WHO: [livejournal.com profile] catmasked and [livejournal.com profile] lassiface
WHERE: Blue Moon Diner, downtown
WHEN: Saturday afternoon, 2pm
SUMMARY: Lassi offered to file paperwork for Selina's leopard if she took him to lunch.
FORMAT: Para

In truth, Selina didn't really give a damn if she had a license for Ramus or not. When had she ever cared much about the legality of anything she did? But it was clear the detective wasn't going to drop it. Besides, she figured he at least deserved lunch for putting a bullet in the Joker.

She arrived a few minutes after two, "fashionably" late as per usual. Leather jacket and boots to ward off the November chill, sunglasses she took off as soon as she entered the diner, scanning the familiar booths for Lassiter.

Lassiter had shown up about an hour early, overly cautious as always about being late. He was sitting in a back booth by the window looking out on the streets, occasionally glancing out it before returning to the paperwork laid out precisely in front of him. He wasn't sure how much of the paperwork he would be able to fill out, it was all fairly delving and he wasn't sure how much he could get out of Selina and a completely falsified document would be too much for his morals.

Honestly, it was mostly an excuse for lunch. If Spencer was going to throw that Ms. Marvel in his face, he needed something to throw back. (The fact she was nice to look at and relatively interesting and wasn't utterly sick of him yet had nothing to do with it either.)

He looked up and gave a polite sort of nod and smile combo, "Selina," before his face returning to the usual deadpan. He flipped the 4 paged document idly, answering earnestly, "I only filled out whether or not it was a venomous animal. I almost filled out what species it was, but I thought it would be offensive to you if I called a leopard a jaguar or vice versa."

He clicked his pen back into action and swiftly wrote in what she said. "Sex, Age, Weight? . . ." he began to list off further more empty fields, writing down her answers as soon as they came.

Sparing a glance upwards at her suggestion, he quirked an eyebrow and asked almost incredulously, "Pancakes for lunch?"

[identity profile] lassiface.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
He grimaced at her choice of food. Not only was she having breakfast, but it was chocolate chip. Pft, women. But he was challenged, and he couldn't back down from it, right? "Pancakes, no chocolate chips. Maple syrup. Coffee, cream and sugar." He turned his eyes back down to the paperwork, waiting for the man to leave before remarking, "Happy? Now, name, address, phone number of the owner."

He paused in his writing--he heard everything she said and would remember till he returned to writing it down, but his mind had pulled a complete stop when she gave that name. Slowly he looked up at her, somehow resisting the urge to slap his palm to his face in disbelief. "Cathy Whippes. You don't try very hard with false names, do you."

He gave a grin back at the rather nice smile, but caught himself, returning his face to neutral. His eyes fell back to the paperwork at her comment, and he admitted slowly, "I actually rather dislike the paperwork for the most part. Mostly because it's repetitive." He shrugged a little, turning eyes back to hers, "After filling out the same records for well over a decade it loses its charms." That's why he was a bit intrigued by the wild animal license. It was like going to a new watering hole after fishing the same lake for ages.

His gaze fell back to his plate, picking at it has he tried to shrug noncommittally. "Free lunch with nice company. I thought I deserved it."

[identity profile] lassiface.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
He gaped back up at her, shocked she would suggest such a thing. A hundred lectures flitted through his mind, but somehow all that left his mouth was an offended, "I would never!"

[identity profile] lassiface.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
He pursed his lips and glared a little before putting a grin on his face. A very police grin. "It's too bad about that power of yours, else I'd arrest you right here."

She wasn't asking to go to the bathroom and thus mysteriously disappearing. Good sign. He could relax again, waving the waiter over for more coffee. "God, no, believe me, if I wrote a Batman script he would get his comeuppance in the end."

[identity profile] lassiface.livejournal.com 2009-11-24 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
"What, he's dead? I thought he was," he wove his hand vaguely, "here."

[identity profile] lassiface.livejournal.com 2009-11-24 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
His eyebrows lifted a little, then fell into something resembling sympathy. "God, so many alternate universes for you guys. That must be tough."

[identity profile] lassiface.livejournal.com 2009-11-26 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
He watched her eat, finger tapping the mug he held in his hands as he mused briefly to himself. "Could be worse. The blonde you could be here, too."
