SUMMARY: Wherein the Doctor and Jack spend all their money on a big old party! Sorry Ian -_-;

The Doctor hopped around the house making sure everything was to his satisfaction. There were streamers and balloons filling every nook and cranny and all of it was especially tacky and wonderful! Humans sure knew how to make decoration!!

The small backyard managed to fit two bounce houses (a castle and a water based bounce house), and inflatable pool entirely too small for adults, and the grills. There was the danger of someone bouncing into the pool but the Doctor saw that as more opportunity for fun! Inside there was food on every flat surface and downstairs where once the aquacat pool was now was ready for dancing! Even if no one showed the Doctor was going to have a good time!

Of course the real show started at sundown with the Doctor's own firework show helped along with human gunpowder and Time Lord know-how. Hope someone has the fire department on speed dial!

It seems they've arrived just in time for the best part. Ned's hand goes slack around Digby's leash as he tilts his head to the sky, watching in slack-jawed wonder. Usually not a fan of loud noises, the pie maker can't bring himself to look away. They're captivating and possibly the best fireworks he's ever seen. "At least they saved the best part for nightfall," he says softly, under his breath, not even sure if she can hear him over the din of the rockets exploding above their heads.

[Zoidberg is watching the fireworks in wide-eyed wonder while simultaneously shoving some barbecued anchovies into his gaping gullet. What a happy day!]

[Fireworks seem to be a universal thing to enjoy, Han figured, as he watched the skies. Something about explosions and bright colors that just seemed to combine everything nice about loud noises that startled little children of all species.

Buffy is just arrived, pulling her light jacket around her slightly. She didn't think it was going to be chilly, but maybe if she goes to stand by the grill. Food is always a plus anyway, and if it keeps her warm then so be it. She had shown up with Dawn and Peter but quickly ditched them, on the lookout for anyone else she knew. She needed to do that mingley thing, or something.

Someone spots a familiar head of sun shiny hair in the crowd and doesn't waste any time making her way over. "Buffy!" Clearly no holiday should be spent without bothering her favorite tour guide. Nevermind she has no idea what she is here to celebrate. "I didn't know you were here to celebrate too."

Billy was in the process of finding some more food when he spotted a familiar face. "Buffy! Hey!" he called out to her, weaving through some people as he made his way over to her. "How's it going?"

Pretty rare to see Harrison Ford leaning up against a wall and watching people mingle. It felt kind of weird not to have a wookie over his shoulder to conversate with, so it really did mean that Han would have to go into this solo.

Argh, the pun was horrible, even for him.

And some time later...

There is a rather damp elf by the grill, trying to use the heat to dry off his clothes without catching any of them on fire. He's actually doing pretty well with it.

Until he decides to strike up a conversation with Buffy. "You were at the dance, yes? A shame, but I had little chance to get to know you there. You know the Doctor as well?"

[Off to the side, there are more balloons being blown up with a hand pump. Zevran is methodically and grimly working to blow them up. He's also sulking. A sparkly hat sits on a table next to him. He looks like he thinks it might bite.]

[Jack is heading back from bringing more records to the basement, and pauses to eye that hat warily.]

[You want food? How about delicious hot dogs? We've got hamburgers, too. And assorted vegetarian things! ...And two cases of anchovies, what even. Anyway, Ted is manning the grill! Come say hello, bring him a beer, whatever. He'll appreciate it.]

[She approaches with a paper plate in one hand, beer in the other, eyeing the grill hungrily. Buffy is always hungry, but she can't decide what she wants. Such a hard life, but then she remembers Peter's 'trick.']

Ned is wandering about, hands in his pockets. Digby has been left with Shahrazad so he's free to roam. He moves to set his pie on the dessert table, though it's immediately dwarfed by the rest. Trying not to feel self-conscious about it, he shifts from foot to foot, wondering what to explore first.

Peter is doing the exact. same. thing. Though his wandering has slightly more direction, considering he's using it as an attempt to keep an eye on Dawn instead of actually doing something with himself. But at least there's one more familiar face, and Peter meanders his way over, looking about as out of place as humanely possible.

[With any good party, there is bound to be dancing. Jack has taken it upon himself to be in charge of that bit of the party, and his choice for the evening is jazz. There's a space cleared in the basement for it, and Jack is wandering from there to the backyard, making sure everything's properly set up (and he has enough records and cds.)]

[And here's Buffy, she brought her dancing shoes just in case. Which look a lot like her regular shoes because she only has the one pair. But there's Jack and she's sidling up to him, attempting to look as casual as possible while also trying to get a glimpse of his record collection.]

Rapunzel had seen the Doctor's invitation for a party on the Network, and had decided that she probably needed to get out of the apartment rather badly. Unfortunately, the forced removal of her hair had apparently taken a little bit of the poor things confidence as well, so she was standing near the edge of the yard, one arm curled in front of her waist to hook her other arm as she peered around. Pascal was seated on her shoulder, eying the folks that came close to her.

She'd probably open up eventually...frankly, dancing would be hard to resist for long, for Rapunzel, but for the moment she was just sort of watching everyone in a little bit of a daze.

Pym was running about, exploring every inch of the going ons of the party. He'd never really celebrated the 4th of July like this. Of course he knew it was Independence Day but he was raised in a dome in the Arctic Circle.

He skidded to a stop once he came across someone who didn't look very excited to be at a party. And what was that on her shoulder?

Pym pointed at the green animal. "What's that?"

In the back yard, Teddy's enjoying he party so far. Eating a hot dog, he's found a little spot out of the way to finish his food before getting back into the rest of the party. He knew from experience the hazards of carrying food through a party. For now he was just watching people and keeping an eye on those bounce houses. He may have been at a party but if anyone looked like they were about to bounce into getting hurt, Teddy would rush over to catch them.

[Somewhere in the back of everything, Cassie's standing quietly with a drink in her hand and her robotic pet sitting next to her. She has a lot to think about. No matter what she says, the questions Katurian kept asking her keep running through her head - did she really remember what she thought she remembered? After awhile, she looks at the dog and sighs.]

Fine, go play in the bouncy-house, but if you break yourself, you're grounded.

[With an artificial bark and a very human-sounding thank-you, the dog runs off and Cassie's left alone and muttering to herself.]

Stupid party.

"CASSIE!" The Doctor pops up from nowhere with a hat on and, look, one in his hand... "Glad you came and with Bot!"

Peter really has absolutely no idea why he agreed to this. Especially when Buffy practically shirked him off with parenting duties, or maybe they're more like brotherly duties, and he seriously doubts that Dawn wants to spent the entire evening with him. Even though he was more than willing to let her go off and do her own thing, exactly like he expected she would, Peter has no intention of letting her get into trouble.

So he's keeping watch by the sidelines of the rest of the party, observing everything else going around him without actually taking part. Because this is how... Peter celebrates holidays. Especially ones that involve social events.

"Hi," Teddy greets with a smile and a wave. He noticed Peter off on the sidelines and decided he'd go say hello. As far as the shapeshifter was concerned, people should be enjoying the party instead of hiding from it.

"Not a big party guy?"

Han never knew how he got himself into these things. For the most part, he would have been trying to find a way to get out, but he figured that something would drop into his lap if he showed up to something with a lot of people. Odd that he didn't think in fate, but this was an excellent plan from his point of view. Unaware that many people might recognize Harrison Ford him, Han actually moved into the party.

After some initial hesitation, Ned wandered up, trying not to be too nervous when he addressed the other man. "Did you try the pie?"

A very large ginger man is sitting in the corner and occasionally eating some hot dogs. No one knows when he arrived, and it's pretty uncertain as to who he is, because well, he just hasn't been very social yet. But he is oddly familiar to anyone who walks by him, like that person they might have met before a long time ago but can't quite place.

Jack is playing sociable host, when he's not busy dancing or making out/arguing with elves, so he heads over and gives this large ginger man a bit of a nod and a grin. He does look familiar, and Jack squints a little at him, looking thoughtful.

"I know you from somewhere, don't I."

Julian is here cause, hello, party. 4th of July. Of course he's gonna be here. He doesn't know all that many people yet, particularly not to like...see in person instead of just over video, so he's kind of moving around room and seeing how many of these guys he actually recognises.

Oh look, it's that guy her sister was always talking to. Maybe she could do subtle and tipsy--and maybe Hell would freeze over. It probably did, from time to time, knowing her luck. "Hi." Because that's not awkward or anything.

The Doctor ran around like a headless chicken which was par the course for him only today no one was trying to kill him or end the planet/universe/all of time and space. Really it was rather relaxing!

His hat was extra festive and extra sparkly and that damn bowtie of his kept playing the anthem over and over, but he kept the tables full of food and the water in the pool and on the slide cool. Just ignore the fact that he wore both a bowtie and hat with his blue swim trunks. He really could teach the fashion world and thing or two!

Ted has apparently taken a break from grilling, and gives the Doctor a wave as he passes by. "Hey, the party's going well, though I think a couple people fell in the pool earlier."

Hank only knows a handful of people here, so he's feeling a little awkward. Chilling on the sidelines, sipping a beer gingerly. Hard for a guy like him to be completely invisible, though.

He's still running around, but even the Doctor can't ignore a giant catman especially when said catman is fantastically blue! Grabbing a banana daquari he smiles widely as he approaches. "Hello! Hope you're having a smashing time!"

Sipping the daquari he pauses before spitting out the drink back into the glass. "Hmm, new taste buds, sorry."

Much later, after the dancing and a change of wet clothes, Jack can be found in the basement again. He's played the host for a while, had a few (more than a few) drinks with Buffy, and now he's downstairs choosing another record. If anyone is still down there, he's quietly starting to sing this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7Q3zBLgqsI) to himself. Encourage him, if he notices he has an audience, he might actually sing.

And eventually, Zevran gives up on trying to dry his current outfit and switches it out for another. Why he has a spare set of clothes stashed here is the sort of thing best left to rumor. He makes his way back to the basement once he's changed, only to stop in the entrance at the sound of the singing and give Jack a bemused look. This is...unexpected.

But he's not interrupting it.
