(it is absolutely not common that you end up in the future for your birthday. in fact, despite the discrepancy with his own age back home, cross was actually milking this for all it was worth. when he found out that people actually give you free stuff. a little charm here and a little flirting there, he's got so much free stuff that he doesn't know what to do with it.

what's more, at the moment he's just too excited to spend his birthday not wondering if someone at a party is going to try and kill him. so, throwing caution to the wind, just let the party begin! he's in various locations doing various things.)

(he shakes his head, really he doesn't like to talk about Renee (or was she American and he was an ass who barely remembered where she was from.) From my home world, yeah. A piece of work, that one.

[professorlionface]

Well, there's always now, if you want to talk about her.

[He takes a look at the street they've come out at, planning the next move.] Do you think we should take a taxi? Not exactly adventurous, but it's an option...

[ioudas]

She thinks about glory more than humanity. Don't ruin a great day, yeah?

(he shrugs.) Sure, or we could take a plane?

[professorlionface]

[He snaps his fingers, excitement spreading into his face.] You know, I actually have access to a mini-jet! We'd have to head to the Bronx to fetch it, and parking can be murder, but...

[ioudas]

... A mini-jet? (he actually looks shocked because isn't there really only one type of airplane?)

[professorlionface]

[Cross, there are so many kinds of planes you just don't know.]

An X-Jet, to be specific.

[ioudas]

(what is this magic. he doesn't like this.)

Shouldn't they be more in an cross shape to fly?

[professorlionface]

It is. We just have a silly habit of prefixing all of our belongings rather particularly.

[ioudas]

.... You're not setting yourself up for success here.

[professorlionface]

You do know a cross is simply an X at a different angle, yes?

[ioudas]

(he doesn't say anything, save simply pointing to his face at the large cross in his mask.)

[professorlionface]

[Hank shrugs. He'd actually never seen that cross hiding under those red bangs before.]

Well, that's only one shape they've been known to take. Roman crucifixions also featured more X-shaped crosses as well.

[ioudas]

(oh, he hides it again.)

Really, you're going to lecture me on crosses. No, go on.

[professorlionface]

[Hank just shrugs.]

Well it seemed like you were trying to subtly make a point there.

[ioudas]

Are we going to go or are we going to have an argument about the representation of the cross?

[professorlionface]

If you're going to stop poking fun at our calling it an X-Jet.

[He hails a cab.] We'll have to get to the Bronx first if we're taking it.

[ioudas]

By all means, after you. This is your town, after all. (more like he's giddy to go FLYING in the air.)

[professorlionface]

[He climbs into the back of the cab, but he kind of takes up a lot of it with his size.]

You alright with splitting the fare?

[ioudas]

(oh hank, you have no idea who you're dealing with.)

Sure, why not?

[professorlionface]

Well, it's only reasonable!

[The trip's about forty-five minutes in traffic, but soon enough they're in front of the Institute and the driver's telling them their fare.]

[ioudas]

(oh, wow, it's an impressive place on its own. cross has always loved institutes for learning, despite the fact that he never was in the socioeconomic class to attend.)

What is this place?

[professorlionface]

[What a shame, they could've given him a scholarship!] This is the Xavier Institute, the school I teach at, specifically, though not exclusively, catered to imPorts. I also happen to live in our dormitories, and have a lab in the subbasement.

[He digs into his wallet to pay the cabbie as he steps out.] Your share should be $18 after the tip.

[ioudas]

(he hands Hank a creditcard (that doesn't have his name on it) before he wanders into the Institute as if he's mystified by the place. frankly, this place would be a lot more interesting than his actual party.)

A lab, you say?

[professorlionface]

[He frowns at the card, but settles their bill and hands it back once he's caught up with Cross. He's pretty spry for his size.]

Fully equipped! And then some...considering all the instruments we designed ourselves...

[ioudas]

Oh, I see.

(he stands outside, like a kid trying to get into a candy store.)
