Dance the Night Away

SUMMARY: A night of salsa dancing was the perfect way to catch up with people and meet new friends, Sofia wasn't quite prepared for what people consider dancing

The dance hall is downtown, near a few bars. Cheerful salsa music is playing, and some songs have an instructor guiding the newbies through. The rest of the songs, are a free for all.

There's a seated area for anyone needed to grab a drink after a fast dance. Sofia is there, grabbing a coke while she waits for her friends.

I'll guide you [she aligns her body with his, taking advantage of his leaning] just follow my hips

[ This is definitely cheating at something.

He looks at her for a second, a slow smile growing on his face. God, it's no damn wonder he wanted to go dancing with her for so long.

His arm slides around, hand resting against the small of her back and he moves easily against her. ]

I can see why you like this. [ Oh God he can't help himself. ] You look really good like that.

The hard but [she says with a smile] is going to be persuading you to let go long enough of my waist long enough to move my hips away from you.

You're not bad yourself, if you came a few more times you might even be good.

I have to let you move away? [ He raises an eyebrow as if this is unlikely, but he's teasing.

Is that an invitation to come with you again? Cause I might just say yes.

[wind_dancer]

That's Salsa [she teases back] unless you refuse to let go.

It is [she says smiling up] I want to do things with you again Julian. I want to get to know you again.

[hellionated]

[ Smirking again ] Fine. But under protest. [ He looses his hold the tiniest of tiny bits. ]


I'd...like that. [ Hell he'd more than like that, as you can probably tell by that grin. ] You know I thought I'd lost the chance to go dancing with you.

[wind_dancer]

[Sofia reaches for that hand and helps move it so she can spin out from under it and really move, bringing her hips around in tight circles for him to see what she means]

I think you've earned another chance Julian. [there's a softer smile] You've been treating me the same as you used to, even though I don't have my powers.

[hellionated]

[ Her moving like that definitely has his attention. Okay, he can...live with not holding her right up against him if she's gonna do that.

That was...

That was pretty good.

All his resolution to behave vanish at her next words, though. ]

Sofia. [ He tugs her hand, pulling her close. ] It wouldn't have changed anything, I swear. [ He smiles a little, holding her there for a second and then stepping back to appropriate dancing distance again. See? He can be good. ]

[it was her turn to forget about the dancing. She stands still when he moves back for a heart beat, before moving in to hug him back and lean her head against his chest.] I'm...sorry I left without listening to you. [and she was, anger no matter how well placed, only left a hollow feeling] you were an idiot but...

[hellionated]

[ What is dancing? He just hugs her back.

It's like something's falling away. He'd always hated how things ended between them, and now... ]

It's...okay. [ That's not a lie. He hadn't thought that ever wouldn't be a lie. ] It doesn't matter anymore. You're listening now.

And yeah. I was an idiot and I screwed up. And I'm sorry I hurt you, beautiful.

[she lifts her head, and meeting his eyes, hugging him tighter. Her whole body felt lighter now, and she could hear the sincerity and that hint of pain that he hadn't had a chance to say it before]

I know, Julian. We'll be okay now. I'm not going to vanish again

[hellionated]

[ He secretly wants to say that she can't guarantee that. Because she could just be Ported away, at any time, and then...

they might not even remember having this conversation.

Which...would suck. But...they were both here now, so... ]

Yeah. Not vanishing'd be good. Kinda like having you around again.

[wind_dancer]

Kinda? [she smiles and slips back into the dancing hold] I hope I can improve that.

[hellionated]

[ He's playing it down, but whatever. He's still smiling. He's getting the hang of this salsa thing too, and moves along with her. ]

Keep taking me dancing and you might.

If you take me somewhere in return, I will

Somewhere in particular, or...?

Nowhere in particular, I'd just like to come and do something you like doing.

Okay, you got a deal.

It didn't used to be this easy to get you to hang out with me.

You used to be a lot more of an ass when people were around

[ Hey he takes exception to that! ]
