(it is absolutely not common that you end up in the future for your birthday. in fact, despite the discrepancy with his own age back home, cross was actually milking this for all it was worth. when he found out that people actually give you free stuff. a little charm here and a little flirting there, he's got so much free stuff that he doesn't know what to do with it.

what's more, at the moment he's just too excited to spend his birthday not wondering if someone at a party is going to try and kill him. so, throwing caution to the wind, just let the party begin! he's in various locations doing various things.)

(happy birthday to him! he's currently slumped over in a booth, nursing a cup of coffee and a terrible hangover. sunglasses on his face (really just for the eye) and long legs extending far beyond the booth makes him stick out like an eyesore.

be gentle, baby had a rough night getting drunk in a fancy bar and taking someone home.)

[Bender certainly never intended to attend any section of Cross' party. Birthdays were only worth anything when they were his. Not to mention, he still hates the guy.

But, after swiping a few dozen bendy straws for a plot he had brewing, he couldn't help but notice him looking awfully run down. He bumps up his volume a few notches before heading over.]

What a lovely day to be alive! Don't you agree, meatbag?

(Argh, why? Why was this happening? What did he do? It's only a force of habit that he tries to grab the closest thing (a napkin dispenser) to chuck at wherever the voice was coming from.)

I destroy everything you love if you don't shut up. (before rolling over on a bright gold ball that had been repurposed as a pillow.)

[Bender swipes away the napkin dispenser before it can hit him, but decides to slide into the opposite seat.]

What's the matter? Did you have something to DRINK?

(Maybe if he just rolls over and goes face down, Bender will go away. If you don't acknowledge it, it doesn't exist right?

Rather hard to ignore something you want to destroy with your own two hands, but he'll cry. BLESS HIM, he'll try.)

[Bender obviously finds himself very funny, as he starts to snigger to himself.]

You pathetic humans are all the same. One drop of alcohol and you can't even listen to my witty conversation starters.

( 9 am - 10 am ; the zoo )

(no big deal, he's just gazing longingly at one of the lions in the pit. like he too, his spirit animal is caged in a world where people are constantly watching (though, not so much since he "left" the Dark Order). it's rather hard to reconcile with the fact that there is a grown man staring so longingly into a pit and trying to connect with the alpha male.)

[Lion to his front, sudden lion to his back. Though this one's seven feet tall, blue, bipedal, and wears a tie and pince-nez.

Hank had just celebrated his own 33rd birthday a few days before, so helping a friend with their own sounds like a good deal. He leans again the railing next to him with a smirk.]

(the best place to be, really. cross casts a look over his shoulder, before breaking out in a small smile.)

Is that like a shilling?

(but really, look at the lions. OH MY GOD, THE MAMA LION IS LICKING THE BABY LION. ARE YOU LOOKING AT THIS?)

[Oh, well he can't help regarding that with a bright smile.]

Something like that. More of a pence, really.

[He gives him an amused look.] You've been in this era how long and you haven't encountered pennies?

No, I mean by the worth of it. Everything is quite different, I have to inform you. Pennies were broken down: a farthing was a quarter of a of a penny, a halfpenny was half and
three farthings - you get the picture.

(plus, he really doesn't pay for things. once someone heckled him and now that person has had his identity stolen and his credit ruined, so really cross doesn't pay for a thing.)

Besides, there's a lot about this era that I don't get.

( 11 am - 2 pm ; museums & galleries )

(seriously, this birthday is turning out to be more of a little kid's birthday party rather than a grown man's. nonetheless, when in future rome, take advantage that it's your birthday and get in free. cross spends hours are various locations: the met, natural sciences, art galleries and the like. but nonetheless, he does enjoy himself. )

[ Shade was perhaps enjoying the view, or perhaps it was "shopping" it was hard to tell with the gentleman who spent a very long look at Venus and the Lute Player, but he did notice the certain... boisterous gentleman who was making his rounds.

He was kind of busy enjoying the painting, though, but he did rap his cane on the floor once if Cross managed to turn his head remotely in his direction, and even offered him a small wave. ]

(There was just something about the tapping of cane. Perhaps too many a time he had heard it only to be reminded of his status or the tapping of umbrella that the Earl was so fond of when he come to ruin whatever night Cross was trying to enjoy. Or foil. Regardless, it's rare that he isn't acting his usual rapscallion self and like someone of his time era.

After all, servants of God don't get to gaze upon art for so long when they have themselves to sacrifice, right?)

If I had a top hat, I'd tip it.

(Unfortunately for Shade, he was on the side of Cross's missing face and he actually had to turn to see who was tapping it.)

[foreshadower]

[ Shade didn't make mention, or even acknowledge the turn, other than a polite nod, and a tip of the top hat he actually did wear. Beat that! ]

Why yes, it's me. I suppose congratulations are in order, now that you've survived yet another year. And that is what you are celebrating, is it not?

[ Shade doesn't really care anymore about birthdays, but he's always one for something interesting, and a grown man acting like a boy is hilarious. ]

(Cross just greets the tip with the roll of his eye. Usually when people congratulate him another year living, it's because they're ignorant of what war really is.

But, he doesn't show that emotion, it's easier to have people think he was a manchild than to actually know what he was really like.)

Surviving 211 years, if we wanted to count the Porter's interference.

(5 pm - THE EARLY MORNING ; party )

(well, what sanji won't know, won't hurt him. especially since sanji won't know that cross is throwing his birthday party on his boat. there's booze, there's musics, there are people that cross teaches yoga to; all in all it's already a happening party!)

[except Sanji knows thanks to the harbormaster having his cell phone number. He must have been calling to complain about the large party going on on his boat, and was rather confused that Sanji claimed to not be on his boat.

...and yet, when he shows up to see what the hell is going on, some little tiny part of him is not at all surprised]

(ignore the fact that cross has a captain's hat on and two ladies on either arm. there's a moment as a bright gold ball starts to set off a warning signal to cross. within seconds, the entire party is shut down and the boat is back to normal.

which would have worked if timcampy wasn't hanging out in someone's cleavage drinking champagne, but still.)

[that is one lucky timcampy. Sanji makes his way purposefully up the embarking ramp, hands in pockets, and stops in the middle of the deck]

If you're going to have a party, the least you could do is have a proper chef cooking the food.

[pause. Lighting a cigarette, looking cool and yet pissed]

Anyone in my galley has two seconds to get out before I throw you overboard. That's my domain and mine alone.

(the urge to kick sanji overboard was a fierce one, the fact that cross fights it off shows some sort of maturity. if the guy is willing to cook, let him cook. what use does he have for anything else.)

[ nighttime is when she does a whole different party scene, so when max shows up it's still early, 5.30 by the clock, and she wanders around until she finds cross, tapping him on the shoulder. ]

Hey. Happy birthday.

(Cross, on the other hand, was not enjoying the conversation that he was being subjected to. Who knew that inviting the girl with the long hair and the small shorts was also inviting her boyfriend with the cap that thinks he knows all about Victorian poetry.

The tap is a godsend.)

Oh, hello. (In a tone that screams: Thank God you're here.)

[ she lifts her eyebrows at his tone with an amused grin. ]
