WHO: Kenzi and Gil
WHERE: The Zoo
WHEN: 8/10; Morning/Afternoon
WARNINGS: Kenzi's mouth? Gil freaking out over very big cats?
SUMMARY: Kenzi told Gil she was going to take him to the zoo...so they're going.
FORMAT: Quick
[It's nine in the morning and Kenzi...is running a little late. She gets up early enough, early for her anyway, and gets ready to go. Dresses in a light dress and somewhat sensible, as Kenzi doesn't really do a shoe below a three inch heel, shoes; she's even wearing sunglasses and some sunhat that goes along with her dress like Gil said she should. Her bag has sunscreen, which she's already slathered on, and some water in it for the day. One last check to make sure she had everything that would be needed and she's out the door.
The trip doesn't take long but traffic and everything else keeps her.
At the entrance she catches sight of Gil quickly enough, he really does stand out in a crowd, and rushes over.]
Sorry I'm a little late.

Sorry I'm a little late.

Then it occurs to him she's touching his face. Contact. Skin on skin.
His face burns hotter with embarrassment. ]
C-Close my eyes?
no subject
Or you can just stare at the ground, just don't look around.

Okay...
no subject
Okay, I'm going to start walking now, ready?
no subject
Yeah...

She occasionally gives Gil the instructions to move left or right in order to avoid colliding into anyone and before long they're past the cats. She doesn't immediately release him, however.]
You can open your eyes now. [When he does so he'll find the aquarium standing before them. Like the avian house there's cartoonish paintings of various aquatic creatures on the walls. It also appears to be busier than the avian house was with families filtering in and out, mostly in. The children all excited and chattering about seeing the penguins and the seals.]

Another horrible idea arises in his thoughts: what if they have certain feline-like animals roaming about freely?
He gulps, saying nothing. He doesn't want to know really.
When she assures him it's safe to look, he slowly opens one eye and then the other, gold eyes carefully surveying the area. It really does seem like it's for the sea mammals. ]
Ah...
[ He hasn't seen this much water since he and Donna flew over the ocean together. It's so blue and... charming, in its own way. ]
no subject
You should have warned me you had a problem with big cats! I would have taken us down a different way.
no subject
[ Oh.
He grimaces and averts his gaze quickly. Time to try and save face. ]
I don't have a problem! I mean, I just don't like them!
no subject
[She stares at him with her brows up so high they retreat into her bangs and her chin lowered a bit.] Don't like them? That wasn't a "don't like" reaction.
[Kenzi's no stranger to fear, she lives in a world where she's afraid quite often. Plus, Gil's a terrible a liar.]

After which she turns and starts to head toward where the put on the show.] C'mon if you want a good seat.
no subject
Ow! Knock it off! [ He whines, but before he can do anything else she's already off.
He grumbles and follows. ] They do the show in water?
[ There's a big arena for the seals, but little does he know they sometimes bring out the whale for show, too. All he sees are people getting into the water and assorted hoops and platforms about them. Also buckets packed full of fish. ]
no subject
There's already a few people taking seats and more filtering in, mostly excited children.]
no subject
Jeez...

It takes another ten minutes or so before everything's set up for the show and another five before audience is all filled in and starting to get restless. Luckily it isn't much longer after that that a woman in a wetsuit comes out to greet everyone and introduce them to the couple of seals that will be preforming today.]

Kenzi's right, however -- they are like dogs. Gil watches on as one of them leaps through not one, but three hopes and is rewarded with fish at the end of that trick. When the handler bends over and pokes at their own cheek, the seal reaches up and pecks -- kisses? -- them. ]
They learned all that?
no subject
In response to Gil's question she nods and grins up at him.] Yup. Animals are a lot smarter than people give them credit for.
no subject
[ So the only animals he's familiar with are the ones you would find in a forest or the ones in a city. ]

Eventually when that show is finished and the seals are made to swim back into their retreats, he notices the handlers bringing a whole new bucket of fresh fish and something below in the tank opening up wide enough that could allow for multiple trucks to pass through.
Instead, it's a killer whale that meanders its way into the tank. ]
A whale?!
no subject
The whale coming out is exciting at first and then Kenzi realizes where they're sitting. Oh... Oh no. She doesn't want to leave because she really wants to see the whale but getting wet does not sound fun. She glances around, trying to see if there's seats further away but the place is pretty packed.]
Crap... [She says this quietly, possibly unheard over the children making a ruckus because "IT'S A WHALE MOMMY!"]
no subject
The whale rises slow in its ascent, but its descent is when he realizes what's about to happen. There's no time to move out of his seat; a wave of salt water crashes onto the area they're seated in, with kids and others squealing in delight.
Not Gil.
He blinks back some the water, tasting the salt in his mouth; his hair drenched, just like his clothes, and sticking closely to his skin. ]
Aauuugh!
no subject
She slowly sits up, thankful that most of her front stayed dry, and looks over at Gil. He didn't seem to react in time and all Kenzi can do is laugh at him. She doesn't look much better, truthfully. Her hair was already frizzy from the humidity but once it dried it was going to be curly again.]
