SUMMARY: Sally and Lorna discuss Magneto and other things.
FORMAT: paraskating

Sally was wandering around Central Park after her shift. She'd already dropped in on some locals she'd made friends with and delivered them food, so she was taking the moment to enjoy the spring weather. She didn't walk though, preferring to utilize her force field to help her skid along the sidewalk and across the grass as she pleased. Back home she wouldn't have dared doing this in the open anymore, but she felt safe enough to breeze by in the less traveled areas in the City.

Plus she really enjoyed the people watching.

"I heard a little about that," Sally told Lorna, but she still didn't know exactly what had happened there or how awful it had been.

"Yeah. He gave us a safe place to stay. Well, until it was destroyed."

"It happens, it seems," Lorna mused. "Wherever mutants go to live, it always ends up being destroyed."

"Another mutant is the one who did it," Sally reflected, remembering that awful day. "I don't think he would have succeeded if Magneto had actually been conscious."

"No, it wouldn't have. Magneto can be very...territorial when he wants to be," Lorna nodded. "He likes to get what he wants."

"But Genosha was destroyed?" Sally frowned.

"He...wasn't around at the time," Lorna explained. "I went back there for a few...reasons, and nearly the second I stepped foot on the island, sentinels came. He wouldn't have been able to stop them."

"What?" Sally pressed a hand to her mouth, horrified. "Sentinels...who sent them?"

"Cassandra Nova," Lorna spoke. "But it doesn't matter who sent them, Sally. They were tools of mankind created to make our lives hell. I blame them just as much as I blame her."

Sally frowned as she tried to rack her brain around all of that. "But...not all of mankind is like that."

Except what she heard of the future sure made it seem like they might be.

"I disagree," Lorna spoke. "Humans are respsonsible for all sorts of genocide. If something isn't the same as them, they are feared and hunted down like animals."

Sally looked down at the ground. "Not all, I don't think," she murmured. "They...some are. Maybe even most. But not everyone is. Some..."

There had been good times in the past; she remembered that one Christmas, but the bad definitely outweighed the good.

"We just need to show them we're not something to be feared."

"How long have mutants been around? How many lives have we saved?" Lorna pressed. "It doesn't matter to them; it will never change."

Um... "That's a really bleak outlook," Sally told her. "What would you have everyone do?"

"My view used to be that all the humans needed to die, but I got over that," Lorna grinned. "The rules have changed with M-Day. And there's positively no way to beat it into the heads of humans that we're not diseases."

Sally couldn't wrap her head around M-Day. She'd heard about it from a lot of people from her world, but it seemed too vast to actually have happened. The evidence that it did was all around her when she spoke to any of them though.

"But we're not diseased. We just have a gene...hasn't science proved that?"

"Yes," Lorna nodded. "But convincing humans otherwise is hardly that simple."

"No, I guess not." Sally looked down at the ground and sighed. "What was Genosha like?"

"It was very nice," Lorna decided fondly. "Good people there. Even if they all tried to worship me...it was good. Had room to be better, but the people there were happy."

"They tried to worship you?" Sally grinned. "That had to be weird...the worshiping part. The rest of it sounds...it sounds like how it should be."

"I am Magneto's daughter, and he named me his heir," Lorna pointed out. "Magneto had very dedicated followers. I'm sure he still does."

"They probably are; he always had a way with words," Sally told her, and picked up a dandelion. "I always forget that your his daughter."

She blew and watched as the seeds sailed away. "Are your powers stronger than his?"

"It wasn't something that's been known for long. I've only recently found out myself," Lorna pointed out. "And, no. He's more powerful than me because he's more experienced. But I could be now."

Sally nodded. "I wonder what he would think of this place."

"He would dislike it," Lorna pointed out. "The humans around here...it's the beginning of hatred. He would try to change it."

"Do you think it'll get as bad as it is back home?" Sally shuddered.
