WHERE: The new Avengers Embassy, at Stark Tower (the one that's not the Porter building)
WHEN: Tuesday, Sept. 25th afternoon to evening
WARNINGS: Probably nothing?
SUMMARY: Max Lord introduces the newest member of the Avengers to the team: Black Panther! Everyone, get to know each other, this is for mingling of all sorts.
FORMAT: Quick.

[ It's not exactly a meeting; they can discuss pertinent issues (as always, Max has a whole agenda of topics to bring to the table) another time, because today, what Max wants to talk to the Avengers about is short and sweet. It's something to celebrate! Within their brand new Headquarters Max Lord stood in a brown suit and a checkered tie, a table laid out with food and drinks running the length of the wall to his side. ]

Now, I know we have a lot of Avengers business to discuss, especially since some of us were gone for most of the month. But that's not what we're here today for. But of course if you want to talk shop later I won't stop you.

I'd like to present you all with the newest addition to our team: please welcome Black Panther to the Avengers. I think we can all agree we had a few [ Er. ] holes to fill... and this is our guy. In fact, I think a few of you know each other already.

Oh, I'll share with the entire team. Not today, though. I think we should let them all get to know their new teammate before we lay the business back on them.

[ A pause. Yeah, that socializing thing. ]

Of course, of course. It's probably for the best. I'm sure everyone needs time to adjust.

Maybe this weekend. [ He blows another line of smoke. ] Or next week, timing depending.

Well, you know how we Avengers like to stick to our timeframes, good thing you're giving us some wiggle room. [ The sarcasm is light, but it's definitely there. He says it with enough amusement to hint that he's joking. ]

I do always try to factor in the possibility of emergencies and catastrophes.

Good plan. We never know when that's going to throw a wrench in things. [ He pauses. ]

By the way, if you're looking for ways on that, I've got a few extra tricks here and there, so anything I can do to help, I'll offer it.

I'd expect nothing else. This is going to have to be a group effort to be in any way effective.

Do you have something you want to suggest?

I was thinking of putting together a little something for quick communication, actually. Foolishly, maybe, we've been relying on the network, and our private lines. It was mostly a cost-cutting measure on my part, but since we're going to hopefully have a couple ways to mitigate that, maybe it's time to bring that back on the table.

[ He smirks. ]

If we can equip all the Avengers with specialized direct-line communicators, we could even streamline future meetings to be via video-screen.

[ He smiles ] Now you're just encouraging me never to leave my workshop.

We're aiming for convenience. That's all.

Hey, you won't hear me complaining, Max. The more I don't have to leave the lab, the more improvements I can make to my suit. [ He paused, wincing. ] Well, that and figuring out the next wave of electronics to develop.

How much more improvement does it need?

[ Eyebrow arch. This reminds him of costuming again but he's not even going to try... ]

For your company, you mean?

[ Tony gave him a little half-smile. Good thing he didn't mention the color change. ]

Well, the suit can always use improvements. It's never going to be perfect, so I'm never going to be satisfied. Technology is funny like that, with new discoveries, I can improve it, and with technology, there's always going to be a competitor trying to one-up me. You'd be surprised how many improvements I can make to it, and how many upgrades I can make to our current products. I like having a few projects going on at once.

Oh, I doubt I would be. I've known a lot of people who felt just the same way. Inventors are all perfectionists.

[ He shrugs one shoulder. Oh boy, he walked into that one. ]

As long as you still put in the team for the team, you can wage war against technology and business all you like.

Don't worry about me, Max. I'm a hell of a team player. [ That was his wholly professional assessment, but boy was it off. Max, he's the worst team player ever ]

The Avengers are my first priority.

That's all I ask.

[ He takes another drag of his cigar. ]

Because our next move is going to involve a lot of pacifying the press.

Hey, now that's something I think we can all get behind. Anything in particular on that front? We'll need to get the right people in on that one.

[ Not that he's saying some of the Avengers have bad charisma, but, well, Tony thinks some of them do. ]

We should work on getting that plan off the ground as soon as possible.

Yes. There's the fiasco at the UN that we need to make a statement on. [ He raises his eyebrow. ] We need at least one media spot to remind the public who's protecting them.

Agreed, and agreed. As long as it doesn't get too cheesy. Media spots are a little tough to get right.

I can handle it if you're worried about that. I've certainly got the formula down.

I never had any doubt, Mr. Lord. I'll admit while I know how to deal with the press, some parts of PR I leave to the experts. I couldn't make a commercial to save my life.

I can do all the talking. [ He exhales a little smoke, furrowing his eyebrows thoughtfully. ] I'll just need an Avenger or two to stand next to me and look heroic. I can talk the talk, but I'm not the one flying into battle.

Well, if you want me for something like that, I'd be more than happy to help. I could even stay silent for a few moments.

Great. I should really hope so.
