipated right before reaching La Jinn.
Negate attack marked the end of a battle phase so Kaiba began his turn. "Draw!" Kaiba looked at the card he had drawn and laughed when he saw the Blue Eyes White Dragon staring back at him. He would show this upstart what a real duelist looked like.
"First, my removing one card from my hand and sending it to the graveyard I can activate Cost Down. Which brings all of my Monsters down by two levels. Then I sacrifice La Jinn to summon the Blue Eyes White Dragon!"
La Jinn disapeared and was replaced by a giant dragon that slowly unfolded to its full height and let out a roar. "Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Attack his Gale of Hurricane!"
no subject
"Now that's a challenge. You've got more or are you ending your turn already?"
no subject
"Turn end."
no subject
"My turn." he called as he drew a card, smirking as he saw just what he had drawn. it would certainly come handy.
"I activate the permanent magic card Black Whirlwind. Next I summon the Black Feather - Blizzard of the North Pole. When this card is normal summoned, I get to special summon a level four or lower Black Feather Monster from my grave in defense mode. Be reborn, Gale of the Hurricane. Additionally Black Whirlwinds effect activates. When I normal summon a Black Feather Monster I can search my deck for a Black Feather with lower attack points than the summoned monster and add it to my hand. The card that I add to my hand is BF - Jet the Blue Sky, ATK 0. Then I use the effect of Gale to halve the attack points of your Blue Eyes."
His smirk widened, it was time to reveal his trump combo. "I activate the effect of Sirocco of Dawn. Once per turn I can select one Black Feather monster and its attack points becomes equal to the total ATK of all the Black Feather's on the field. I select Sirocco."
He glanced over to the monster, watching as its attack power rose to 4500. "Battle! Sirocco of Dawn attack his Blue Eyes White Dragon!"
no subject
He growled as his Life points went down below his opponent's. He would pay for that on his next turn.
no subject
"Turn end."
no subject
"Dark Blade in attack," Kaiba declared setting his first monster of the turn down. "Then I use Monster Reborn to bring back a card from my graveyard. Come back Blue Eyes White Dragon and show him your TRUE power!"
"Blue Eyes attack his Sirocco! Dark Blade attack Gale of Hurricane!" He would take care of both of the offending monsters. He toyed with the remaining card in his hand waiting to play it until after the attack. Gale had already come back once, after it was defeated he would make sure it never did again.

"Turn End,"

Crow's eyes narrowed a bit, drawing and looking over the cards in his hand and on the field. Sure he was in a bit of a situation, but it was certainly not as bad as could have been. For a moment he wondered whether he should once again take advantage of Sirocco's effect, but then decided against that. For one because it wouldn't do to be uncreative and use the same trick twice, for another because it was really time for him to show Kaiba one of his aces.
"It's time to show you the true strength of my Black Feathers. I'm tuning my level two Blizzard of the North Pole to my level five Sirocco of Dawn!"
He reached to his card holster, drawing one of the monsters from his Extra Deck. "Darkened gales, become the wings which will soar to the heavens! Synchro Summon! Black Feather - Armored Wing!"
Then he pointed at his opponent's warrior Monster. "Armored Wing, attack Dark Blade!"
no subject
That didn't make him any happier when his Dark Blade was attacked. What the hell was a synchro summon?! He had never heard of that. But if it was an illegal move the duel disk wouldn't have displayed the hologram. The only explanation was that it had been added to his system when the deck was ranked. Damn. This duel was full of surprises.
The attack was far less debilitating than the first. Dark blade disintegrated but his Blue Eyes was still safe. Now his opponent only had one monster on the field.
"Is that all you can do?" Kaiba taunted. He'd won from worst positions.
no subject
"I still got plenty. But I'm not hasty enough to show it all in just one turn. Let me warn you though: If your dragon attacks my Armored Wing next turn, it's gonna be destroyed. Turn end."
no subject
He ignored the thoughts and started his turn. "Draw!" He smirked at the card and instantly revealed it. "I activate Pot of Greed, which allows me to add two more cards to my hand." He drew the cards and his smirk widened. "I place a card in defense and one card face down...and end my turn." He still wasn't sure if the other was telling the truth or not, but he did now that his monster couldn't defeat the Blue Eyes, if he tried his face down card would take care of that. He didn't like to play defensively, but would if it achieved his purpose.
no subject
"Draw."
His eyes flickered to the reverse card and the defense monster, wondering shortly what purpose they would serve. In the end there was only one way to find out. Kaiba wasn't the only one, who didn't like defensive play.
"Oh well attack's the best defense, right? Armored Wing! Attack his Blue Eyes!"
no subject
The holographic card on the field lifted to show it's face. "Ring of Destruction," Kaiba announced. "This card destroys one face up Monster on the field, and I chose Armored Wing!"
A fiery ring came out of the card and surrounded the Armored Wing. "This doesn't come without a price. Both players take damage equal to the amount of the card destroyed." He flinched as the cards other effect caused his life points to decrease.
no subject
"I activate the Magic Card Allure of Darkness. Thanks to that I can draw two cards and then remove one DARK monster from my hand from the game."
He drew his cards, eyes narrowing in speculation as he saw what his deck had given him. There was a bit of a risk involved but if he played this right then he would be able to reverse tables. "I remove BF - Mistral the Silver Shield from the game. Then I activate the effect of Black Feather - Breeze the Gentle Wind. When Breeze is added to my hand through the effect of a spell, trap or monster I can special summon it."
The monster appeared and Crow gave his cards another glance. He couldn't rush this now. "Then I activate another spell card: Feather Wind Attack. By returning Breeze from the field to my deck I can add another Black Feather Monster from my deck to the hand. I'm choosing Shura the Blue Flame."
"And since I haven't normal summoned yet, I'm summoning Shura. Now my permanent magic Black Whirlwind activates and I can add another Black Feather monster to my hand. This time I'm adding Black Lance-Blast."
He took another moment, contemplating whether he should summon Black Lance-Blast, but deciding against it. He just might need it later. "I'm setting one card face down. Turn end."
no subject
"Your monsters are only a force when you have a swarm. When it's one on one I have the clear advantage!" Kaiba said in reference to the huge disparity between the attack points. "But it's even better when I have the advantage of two against one! I change Kaiser Sea Horse from Defense to Attack mode. Kaiser Sea Horse attack Shura directly! Leave his life points wide open for the Blue Eyes!"
no subject
"You've got my Black Feather's figured out, don't you? From my hand I activate the effect of Black Feather - Kalut of the Moon Shadow. By sending this card to the graveyard Shura gains 1400 ATK!"
no subject
A large game controller appeared in front of him on the field. "By entering the correct code I can tribute one of my monsters and take control of yours. I tribute Kaiser Sea Horse and take control of your Shura!"
The hologram of Kaiser disappeared from the field making room for Shura to take its place next to his dragon. "Thanks for increasing his attack for me," Kaiba mocked. "Shura! Blue Eyes White Dragon! Attack his life points directly!"
no subject
His expression slowly changed back into a grin again as he looked slightly awed at Kaiba. "Damn, you are as good as they say. This sure was a fun duel."
Winner: Kaiba
"Hmpf," Kaiba said, closing some of the distance between them but still staying on his side of the field. He could have deactivated his duel disk, but he liked having his dragon standing beside him. "Your birds were no match for a dragon," He said not un-kindly. "You earned your defeat." This was as close to a congratulations as he would give.
