SUMMARY: Ned invites the whole City to the Pie Hole. He and Zatanna are cooking and baking everything (there are meat and meatless options), but feel free to bring a favorite from home!

[From the outside, the Pie Hole hasn't changed much, though the window is draped in elaborate snowflake-shaped lights, but inside is a whole other story. Zatanna has made quite a spectacle of the place, a huge banquet hall filled with long and short tables for enjoying your meal with any number of friends. And the decorations are outrageous. Ned's Christmas decorations, which were already over-the-top have all been magically enhanced and Thanksgivingsized like little crystalline pumpkin baubles and overspilling cornucopia on each buffet table, lined up in front of the kitchen. Ned is firmly putting his foot down this year: no one is to enter his kitchen but Zee or himself.

He'll be serving regular pie menu as well as breakfast (frittatas) until twelve noon at which point there will be an hour or two for people to arrive and mingle. The food will be out by 1:30-2 pm and dessert to be served at 3 pm. Ned just wants everyone to have a great day so come in and make yourself at home!! There are a few kegs as well if you all didn't listen and byob...]

[Zee has spent most of the day in the kitchen with Ned (as he is a cautious Whiny McWhinerston and won't allow anyone else in it with him). She started drinking around noon, but has managed to avoid keeping it from becoming a string of drink after drink. Currently, Zatanna has a glass of white wine in her hand -- it's brought from her own cellar, so it's presumably good.

She takes in a moment of silence while she can.]

[Kang's had a few drinks already, but he's feeling pretty mellow and cheerful at the moment. He recognizes Zatanna from the network and heads over to talk to her.]

I should thank you for the food, ma'am, since you helped cook it. It was very good.

[She raises her glass and thankfully doesn't slur her words when she speaks.]

Hey, no problem. Someone had to give Ned a hand and I wasn't going to have a separate Thanksgiving if he wasn't coming -- and just Zatanna's fine.

[Oh, well, that saves him the trouble of asking what her name is again. He'd only spoken with her once, months ago. He raises his own drink and smiles.]

You wouldn't want me back there to help. I've never cooked anything beyond roasting something on a spit before.

[Hey, man. There's no reason not to talk again, right? She lifts her glass to give it a soft clink to his.]

Then it's probably for the better as he doesn't have one of them. It might end disastrously for us both.

[His head goes to one side slightly after he sips at his beer.]

I didn't expect such a turnout. [He wipes his brow absently before replacing his towel over his shoulder.] I hope there's enough... turkey.

There is, I think. If not, I think we'll have to let me cheat and magic some up.

I guess I can make an exception... just this once.

Only because there's not much of another choice other than "sorry, we're out." Believe me, I prefer the home-cooked approach, as well. [It's why she had helped him, after all!]

[Silence? You wanted silence? Nope sorry, you get a Kenzi instead. Who just kind of plops down next to Zee in a semi-drunken state. She's not so deep in the booze that she's unable to get around but she's definitely getting there.]

Zeeeeeeee! I think this has been the best day ever. Totes makes up for all the shitty shit lately.

Ah, so what part makes up for it? All the food? [Free booze, probably. She knows because that's how Zee would feel about it. Well, and the pie.] Things been kinda crappy lately, I take it?

Mmn, the food, people, booze. [She nods and takes a sip of whatever it is she's working on now.] Super crappy. But this makes it better.

Yeah, it's not a bad day. I'm glad it's been so relaxed! Last year, the parade was hijacked and people were poisoned. It's nice to have a quiet holiday every now and then. [With cool people and copious amounts of alcohol.] Well, whatever it is, I hope it smooths out soon for you.

Ew. Soooo glad that didn't happen this year. After the shit in Venezuela and then the whole...murder dome [she sneers and takes another drink], this is better. Plus...people I know that were in on that shit should be back soon, right?

[He may not know this woman, but he can see she's been in and out of the kitchens--which can mean only one thing.]

[Yep, he approaches her while she's drinking just to ask that. Rude.]

Yeah? What's it to ya? [Because he doesn't seem too pleased. Might as well start off on the defense!!]

[Here, have this long, serious, suspicious stare. Before finally, most grudgingly...]

The food was pretty good.

[She just kind of... tilts her head to the side, ever-so slightly and stares right back with conviction.]

Thanks. [What the hell is going on? Is he pissed because she can cook?]

[Actually, it's more like the stare of one warrior sizing up and finally respectfully acknowledging another. Because he can't just admit that he cooks and as another chef he appreciates her efforts. Oh no. That would be too easy.]

The white meat did get dry a little bit too easily, and some of the cranberry sauce was slightly thick. All in all, though...a commendable effort.

[No, he has to nitpick it for (possibly imaginary) flaws. Even though Thanksgiving meals are about the least familiar sort of food possible to him.]

(he's only really here to say hello to her. the rest of those losers can stuff their faces for all they care, but he slides next to her and steals her glass of wine.)

(he takes a sip of that, making a face as he shoves it back in her hand.) Why do you drink that stuff?
