There was nothing quite like a night on the town. The bright lights on the streets so far below, the wind through her hair as she swung between buildings, the sounds of late-night-early-morning traffic , and the ocassional girly screams of would-be muggers having their arms twisted by a chick in a black and purple cape.

Yes, this was the life. One of them, anyway.

Yeah.

[ Once she has her arm back she puts her hands on her hips. With one hand she reaches into her utility belt for a small mirror. It's for looking around corners, not makeup, thankyouverymuch. She hands it over. ]

Here. I can find a spare pair for you, if you don't have any. [ She suspects that if he did, he would be wearing them and not a loincloth. ]

[ Wow, convenient. He takes it carefully (his fingers are shorter without the claws, what if he drops it?) and holds it up, spending a good five seconds looking totally amazed. That is definitely a human face. Complete with some facial hair, bonus! He never managed that as a gargoyle. He's grinning when he hands it back again. ]

I might have to borrow them, yeah. [ And without missing a beat: ] Are there any pizza places still open?

Probably a few. But you'll needs pants. And a shirt. And shoes... [ You know what maybe she should just take him shopping. ]

Just don't go anywhere, okay? I have to raid a few closets.

[ A long zip-up coat and some flip flops should do it, right? ]

[ Whoa wait is his mysterious benefactor leaving? And going to make him wait here?? ]

But, hang on— Kang said he was able to change shape, but couldn't keep it. What if I turn back again? [ What if he misses out on his chance to eat pizza in a pizza parlor like a human?? ] I can get that stuff later, really!

[ She stops and stares at him. Long. And hard. ]

You want to go into a pizza shop... looking like that? Are you familiar with the laws against indecent exposure?

Well, yeah, but...

[ LOOKING A LITTLE BIT CRUSHED, HERE. Sigh, humans and their fear of nudity. It gets in the way of everything! He sighs, rubbing the back of his neck apologetically. ]

I just don't want to miss my chance, I guess.

[ She considers him for another moment, then huffs. ]

I tell you what. If you change before I get back, we'll go anyway. My treat. I'll make sure nobody calls the cops or anything.

But if I'm going I have to go now.

[ Go get pizza as a gargoyle? He looks a little unsure, but... well, this is the City, they do have some other non-humans around... so he nods reluctantly. ]

...Yeah, alright. And, thanks— uh, Batgirl.

Don't go anywhere.

[ She flashes him a reassuring grin before grappling her way back up to the roof and across the way to one of the many safe houses. There has to be a long jacket in there somewhere...

She almost gives up before she finds one, in the very very back of the closet. Flip flops are easier, although who even knows if they'll fit him. The point is he won't be naked and they can't kick him out. Maybe he can even buy some clothes in these.

She makes her way back just as fast as she can, hoping he hasn't changed back yet. She doesn't really want to play crowd control in a pizza shop at this time of night. ]

[ Brooklyn has spent the time getting used to this weird new balance he has going on (plantigrade legs are weird, who knew?), coming to terms with the facts that he now has ten fingers and toes, and also that he has no real idea how to get down off of this building.

So he's perched at the edge when she gets back, knees drawn to his chest and watching the streets below. There aren't too many people out, but it's kind of bizarre to think that he could actually go down and talk to them. ]

[ She comes up behind him, clothes in a bundle under one arm. But this time she starts from a distance and makes sure she makes plenty of noise. ]

I don't think they'll fit very well but they'll get you in the door.

[ He's glancing back as soon as he hears her, brightening immediately. She's back, he's still human! So far so good! He hops to his feet with just a little wobbling, takes a second to remember to straighten his back from his usual hunch, and reaches to take them. ]

Cool, thanks. [ He flaps the coat out, makes a face to see it, and glances at her past it. ] It, uh... looks good.

[ She snorts, trying and failing to cover a laugh. ]

No problem. Sorry I didn't have anything less... stalker-looking.

Yeah, well, maybe you can vouch for me.

[ He can't keep that happy little smile away though, because omg pizza parlor. He pulls the coat on, pauses after flipping out the long hair he doesn't have anymore, and shakes his head with a grin. ]

This is so weird... but, hey, how's it look? [ Arms out, cheery smile! ]

Kinda like you're about to flash someone. But it is 2am in New York. [ The City, whatever, no one cares. ]

Hey, have fun. And don't worry about getting those back to me, nobody will miss them.

Seriously, thanks. [ oops getting bashful again but she's so nice. Better head that off! He holds out a hand to shake. ]

I'm Brooklyn, by the way.

Nice to meet you, Brooklyn.

[ She gives him a friendly smile as she shakes his hand. ]

But really, you should probably look into getting some real clothes. Especially if this lasts longer than you thought it would.

Yeah. Man, I could actually wear shoes... [ Never has anyone sounded so excited about that. He's still smiling when he looks up from eying his feet thoughtfully. ]

So, where are we going? And, uh... how do we get down to the street? I've never tried it without wings.

Shoes that cover your feet, even.

[ She considers that. He did just fall epically from the side of a building, so she's not sure ladders are the way to go. Too much hand-eye coordination required. ]

I'll take you down.

[ She walks straight over to the edge of the building, drops her line, and holds out an arm for him. ]

Just hold on tight.

[ Well there goes the smile, faded suddenly unto a preeetty uncertain look. Sure, he's carried people before— he's even been carried now and then by another gargoyle. But she's just... a human girl. He edges nearer, not quite reaching out. ]

...Are you sure?

Positive. This wire can hold a good bit of weight.

[ It takes a lot of willpower to resist the urge to ask, "do you trust me?" ]

[ He spends a good few more seconds worrying, but does step forward. And not until he reaches out does it occur to him to be embarrassed because, hey, this is a girl. A human girl, and he's currently human, and — oh god. They're even going to get pizza, is that like a date??

Well, the blush is back. In a mutter: ] Uh... ready.

[ She makes sure she's got a good grip on him before stepping off the ledge. It's not her first time with a passenger, nor will it be her last. The trip only lasts a second, and they're safe on the ground having neither collided with the building itself nor tumbled haphazardly to the ground. She lets him go with a pleased little smile. ]

There you go. That wasn't so bad, was it?

[ There's a definite sigh of relief when they hit the ground without any broken bones. ]

Any landing you can walk away from, right? [ He straightens his totally fashionable jacket, and glances over at her costume with a sudden thought. ] Are you going to go like that?

[ She raises an eyebrow at him. She finds herself doing that a lot lately. ]

I wasn't planning on going. I wear the mask for a reason, you know.
