SUMMARY: Matt is going to meet Wanda and her "friend" for lunch to discuss her recent cash winnings in Vegas.

[Matt's been hanging around the corner of 46th Street and 9th Avenue for a solid 10 minutes, waiting for Wanda and her friend to arrive. He's at a bit of a disadvantage, its true, being a blind man waiting to meet a pair of strangers he's only conversed with over the phone-communicator-whatever the hell it's called. She and her friend could be standing right there in front of him, and he wouldn't necessarily know them from any other pedestrians buzzing around.

He looks mildly bored, leaning up against a street lamp, trying to kill some more time. Maybe he should have told Wanda he was blind. That might have helped. But oh well, it's done now. The waiting game begins.]

Yes, water under the bridge. We're all in one place, and that's what really matters.

[Matt is intrigued by Pietro's tone, but won't bother to comment on it now. He's encountered men with shaky attitudes before, if it gets to be distracting, he'll deal with it later. So he gives a charming smile, and continues on with the agenda. There are lots of restaurants lining the street, so many food choices, so many lovely smells.]

Now that the issue of finding each other is out of the way, where would you like to go?

[Wanda does not seem to notice Pietro's distaste, far too busy beaming at Matt.]

Oh, I've never been to this street before -- do you have any recommendations?

[Of course she doesn't, and that just proves to irritate him all the more.]

Something simple and, preferably, fast. If you wouldn't mind.

[He crosses his arms and screws up his face into something that totally isn't a pout.]

[Matt can practically hear the expression on Pietro's face, and if he weren't so busy trying to act like a professional, he might have chuckled a bit. What was the deal with them, he can't help but wonder. This guy seems awfully overprotective to be just a friend...]

There's a deli a block down. I've never been there, but it smells nice. And I suspect sandwiches will be fast enough for you, friend.

[She catches his tone, this time, and glances over at him in startled reproach before just as quickly turning a smile back on Matt.]

That sounds perfect. If you'd lead us, Matt?

[He's decidedly okay with the reproachful look, if it'll get her to knock it off. Except it doesn't seem to be working, so Pietro just scowls more.]

Yes, please, lead the way.

Great, if you'll follow me.

[There is very little fanfare as he heads off for the deli, walking slower than his usual pace, just to be sure that Wanda and her friend are following. The deli is open and inviting, and it smells amazing. There is bound to be something to suit everyone's appetites. It's one of those places where you can sit anywhere and order at the counter.]

[Wanda looks around the deli in undisguised delight, drinking in the sight and smell of it.]

It's perfect.

[She approaches the counter, already examining the menu thoughtfully.]

[Pietro is surprised by exactly how excellent the place looks, but quickly hides his enthusiasm behind a generically underwhelmed expression.]

This is acceptable, yes. Should we order first, or find a table?

[Matt has already joined Wanda at the counter, placing his order quickly and fishing around his wallet for enough miscellaneous bills to cover his meal.]

You two go ahead and order, I'll find us a seat.

[Which he does, heading toward the back of the deli, finding an empty table with enough chairs and room for the three of them.]

[She spends a few moments considering, and then orders carefully, rooting through her bag for her wallet -- how had she managed to acquire so much purse clutter in so little time?]

[Not even bothering to wait for the attendant to finish writing down Wanda's order, Pietro speeds through his. Before Wanda's looked up from rummaging through the bag, he's handed the cashier more than enough to cover both meals.]

We should go find your friend.

[He's still displeased with just how friendly she's being, but... He just has to be better. That's all.]

[He raises an eyebrow, listening to them as they place their orders, smiling cordially as he waits for them to join him at the table.]

So, shall we get down to business? I understand you've recently come into a great deal of money.

[Wanda looks at Pietro in surprise, then grins and thanks him, leading the way to sit across from Matt with a smile.]

Ah.. yes, rather.

[Oh-so-casually, she pulls a folded check from her purse, flattening it out on the table and pushing it towards him.]

[Pft. As if he would let Wanda pay. Pietro takes the empty seat and scoots it perhaps a little closer to Wanda's side of the table than necessary. He's still not convinced this financial planner is on the level and doesn't particularly approve of just how trusting Wanda is being.]

[He takes the check and flattens it also, running his fingers over the ink, expression obviously intrigued as his attention settles on the sum.]

That's quite a bit of money there, Ms. Maximoff. And if I understood you correctly, you don't currently have a bank account?

[He sounds slightly skeptical. And he's also a little put off by Pietro. Perhaps it would be better if he knew who he was dealing with...]

I'm sorry sir, I didn't catch your name.

[She shakes her head, a little reproachful.]

I have not been here very long.. and I always used my aunt's account, back home. We never needed much.

[Turning to Matt, Pietro frowns appraisingly before replying.]

I hadn't given it. Pietro Maximoff.

[Huh. Her husband, perhaps? Or... no. Matt inhaled quickly, letting their individual scents settle over him. They were very similar, each distinct, but close enough that he could tell they were related. Cousins, or siblings. Hm, yes.]

Right. Well the first thing I would suggest is immediately going to a bank and setting up an account. Carrying a loose check around like that is a little dangerous.

[Wanda's attention snaps back to him, having been momentarily distracted by a family out the window.]

Ah.. yes, I suppose that makes sense. Is there.. some bank in particular you'd recommend?

[He isn't thrilled at the idea of more businessmen in dark suits, but Pietro keeps it to himself for the most part.]

Yes. I'm afraid we're both slightly inexperienced in such matters.

Most of the financial institutions I'm most familiar with seem to be exclusive to my version of the universe. But there are some very reputable banks here in Manhattan. Any of them would be more than willing to help you set up an account.

[He pauses as a member of the waitstaff appears with their food.]

[Wanda turns to smile at the waiter, making an appropriately satisfied comment over the state and promptness of their service before turning her eyes back to Matt, tone light.]

I'm sure it can't be that hard, if everyone in America does it.

[Unsurprisingly, Pietro found the service slow and says as much to the server. The food, however, looks better than acceptable, so he can't maintain the sour attitude for very long.]

Indeed. Perhaps after we finish here, we can start looking. Mr. Murdock, is there anything Wanda should be particularly wary of when setting up her account?

Any of the major banks in the city should meet your needs just fine. You may be interested in a money market account, if you're planning on investing the funds. That would limit the number of withdrawals you'd be able to make, but the interest rates are much higher. You'd earn more money that way.

[He tastes his sandwich, eating in slowly and deliberately, savoring the flavors.]

I'm no expert on this, Wanda, but one thing to keep in mind is that the bankers are in this for a profit too. Though I'd expect they'd would be less likely to try and take advantage of you if Pietro were to go with you.
