welcome to All That Jazz
WHO: Angelo and Suzi
WHERE: All That Jazz
WHEN: Friday night
WARNINGS: I have NO idea.
SUMMARY: Angelo hangs out somewhere that is not his house or the Institute XD
FORMAT: Paragraph
It was Suzi's turn as the head bartender tonight and the club was busy as usual with a number of thirsty clients and hungry customers. The music was pumping throughout the club as they waited for the main act to start up but people were staying happy with their drinks. Suzi was happy with the tips that were coming in.
She grabbed another towel to mop up another section of the bar and wondered if Angelo would stop by. She'd run into him at the Institute a few times and the last time she bumped into him she mentioned working at the club. He seemed a little down the last they met and she hoped he'd stop by. She didn't know him very well but it seemed like he could've used a friend.
Another customer came up with the look of expectation. Suzi set her towel aside and walked over, "And how're you doin' tonight?"

Suzi set her towel aside and walked over, "And how're you doin' tonight?"
no subject
This place felt posh enough that he still wasn't entirely sure he'd get the boot for being a smudge against the decor, but considering the guy who owned it and the people who worked there, he figured he'd be safe enough for the most part. What was a bit of grey skin when the boss had wings?
He spotted Suzi over at the bar and waited until she'd finished with her latest customer before he claimed a stool for his seat.
"Hola," he greeted with a grin. "How goes the daily grind?"
no subject
"Hey, you made it out," she answered. "It's good to see you. As you can guess, the daily grind is busy as usual. But that's normal considering that Dazzler's on tonight. People love her shows."
Grabbing a glass that a customer had left behind she asked, "What do you want to drink?"
no subject
Leaning an elbow on the counter and propping his chin up on his hand, Angelo looked over the selection and shrugged. "Rum and coke's good for me," he said.
sorry! my dad's birthday tied me up
At his request, she laughed a little. "Nice try. I can't really give you that. We've been keeping it extra tight since the whole thing with HIVE came down. Coke okay?"
no worries!
"I might stick around for it," he said, before sighing heavily at Suzi and looking up at her with the saddest eyes he could muster. "Why's the law gotta deny a guy his fun? Doesn't maturity count for anything anymore?" Assuming, of course, that it ever had. He waved a hand. "Coke's fine."
no subject
She walked over to grab a clean glass and pulled the tap for the soda. "You want lemon or a cherry in it?"
Bringing it over she set it down before pulling out some straws to fill up the canisters while she talked to Angelo. "So how long have you been in the City again? I don't see you around school."
no subject
Angelo had to think about how long it had been before he answered. "I've been here for... wow, four months now. It was February in the City, I think." The month and season difference had thrown him for a while. "I was staying over at a friend's place for the first while, and I haven't been taking classes." He took another sip. "What about you?"
no subject
She leaned against the back of the bar to take a quick survey of the bar. She pulled an empty glass off the bar and turned to Angelo as she sent that to the washer.
"Did you want to take classes?," Suzi asked straightforwardly. "It takes time getting used to here and I could at the Institute." She tilted her head, "What do you and your friend do?"
no subject
He paused for a moment, distracting himself with crunching on the cherry as he thought of Jono's disappearance. "Nothing, anymore," he said. "He was Ported out, almost two weeks ago."
no subject
"So what do you do then? Do you work?" Suzi asked. Her face softened as he talked about his friend's Porting out. "I'm sorry, I hope that wasn't too hard.
no subject
Angelo kept the smile on his face deliberately and shrugged. "It sucked, but he'll be back," he said. "He's come back before." Shaking his head, he changed the subject. "So how's work here? Other than busy. I heard all the employees are imPorts."
Just so you know, I didn't forget you. Sorry for my bad.
She nodded in response. "Yep, Warren knows that it's harder for imPorts to find legitimate work once they get 'Ported so all the employees are imPorts. Maybe a few non-imPorts for special events or something. The work's good. People love this place so I'm earning my pay."
no subject
"Gotta be nice to work somewhere that you know the boss isn't gonna freak if you use your power or look a little different," he said, and then looked at her curiously. "What's your power, anyways?"
no subject
"It is," Suzi agreed. "It's always been like that, even back home. But I guess it's harder for you," she sympathized. She blinked and smiled at his question. After quickly checking around the bar, she threw a glassful of orange juice to his face. Before it hit him she quickly threw a time field over it, holding all the liquid in suspension.
"Time fields," she answered.
no subject
He looked over at Suzi and grinned. "That is sweet."
no subject
"I could use more practice, I think. I've gotten better since being here but there's probably more I could do."
She didn't mention anything about her memory playback since it was pretty hard to explain without showing him. Plus that was a little more showy that her fields which could be as small as she needed them to be.
"What's your power?"
no subject
"Ta-da."
no subject
She took the glass from him and set it into the wash bin, "Thanks, saves me a trip." She printed out a receipt for a customer looking to close their tab and wiped down the bar again for another customer to grab a seat. "So were you recruited to be part of X-Men?"
no subject
"Nah, I just went to Massachusetts for training. The superhero gig was never really my thing, even if we were fighting off marrow-sucking mutant vamps every other week."
no subject
"I remember thinking it was the most amazing thing I'd ever be a part of," she said thinking back to what she could remember. "I was studying with Dr. MacTaggert first actually. The Professor came for us when he needed help with the real team of X-Men."
She raised her eyebrow, "Marrow-sucking mutant vamps?"
no subject
Angelo flipped a hand. "Well, just one: Emplate. You heard of 'im? He was in the City for a while there and attacked the mansion once."
After a few moments, he paused, a name that she'd mentioned niggling at his memory.
"Doctor Mac..." Angelo trailed off with a frown, partly in thought and partly because he wasn't sure he could repeat the name properly. His eyes widened in recognition. "Wait, as in Moira? The Moira that Sean was all obsessed about?"
no subject
She frowned, she hadn't done much but she wasn't the most experienced fight around. She dismissed the thought as Angelo looked thoughtful, like he wanted to ask her something.
"Doctor Moira MacTaggert? Yeah, that's her," Suzi said confidently. "But I don't remember a Sean," she added hesitatingly. "Why do you say obsessed?"
