Big Bang Three!

WHO: [livejournal.com profile] daft_old_man and EVERYONE!
WHERE: The TARDIS house
WHEN: Forward dated to July 4th
WARNINGS: The Doctor is in charge of the fireworks. Enough said.
SUMMARY: Wherein the Doctor and Jack spend all their money on a big old party! Sorry Ian -_-;
FORMAT: Whatever folks want! It's a free for all!

The Doctor hopped around the house making sure everything was to his satisfaction. There were streamers and balloons filling every nook and cranny and all of it was especially tacky and wonderful! Humans sure knew how to make decoration!!

The small backyard managed to fit two bounce houses (a castle and a water based bounce house), and inflatable pool entirely too small for adults, and the grills. There was the danger of someone bouncing into the pool but the Doctor saw that as more opportunity for fun! Inside there was food on every flat surface and downstairs where once the aquacat pool was now was ready for dancing! Even if no one showed the Doctor was going to have a good time!

Of course the real show started at sundown with the Doctor's own firework show helped along with human gunpowder and Time Lord know-how. Hope someone has the fire department on speed dial!

Zevran tilts his head a little, his eyes more thoughtful than usual. "Which one is your home? Before the 'Porter brought me here, I was in Ferelden, but Antiva is my home. I would be lying if I spoke of the cold wastes at the south of Thedas as if I belonged there, though you might say that is where I come from, now."

"I don't know," Jack says quietly. It's a rare moment of honesty, brought on by the alcohol, for the most part. "Boe is where I was raised, but --" He shrugs. "I left, to join the time agency. But the 51st century is ...different. Humans have spread out, by that point, we're not all just on Earth. But it didn't feel like home, after --" He looks away, in the direction of the record player. "I should put more music on," he says after a moment or two. Subject changes? Always good.

Zevran doesn't really know what to make of such a slip of honesty. Oh, he's heard drunken moments of revelation before--but generally not from people he actually cares about (and that's a problem in and of itself, one he doesn't want to think about). He watches Jack, a little puzzled, a little concerned, although he can hardly place that emotion. "Yes, I would rather like to hear more of this music," he agrees finally. "And perhaps someday you can tell me of...not your home, then. But your favorite place to be. Yes?"

"Alright." He pauses a moment, to give Zevran a slightly chaste kiss, and then turns his attention to the record player. He ends up choosing another Cole Porter song, 'Night and Day', and returns to Zevran.

"Cole Porter again," he says, nodding to the record player. "I forget where this song is from, but it's a good one."

And the fact that the kiss is even close to chaste should kind of be a warning sign. But Zevran lets it slide, for now. Even he can give chaste kisses if he really wants to, right? It doesn't mean anything.

"It is indeed," he agrees. "I think I like this fellow. Maybe when this time-traveling business of yours is up and running again, we can go meet him. That would be fun."

And he hasn't even heard "You're the Top" yet. Then he'll really think it would be fun.

"Heh, maybe," Jack says thoughtfully. "But the manipulator's not -- the most exact of time-traveling things. Bit more like a scooter compared to a sports car. The Doctor's got the sports car. But it would be fun, yes."

"We could always lock the door," he adds, nodding at the door itself. "But I guess that would defeat the purpose of this being a party, wouldn't it."

[identity profile] niceassassin.livejournal.com 2011-07-05 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
One brow lifts in amusement. "You must know I've little idea what the difference is between a scooter and a sports car. But I think I grasp your point."

He glances at the door, then back at Jack. "The bedroom. Later. When more people have left. This is a more sound idea, and also more fair. I would not deprive others of your music, Jack."

A flash of a grin, and he's moving on. "This is little like the parties I know. But I believe I'm getting used to this place. The sights, the smells. But car exhaust will never replace rot, to me," he confides. "Now that is the way a city should smell."

"Oh, you'd probably like sports cars," Jack reassures him. "If I had enough money I'd show you."

"Depends on the music you mean," he smirks a little. "Usually the parties in the 40s involved lots of this," with a nod at the record player. "Food, too, and lots of handsome soldiers and their girls. Not so much with the barbecue and the swimming pools, it was more blackout curtains and air raid sirens."
