[Jessica is still in mourning for Jason being in jail, but she's handling it like a champ. She's dolled herself up in her sassiest party dress and curled her hair perfectly in anticipation for this outing with The Flash. If her boyfriend is going to be in prison for the foreseeable future, she may as well amuse herself a bit. After all, Jason was the one who encouraged her to go ahead with this date.

Anyways, she's inside Jason's apartment waiting for her date to pick her up, pretending it isn't all that weird, hanging out in one boy's place while waiting for another. Oh well. It's a distraction, and she direly needs one tonight.]

[ Wally arrives outside her door exactly at the time arranged, in a blur of movement. Being early would just mean more waiting, and he couldn't possibly wait long enough to be late.

He rings the doorbell and braces himself for yet more waiting. Life is hard when you're fast. ]

[After about ten seconds she buzzes the door to let him in, voice a sing-song as it crackles over the intercom:]

Hi! Just come up the stairs, I'm almost ready!

[She has more lipgloss to apply, you see.]

Sure thing. [ Of course she's not ready yet. Women. Gosh. A second later he's up the stairs, door closed behind him. ] Nice place.

Thanks.

[She emerges from the bathroom a moment later, plastering on her most convincing grin.]

It's my boyfriend's place. He's kind of in jail now though.

[ Fortunately he was prepared for that bit of knowledge, so he doesn't miss a beat. It's not a serious date anyway, just passing the time. Yeah. ]

What'd he do?

There was this guy that was trying to kidnap a bunch of kids. Jason shot him in the knee. And then he got charged with illegally possessing a gun and assault. And then he skipped his court date so they put a warrant out for him. He's kind of an idiot.

[She looks sad for a fleeting moment.]

Anyways, I'm hungry. Let's eat!

Sure sounds like it. [ Kneecapping is maybe a little extreme, and the guy sounds more like a mobster than a hero. But he shakes it off, because obviously she doesn't want to talk about it. Why would she? He offer her his arm, mostly for show. Once she's braced herself he'll just scoop her up. ]

My lady.

[sweetvalleygirl]

[She takes his arm, giggling as he pulls her up into his arms.]

This is safe, right? You won't drop me on my ass?

I would never. I do this all the time, trust me. Usually in burning buildings. This is a cinch.

[ He does have to pause to close the door behind them and let her lock it, but almost before she even has a chance to react they're moving. The forcefield that protects him extends to protect her as well, and the motion is nothing more than a strong wind and a bit of pull. ]

[Jessica lets out a sharp gasp as he takes off, squealing as they start to move. It's almost dizzying the way he moves, nothing like she'd imagined it would be. For some reason she had it in her head that it would be terrifying, but it's really more thrilling than anything else.

And, miraculously, it gets Jessica to shut up.]

[ It's a matter of seconds and fractions of seconds. Because it's a date, to be extra nice, he actually slows down a good distance before the restaurant and comes to a gentle, half-trotting stop. ]

You okay?

[ If she's too freaked out he'll give her a minute before making her stand. ]

[She nods, clinging to him for a moment longer than necessary. She's really just fine, but why rush to get out of his arms just yet?]

Wow. That was... [She shakes her head, what can she even say? The desire to be cutting and cruel still exists, but that was genuinely a rush and she's not about to pretend otherwise.] That was awesome!

[ Wally chuckles as he sets her upright. He totally agrees, it's pretty awesome. ]

Glad you enjoyed it. We'll have to do it again some time.

[She tugs at her skirt and gives an enthusiastic nod.]

Yes please. It's even more thrilling than riding on a motorcycle.

[And once they're both upright and settled, she'll make toward the restaurant.]

Ooh, how cute! It smells nice, too!

[ Wally speeds up to the hostess, who tells him that it will be another five minutes and to please be patient, it's Valentine's Day. In a moment he's back at her side. ]

It's a great little place, I eat here a lot. She says five more minutes.

I guess we'll just have to be patient.

[Says the most impatient girl in the room.]

How many minutes has it been so far?

About one minute forty-five seconds. [ Says the most impatient man in the room. ]

So tell me about yourself, Jessica. Since we've got time.

Let's see... I'm eighteen, I've been in the City for two years. I'm originally from Sweet Valley, which is just outside L.A. Back home it's 1984. I'm a cheerleader, I write a fashion column for City Lights magazine and I have an identical twin sister named Elizabeth.

[She smiles angelically.]

[ Twin sisters, huh. One day this classic blonde and her sister will make someone very, very happy. ]

Who, me? I'm a superhero, helped form the Justice League, been saving Central City for years now. [ He is taking full advantage of this opportunity to show off. ] They're about to dedicate a museum to me back home. Folks really love the Flash.

An entire museum to you? Really?

[She looks intrigued, almost enamored. Clearly she's been after the wrong man all this time! Why has she wasted her time with a lowly zombie sidekick like Jason Todd when she could've been spending her time in the arms of a real hero?]

This must be my lucky day.

Yeah, I mean, the League helped with a lot of it, I can't take all of the credit. [ Somehow, he's too honest to brag quite that much. ] Central City and the Flash were practically made for each other. It'll always be my home.

Which one is Central City again? [It's all so confusing, all these weird places like Gotham and Metropolis. Jessica can hardly keep them straight.]

[centralsgreatest]

It's in Kansas. I could show you where but I think they'd give our seat away.

[sweetvalleygirl]

Kansas? [She suddenly looks disappointed.] But Kansas is so...

Rural? Babe, you've never been to Central. [ He says with utter confidence that his home town is the best and everyone else can shut up. ]
