As you enter through the doors of the Danger Room, the sound of cicadas chirping clues you into your arrival to a tropical paradise. Red and orange lights show a room transformed, vines all along the walls and trees that seem to reach the beyond the ceiling. There's no doubt now, you're deep in the heart of the jungle. You can almost feel the heat of a distant volcano, the humidity wafting in from a river just outside, but that's only your imagination. Luckily, someone had the foresight to bring an exterminator into this jungle beforehand, as there isn't a bug in sight.

Fierce papier mache dinosaurs look down on your throughout the room, some perhaps planning their next meal, others regarding the intruders to their home with something not unlike fear. From the stage, the gleaming jaws of a downed Tyrannosaurus look on at the partiers, hungry even in its taxidermied stated.

But there's one ornament that stands above them all: the mirrored surface of what appears to be a pterodactyl man, reflecting the lights all across the room in ways most disco balls only wish they could.

Welcome to the Savage Land. Hope you survive the experience!

Oh, no. Usually, this room is rather bland. [ Not counting holograms during various training sessions, of course. ] The prom is very fun. It is a good excuse to go all-out, I suppose.

Do you think we did all right? Are you having fun?

[topslug]

It looks amazing. I've never seen anything like it. [ She says that with full sincerity, looking around the room appreciatively before letting her focus get tugged back to Kurt. ]

I've had a pleasant time so far. I'm glad this was open for everyone.

And we are glad to keep the open invite. I'm glad to hear you're having a good time. [ Considering that he's encountered both angry teenagers and awkward wallflower-types so far. It really is good to know this thing isn't secretly a flop. ]

I'm always worried the night is sort of hit-or-miss.

[topslug]

[ Poor Kurt. Then again, he might feel less good about the whole thing knowing that Yako's opinion of an event's success tends to revolve around the amount and the quality of the food available.

She grins a little, though, finding the situation a bit amusing. ]

It's a little odd for a teacher to be more anxious over prom than the students themselves, isn't it?

[themisfit]

Well, I am a little odd either way, aren't I?

[ He shrugs, smiling easily enough as he makes digs at himself. ] Aside, I'm beginning to think that near-everything makes me anxious, so I suppose it's not so out-of-place after all.

[topslug]

[ By his expression, she takes it that she's expected to smile as well, and she does so a little more broadly. ]

I've seen odder. [ And she means that sincerely. ] Are you afraid there will be trouble?

[themisfit]

Perhaps nothing huge, you know, as the City tends to deliver. [ Beat. ] Knock on wood.

But putting a good deal of super-powered adolescents and then some in a room with a special-occasion atmosphere? It's quite possible that someone or another will bicker, or come to show off, or something like that.

[topslug]

I see what you mean. [ The look she casts over the rest of the room is warier now, like someone sizing up a bomb that may be about to go off at any time. ]

Let's hope it doesn't come to that. [ She pauses, glancing at him. ] It doesn't keep you from enjoying yourself, does it?

[themisfit]

Oh, no. I have a natural tendency towards stubbornly enjoying life as much as possible. It usually works out just fine. [ He had his moments of doom and gloom, of course, but this was a party. If you can't have fun at a party, what are you doing with your life? ]

And you? I hope I have not frightened you with my paranoia.

[topslug]

Don't worry, it takes more than that to frighten me. [ And that's completely honest, the words spoken with a quiet confidence and a small smile. ]

Good. You might need that resilience. [ Not just for prom, either. The City's kind of awful sometimes, and things are bound to get worse pretty soon. ]
