SUMMARY: Matt is going to meet Wanda and her "friend" for lunch to discuss her recent cash winnings in Vegas.

[Matt's been hanging around the corner of 46th Street and 9th Avenue for a solid 10 minutes, waiting for Wanda and her friend to arrive. He's at a bit of a disadvantage, its true, being a blind man waiting to meet a pair of strangers he's only conversed with over the phone-communicator-whatever the hell it's called. She and her friend could be standing right there in front of him, and he wouldn't necessarily know them from any other pedestrians buzzing around.

He looks mildly bored, leaning up against a street lamp, trying to kill some more time. Maybe he should have told Wanda he was blind. That might have helped. But oh well, it's done now. The waiting game begins.]

[He raises an eyebrow, listening to them as they place their orders, smiling cordially as he waits for them to join him at the table.]

So, shall we get down to business? I understand you've recently come into a great deal of money.

[Wanda looks at Pietro in surprise, then grins and thanks him, leading the way to sit across from Matt with a smile.]

Ah.. yes, rather.

[Oh-so-casually, she pulls a folded check from her purse, flattening it out on the table and pushing it towards him.]

[Pft. As if he would let Wanda pay. Pietro takes the empty seat and scoots it perhaps a little closer to Wanda's side of the table than necessary. He's still not convinced this financial planner is on the level and doesn't particularly approve of just how trusting Wanda is being.]

[He takes the check and flattens it also, running his fingers over the ink, expression obviously intrigued as his attention settles on the sum.]

That's quite a bit of money there, Ms. Maximoff. And if I understood you correctly, you don't currently have a bank account?

[He sounds slightly skeptical. And he's also a little put off by Pietro. Perhaps it would be better if he knew who he was dealing with...]

I'm sorry sir, I didn't catch your name.

[She shakes her head, a little reproachful.]

I have not been here very long.. and I always used my aunt's account, back home. We never needed much.

[Turning to Matt, Pietro frowns appraisingly before replying.]

I hadn't given it. Pietro Maximoff.

[Huh. Her husband, perhaps? Or... no. Matt inhaled quickly, letting their individual scents settle over him. They were very similar, each distinct, but close enough that he could tell they were related. Cousins, or siblings. Hm, yes.]

Right. Well the first thing I would suggest is immediately going to a bank and setting up an account. Carrying a loose check around like that is a little dangerous.

[Wanda's attention snaps back to him, having been momentarily distracted by a family out the window.]

Ah.. yes, I suppose that makes sense. Is there.. some bank in particular you'd recommend?

[He isn't thrilled at the idea of more businessmen in dark suits, but Pietro keeps it to himself for the most part.]

Yes. I'm afraid we're both slightly inexperienced in such matters.

Most of the financial institutions I'm most familiar with seem to be exclusive to my version of the universe. But there are some very reputable banks here in Manhattan. Any of them would be more than willing to help you set up an account.

[He pauses as a member of the waitstaff appears with their food.]

[Wanda turns to smile at the waiter, making an appropriately satisfied comment over the state and promptness of their service before turning her eyes back to Matt, tone light.]

I'm sure it can't be that hard, if everyone in America does it.

[Unsurprisingly, Pietro found the service slow and says as much to the server. The food, however, looks better than acceptable, so he can't maintain the sour attitude for very long.]

Indeed. Perhaps after we finish here, we can start looking. Mr. Murdock, is there anything Wanda should be particularly wary of when setting up her account?

Any of the major banks in the city should meet your needs just fine. You may be interested in a money market account, if you're planning on investing the funds. That would limit the number of withdrawals you'd be able to make, but the interest rates are much higher. You'd earn more money that way.

[He tastes his sandwich, eating in slowly and deliberately, savoring the flavors.]

I'm no expert on this, Wanda, but one thing to keep in mind is that the bankers are in this for a profit too. Though I'd expect they'd would be less likely to try and take advantage of you if Pietro were to go with you.

Oh, I don't think interest is going to be an issue.

[She pauses to sip her drink, eying him thoughtfully.]

Even less likely, then, if you accompany me as well?

[It's a challenge for Pietro not to spit out the bite he'd just taken when Wanda asks that. It's true, his opinion of the lawyer had risen in the past thirty seconds, but not by that much. Coughing slightly, but not enough to make himself choke, Pietro reaches for a napkin.]

I'm sure Mr. Murdock has a busy afternoon ahead of him. We shouldn't detain him any longer than necessary, Wanda.

[Matt sets his sandwich down, sipping his beverage casually, seemingly unfazed by either of them.]

If you'd like me to come along, Wanda, I'd be more than happy to join you. It's really no trouble, I'm glad to help in anyway I can.

[After all, he'd promised Natasha he would make himself useful and be as helpful as he could.]

[Wanda beams at him again, clearly delighted.]

That's so kind of you, Matt. I would really appreciate it.

[She says his name carefully, like it's something special.]

Are you absolutely certain it isn't an imposition?

[Pietro is fairly certain the answer will still be yes, but he asks all the same and returns to scowling at his food.]

[He speaks between bites of his sandwich, a pleasant grin on his face.]

It's perfectly fine. We can head to the financial district once we're done with our lunch.

[Wanda continues to smile at him as she picks at her sandwich daintily.]

I will be glad to see all of this sorted, really. I don't know how to thank you, Matt.

[His upper lip twitches irritably at Wanda's recently acquired habit of calling Matt by his first name.]

Brilliant. Are there any other suggestions you would have? Though I suppose we'll be discussing it all day, so if there are other matters you'd find more appropriate, please feel free.

[The words aren't exactly spat out, but Pietro's tone definitely betrays his feelings on the subject.]

[Matt would admit it, he likes the way Wanda says his name. So soft, so sweet. It's very hard to not find her charming. Pietro though... Matt is intrigued by him, too. He seems perpetually offended by everything. Matt supposes it must be difficult, being so disgusted all the time.]

Well... [Segue time!] I've just arrived in the city myself. I'm still adjusting to this version of the city. I haven't met very many other newcomers...

[He trails off. It's more of a means of appeasing Pietro and changing the subject than anything else.]

[Wanda pauses, humming thoughtfully, and then abruptly brightens.]

Oh! There is an event, at the Institute -- all imPorts are invited; it's called.. um.. a prom, I believe -- though I'm still not sure why it is called that. Anyway, you should go! It would be a most pleasant way to meet people, I think.

[For the second time, Pietro nearly chokes on his food. Just where had Wanda learned about the prom? Oh, yes, Gemma and dress shopping. Pietro remembered now.]

Yes, I'm sure it will be great for socialization. Even if you go it alone.

[A prom? Really? Was this some sort of school function? It sounded a little odd, considering he was fairly certain he was dealing with adults here. But it could be fun, and it could be a good way to inquire about other so-called 'imPorts'.]

It sounds like an interesting evening. Maybe we could go together, if you don't have any prior plans.

[And, being so helpful, he slides his drink toward Pietro. Don't want him choking to death, after all.]
