he's got a problem with his poisons but you know he'll find a cure
WHO: NORMAN OSBORN and ADRIAN VEIDT
WHERE: Oscorp
WHEN: Earlier in the week.
WARNINGS: Creepy jerks? ...??
SUMMARY: Job interviews/first meetings, tours, and beyond.
FORMAT: Whatever.
Although Norman's standards were high, he tried not to keep his interview process too rigorous. Rebuilding a company from scratch wasn't an easy job, and there were certain areas he couldn't afford to be too picky with if he wanted to succeed.
So though he was selective about who he hired, there was plenty of room for flexibility. No background checks were one checkpoint, and credentials he had to take at someone's word. At least until he could put them to a practical test.
Still, it was obvious that more employees meant a smoother running business, so he wasn't at all cagey when it came to meeting with Adrian Veidt. To the contrary; he was very interested in meeting this man.

i am so late and so sorry but here i am
Still, opportunities were opportunities. Any job was a stepping stone to reestablishment, to gaining back the ground lost by coming to the city, making connections, learning the differences between his world and this. So it wasn't a total wash.
The interview gets set up in kind of a round about way with Connors as the middle man passing on Adrian's information and he finds himself at Oscorp face to face with Norman Osborn himself. A good opportunity, indeed.]
Thank you for meeting with me, Mr. Osborn. I'm sure you keep plenty busy with your corporation on its own without having to meet strangers on the word that they might be useful.
[Of course, he more than intended to prove that usefulness.]

Well, a corporation still needs people to help run it, and unfortunately I can't know all of them.
[ His smirk grows a little, as if that was a joke (maybe it was). ]
So you know Connors, hm? I imagine you must have some impressive qualifications or I doubt you'd be here today.

We spoke when I first arrived here, yes. Back home i was well established in the business world but here one has to start from scratch. We discussed my experiences and he suggested I meet with you.

[ He nods as well, tilting his head as he withdraws his hand away. ]
So, Mr. Veidt, what do you see yourself doing here at Oscorp? What are your biggest strengths?
[ Not that it's too formal of an interview, or even questioning, but it's good to ask. He wants to get a feel for the guy. ]

If my intentions to continue to achieve as a businessman discourage you from employing me, I understand, but in turn you would lose the chance for an employee with a great deal of expertise willing to be put in a position far below that which he held at home not because he needs the money but because he wants to learn and work. I have had far too many dealings with businessmen who do it for greed and for status and whose presence may as well have been worse than having an employee who may some day leave you to follow different things.
At home, I was referred to as the smartest man in the world and it is a title that I was proud to have earned - but I assure you that it was just that, something earned, not something given. My entire career has been marked by determination and vision with a really honest work ethic that I think most people lack.

[ He waves his hand. ]
Everyone has to start somewhere. It won't discourage me, although obviously depending on your duration of stay it'll determine where I put you. If you have an estimate, that'll help. [ He pauses, then continues with a slight eyebrow raise. ] Do you know anything about science, or are you more in the front line of these kinds of things?

[Or any challenge, really.]
I would be willing to be on contract for a year, and then a month by month basis after that, if it would suffice.

[ He pats Adrian's shoulder. ]
Contracts are mostly just paper around here. Sometimes even the good employees disappear without any notice. Do your best to stick around, at least. [ It's wry. ] Don't worry, I'll show you how everything works.

[He smiles this has gone so well!! go team]
I'll do my best to stick around.
