The fluffy gray cat looked up at him and meowed. "Shoo, get the hell out of here," Jason pushed the kitten with his foot in the opposite direction. He had hoped that roughing the small thing up enough would encourage it to stay away from him. That wasn't really the case. The cat had managed to follow him all the way home and was conveniently sitting at the threshold of the apartment.

Jason rolled his eyes, "Yeah because we all know what a masochist I am."

She sat up, leaning her face over towards his ear. "Cat scratchings, tongue lashings...what else?"

"Ngh," he moved back away from her. He hated it when he was conscious of distance between them or lack there of. "Wouldn't you like to know..."

She curled her lip a little at his reaction. It irked her. "That's why I asked."

"I'm not just gonna spill just cause you asked, you should know better than that," Jason stood up and wiped off the nonexistent dirt off the front part of his jeans.

"Then I'll just have to adapt a more hands-on approach," Rose replied, smirking up at him for a moment. She leaned back on her hands again, sighing and tilting her head over her shoulder, searching around for the cat.

"Hands-on?" he repeated and arched his eyebrows suspiciously. "Meanining...?"

"Mm," her mouth broke into a crooked grin. "I wonder what on earth that could mean..."

"Fine, be difficult," Jason managed to say with out scowling.

Rose shook her head. "For someone who's supposed to be a detective, you sure do need people to spell things out for you a lot, don'tcha."

"Probably because I don't have the patience to deal with bullshit," he gave her a look.

She glared a little.

"Alright, fine." Rose got to her feet, grabbing the collar of his shirt. "How's this, then?" She jerked him forward and kissed him roughly.

"Wha--unf."

This was pretty far from what Jason expected. He was thinking hands-on in a more aggressive, blood-will-be-shed sort of situation.

He stood frozen, noticing that the cat came out of hiding now and was rubbing against both their legs.

She slowly pulled away, hovering just far enough away to catch glimpse of his reaction.

"Spelled all out for you now?" she breathed.

"...uh huh," he looked blankly at Rose, still at a loss. He wished he wasn't so caught off guard because maybe he would have look less like a moron.

The cat below them started to meow at them, still rubbing at their legs.

"Good."

She knelt down and picked Ash up, rising and setting it in his hands. She gave a satisfied sigh.

"Night."

She turned and strutted into her room, smirking as she closed the door.

He stood there for a few minutes before collecting himself. "Yeah.. night," he muttered well after she had already entered her room.
