[Come December first, Zatanna's already done a number on the house. Mostly in that she has finally relinquished her death-grip on the spooky Halloween mansion that it had been for Halloween (that had morphed into Thankschilling Day).

By the eighth, she has given up on normalcy and forced snow upon the house itself and the front and backyards; it is natural and cold and wet to the touch. More importantly, it's clean. It doesn't melt much or get sloshy and muddy. The forest she'd created for Halloween remains, though not overgrown. The air is sweet with the smell of pine, but not thickly so. She's cleared it out a little, made it easier to navigate. There is now plenty of room for building snow people and snow forts, in addition to the occasional snowball fight.

The inside of the house no longer (quite as) spooky. The fireplace in the living room seems to permanently be full of logs and remains lit even when no one is home. Halfway through the month, a pine tree also appears, growing through some dimensional wormhole so it remains real without having to cut one down. The dining room has a warm glow from candles and wall sconces and the kitchen seems to always have some wonderful smell wafting from it.

There is a fat orange Persian walking around, dressed as a reindeer. It doesn't seem perturbed by its costume and appears quite content, although trying to curl up and sleep almost anywhere in between desired pettings. Hermes has become more mellowed out since Halloween (and much larger, too) and only wears antlers on his head. Teekl and Gabranth declined to join the festivities.

This holiday season is going to be good. Or, hopefully at least much better than last year's.]

Maybe you should choose your words a little more carefully. [He wasn't all that different than she was. He heard what he wanted to hear most of the time, too. She pauses for a moment, considering her own words before deciding on just avoiding this altogether. She gestures behind her toward the house.] I'm going to go back inside.

How do you know I didn't mean to bring 'em over like that? [Here we go again...]

[ He doesn't seem even remotely phased. ]

That's okay, I think I can figure it out! Just tell me what to do.

I could drink to that. [She starts toward the cellar.] Is it too early for wine? We should have some wine.

Manners, even! I'm flattered. [She considered making it from here, but instead gets up to do it. Because she doesn't like crap, she heats up some milk instead of water to mix it with. While that's being done, she looks around for where she put the marshmallows because those are Very Important.]

So, this is your first Christmas, huh? [She turns away, back facing him while she asks.] Have you made a wishlist, yet?

If you did, then I'll have to apologize again.

[He sighed, flopping down on the couch.] Don't bother. M'glad you like them.

[He shrugged] It's never too early... right? In good company, at least.

Good. They were nice as they were, too. Just so you know. [She presses a hand on the arm of the sofa and leans in to give him a soft kiss on the cheek.

And then immediately leave the room so it doesn't get weird.]

[She pauses to look at what he's making. She didn't realize he was making one of her. She allows him to slip away further, if only for now. He's busy, after all.]

I don't think there's anyone seeking my hand right now, Larsa. There's nothing to worry about.

[He shifts his head to watch her go--it's a sight he's familiar with. But he doesn't say anything, just quietly waits for her return. Unless this was his cue to leave.]

[She comes back with hot cocoa. There is alcohol in it. She holds out a mug to him, but quickly shifts to placing it on the coffee table before him and goes to take a seat next to him (where there's room, at least).]

You felt a little cold.

[He sits up a bit, struck with a very odd sort of deja vu. Especially since it reached so many years back through his memory. Numbly, he took up the cup and drank.]

Comes with having no circulation, huh. [But he lifted it in obvious show of thanks.]

Mm, yeah. Can you feel it, though? When something's warm? [She doesn't mean to be rude or inconsiderate. Just the thought of that sensation. Is it lost on him, now?]

[He nodded, slowly, leaning away from her though it wasn't conscious or even intentional.]

Yeah. Yeah, I can feel it.

Precisely. Then, when you're asked where you were or what you were doing, you have a valid answer that doesn't involve hiding or avoiding social interaction.

I was only teasing!

[But a grunt as he goes back to his splitting, also avoiding anything further.] Thanks for the coffee. I'll be in soon.

What?! No, of course I would mind! [As Ned pushes him towards the dough, Klarion just looks at it, frowns, then gives Ned a Very Grumpy Look.]

No, not really. [Klarion shrugged, continuing to put the finishing touches on the indecipherable black and white cookie.]

I don't see why I should. After all, if I want something then I will get it myself.

How smart of you. Normally, I would simply vanish from their sight. [aka 'run away']

I don't know what that means.

[Shooooved right back.]

Did you just call me a hooker or something.

Do you want to eat the cookies?

(He looks at her, assessing her the same way that he would assess legislature before it goes to Senate. It's not a voluntary action, sadly, it's one that's been happening a lot.)

Then, your relationship with Mr. Bond?

I do not want it, you can have it. (is that more clear? how about he just... throw it in the fire.)

And the fact that he watches every move you make and passes judgment on you.

(he sticks his hand in his pockets, standing with his back to everyone else.)
