It's the most wonderful time of the year. The sun is shining, the mosquitoes are biting, and it's time to think about what the hell you're doing to do with your life now that the summer is winding down. Which is probably why you've ended up at the City Hall sponsored First Semi-Annual Job Fair Spectacular.

The small park has been pretty much taken over by this event. Tables for each company/group that signed up are in rows with either a representative to speak with or a held down stack of promotional materials for any interested parties to pick up. Good luck, job hunters.

[ for the most part, kanaya just looks bored. she's gone about taking photos of the fair already, taking little notes every now and then, but she doesn't know how she's supposed to turn this into a story. she doesn't do stories to begin with, even a ridiculous fluff piece like this, but with how shorthanded the staff is now that their editor-in-chief is gone, everyone has extra slack to pick up.

she spends most of her time at the magazine's booth, fiddling with her sketchbook and putting on her best smile whenever someone passes. she half expects this whole day to be a bust. ]

[ she glances up from her sketchpad and her eyes go wide that very instant, lips stretching into a line. ]

Oh, um. Yeah.

It seems all major imPort-related businesses have some representation here. [ she sits back in her chair, letting out a small laugh. ] With that much to select from, not many are left to care about a magazine like ours.

Our founding editor named it. She thought it shine like a beacon in the face of everything else they were throwing in our direction at the time, but that's just how Donna was. Optimistic.

[ but even a cynic like kanaya couldn't help finding her influential. congratulations renee, the last adult this girl really truly trusted was the little sister of motherfucking wonder woman. ]

Yes, Donna Troy. She was... [ donna troy... how do you begin to describe donna troy? ] Well. Suffice to say that it hasn't been the same without her.

It's been a year, I'm over it.

[ which totally explains why she's mentioning it now. ] So, are the police using this as a new recruitment initiative as well?

I suppose most people don't go seeking out thankless jobs, they simply resolve themselves to them.

[ she just shrugs, she's always had a line ready for that one. ]

The jobs must be done, and there must be someone to do them. That is the resolution demanded.

[Daria sidles up to the booth, quiet as ever, clutching the strap of her backpack that she's thrown over one shoulder.]

Maybe you should be giving away free hats.

[ kanaya gives a small wave when she sees her, but ultimately just shakes her head. ]

Baseball caps are an anathema. No fashion magazine of any repute would be caught undead handing them out.

I was thinking of sombreros. The fashionable alternative.

I don't even understand sombreros. Why would anyone wear a thing like that?

So they can become a member of a mariachi band.

Actually, maybe it would be best if you looked them up. I'm not sure I could describe it without heavy sarcasm.

To be fair, there are very few things I can describe without heavy sarcasm. Mariachi bands just aren't one of them.

You'd have more of a point if you regularly avoided describing anything as a result.
