SUMMARY: Ned invites the whole City to the Pie Hole. He and Zatanna are cooking and baking everything (there are meat and meatless options), but feel free to bring a favorite from home!

[From the outside, the Pie Hole hasn't changed much, though the window is draped in elaborate snowflake-shaped lights, but inside is a whole other story. Zatanna has made quite a spectacle of the place, a huge banquet hall filled with long and short tables for enjoying your meal with any number of friends. And the decorations are outrageous. Ned's Christmas decorations, which were already over-the-top have all been magically enhanced and Thanksgivingsized like little crystalline pumpkin baubles and overspilling cornucopia on each buffet table, lined up in front of the kitchen. Ned is firmly putting his foot down this year: no one is to enter his kitchen but Zee or himself.

He'll be serving regular pie menu as well as breakfast (frittatas) until twelve noon at which point there will be an hour or two for people to arrive and mingle. The food will be out by 1:30-2 pm and dessert to be served at 3 pm. Ned just wants everyone to have a great day so come in and make yourself at home!! There are a few kegs as well if you all didn't listen and byob...]

[ Rin says simply. For now she won't tease him. It'll be so much better when he discovers his error later on. ]

It's fowl. That's not an uncommon type of food and I can make judgments in your best interest based on that.

There's no reason it can't be both. You would probably pitch a fit if your food didn't taste good, so naturally I prioritized quality and your best interest at the same time.

[ He stares blankly at her. For all that he understands her so well, he just doesn't get this girl sometimes. Why should it matter whether he was thinking of her? ]

It's because you've been doing a poor job of thinking of yourself lately. I can't trust you not to busy yourself with sulking and pass out from hunger.

[ He hesitates a moment. He has a bad feeling about what he's going to ask next, but still-- ]

If you're going to shut yourself up like that, you could at least learn to use the network.

[ He has to try. Even if it means confronting the subject of what happened the last time she tried to use the network. ]

[ Much like a frightened animal backed into a corner, Rin lashes out with an attack that startles even herself. Honestly, if she was going to eat anything today, it ought to be her foot. ]

I see no point in it. Why can't I just have a regular landline instead?

[ He refuses to let himself flinch at that. If his eyes darken for a moment...well, it's only a moment, and then it's gone, and he's giving her a hard, unimpressed stare.

She needs to learn to use the network, so that she finds more people to rely on here than him. ]

[ In actuality, she's already begun to watch some of the calls that come in. It's interesting, she wants to say, how Archer doesn't want to destroy this city now that she's returned to it. ]

I don't need a device to determine whether or not I'm special, Archer. A hero might need it if their eyes aren't that great--[ Taking a slight shot at him again. ]--but for a teenager girl who rather stay at home and tend to your cat while you're away...

[ He has no idea. For now, he's still stuck on imagining her as too helpless and lost in her angst to reach out to the network on her own. ]

It's fortunate that my eyes are in exceptional shape, then. I use the device because it's useful.

[ Raising a brow at this... ] Magic is required to use this device?

[ HOLY SHIT, SUDDENLY SHE HAS AN INTEREST IN THIS. ]

Not that it would be too difficult of a task for me. If magic is required to make it look attractive, then my natural skill and beauty will certainly shine through.

[ Peering over the table towards him. ] Not that I need a lecture on it, just a refresher, but what is this 'fonts'?

That certainly might be the case.

[ It's possible! After all, it's imPort-only, and maybe the 'Porter is magical?

That's exactly why it seems ridiculous that you aren't on the network already, Rin. I cut you some slack for how it turned out last time, but I think it needs your talent.

[ He reaches into his pocket to take out his communicator. ]

A font is the sort of text you use. Some people leave theirs unadorned, but others have enough aptitude with the proper magics to do...mmm, something like this.

[ He's skimming through recent entries, picking out the first thread he finds that looks to be done in attractive colors. Which means that what gets shown to Rin is this conversation. He glanced over it to make sure that the main post wasn't immediately accessible from there and that nothing too vicious was said. He's sure it's appropriate for Rin to see.

He didn't actually read it thoroughly, though, which is why she's being shown Kanaya and Rose's relationship drama. ]

[ That was the most blinding and painful thing to read. Normally this might be where she issues a complaint, but instead she finds herself fascinated by the different colors. ]

Those of us with talent should have the best and brightest colors then, right?

[ She's already picturing how large to make it too... ]

[ He continues to smile serenely at her, even as it dawns on him what he's unleashing. ]
