(no subject)

WHO: Lucinda Guthrie ([livejournal.com profile] ahhhmahbabies), everyone
WHERE: Xavier Institute (kitchen + dining hall)
WHEN: Easter Sunday, early morning to late evening
SUMMARY: It's Easter and Lucinda holds a dinner to celebrate.
FORMAT: --

Lucinda grew up a Baptist. She married a Baptist man and they raised their children along the same vein. She took her children to Baptist services and celebrated all the major religious holidays amongst her family, even after her dearest Tommy passed away. Yet, despite being a religious woman, she was very open-minded and supported her children whether mutant or otherwise. She would continue to hold the tradition in this new world and she had a lot to be thankful for, most of which was Jay coming back from the dead.

Sally was up bright and early and entered the kitchen grinning. She had been looking forward to cooking for the last few days and walked over to the sink, quickly washing her hands.

"Hi, Mrs. Guthrie. What do you need me to do?"

"Yes. I put them in the fridge," Sally informed her, before making her way to the refrigerator. "I was able to get a whole bunch for a salad and then some potatoes, peas, carrots, and other things that the grocer said might be good."

She took out the bags and put them on the table. "Do you want me to start washing everything?"

The cooking Sally usually did involved boxes and usually microwaves.

"I think you'll find lots of people wanting to help you out when you get started." Sally grinned and brought the potatoes over to the sink first. It was nice to help out in the kitchen with someone's mom. She hadn't been able too much with her own mother when she was younger but she had read about it often enough.

"Sam said he would teach me how to garden properly. It's not my fault that the only plant I ever had decided to fall down from the windowsill."

"Yes, ma'am. I grew up in New York," she replied, placing washed vegetables into a bowl. "I haven't really been to many places outside of it."

Sally wasn't too sure how one would know if the potatoes were clean enough. There was a reason she was a server at Warren's place and not helping out in the kitchen. "He's a good friend."
