She also seems to have picked up a bit of an entourage. There is a handful of eager young people, with cameras at the ready, trailing behind her like a strange gaggle of hatchlings. Though, for all their stalking, none seem to have gathered up the courage, yet, to approach her directly, and are somewhat keeping their distance, so far.
Despite this, she's heading more or less directly toward Severus. Despite the crush of people, it's not that difficult to pick out the real magical folk among the crowd. And she's noticed you feel similar to Wizards Remus and Sirius, and Witch Ginny. She also hasn't met you before, so this requires a hello. This is, after all, part of her reason for attending this Convocation of Magic.]

Madam, [A polite greeting; nothing has given him cause to be an ass yet, and this is about networking, not burning bridges, after all.]
no subject
Behind her, the trailing con attendees come more or less to a halt, and some start edging to the side to get a better angle for photos.]
Greetings, sir. I am Ysera.
no subject
[He doesn't recognize her. But she has a fandom entourage and he's picked up a few himself. It's a new thing, this.]
no subject
Ysera ignores them and offers Severus Snape a smile.]
It is a pleasure to meet you. There are fewer true magic users among the crowds here than I had hoped for a Convocation of Magic. But it seems as though all of us have come from the City.
no subject
Muffliato.
[And now, while they can hear the fans, the fans cannot hear them.]
Excuse me. I am not very used to dealing with-- admirers of this sort. I share your feeling, however, on the con...vocation. [He's sure that's not what it called, but still.]

But before she could say anything, there were suddenly a few gasps from the audience and someone in the back actually pointed and said in a shrilly excited tone, "Oh my god, Snape just used a spell! On us! I didn't catch it! Which one was it?!"
Someone else shushed the excitable girl, but it set off another flurry of murmurs and camera flashes.
One of Ysera's long eyebrows twitched, but she turned away from the loudest 'fans' and nodded to Severus.]
It can be quite trying, yes. But they mean no harm.
[She turned her head far enough, that she could have glanced at the crowd out of the side of her vision - if her eyes were open, that is.]
They have not been... quite this boisterous before now.
[She could see all the myriad conversations their audience was imagining they were having. Some of the fantasized conversation topics were really quite absurd... and would be insulting if she didn't know intimately just how flighty and silly the dreams of mortals could be. She turned back to Severus with a slight shake of her head.]
What was that spell you used just now? I am not familiar with that incantation for this type of effect.
no subject
[He pockets his wand again, and then lets his eyse glance to the fans, narrowing eyes as a camera flashes. He hasn't yet encountered the worst of fandom yet, but give it time and he will glimpse it's sunless white underbelly, it's terrible pornography, and the borderline pedophilia...]
I'm not very used to them. But I hate having my conversations observed. I'd rather speak to one of our own without prying ears trying to apply meaning that may not be there.
no subject
Do you prefer the title of Wizard, sir Snape? I have encountered a few others in the City who use the term, rather than Mage, as I am familiar with.
[As they talk, their little crowd is gathering more attention and a few additional fans have stopped to join in the rousing conversation over which spell Snape used. One middle-aged, slightly dumpy woman in a Slytherin scarf is busy making eyes at Snape. When he looks over the crowd, she shoots a nearly poisonous glare at Ysera and then simpers and gives Snape a coy look as he glares in her direction.
Ysera shakes her head slightly, her ears dipping down a bit.]
Humans are quite skilled at making up their own meanings for things they do not understand. It is practically an art form in some circles.
[She smiles faintly, thinking of some of the utter nonsense being spawned in the imaginations of their audience.]
But you are correct in that our conversations are not meant for their ears.
no subject
And wizard is quite fine; do you have a title of preference?
[He glances at the... woman... who is wearing his house colors and giving him that... look. He's not really sure he's reading it right so... dismisses her completely and looks back to Ysera.]
[This may not bode well for Ysera. Snape doesn't know that, though.]
I'm sure. Is there anything specific you seek to learn in your time here?
no subject
Just Ysera is fine. I am not a magic user in the traditional sense you are likely familiar with.
[That woman sighs dreamily as he looks away... and then glares with extra venom at the elven hussy that drew her Snape's attention away. She pulls her cellphone out of her oversized green purse and begins texting furiously, alternating between shmoopy looks toward Snape and glares of a woman scorned at Ysera.
Camera's continue to go off from the crowd, which has gained a contingent of teens and twenty-somethings wearing assorted Hogwarts House scarves, and even a few in full uniform robes. In fact, the size of the crowd itself is drawing curious people over toward it.
Ysera has been mostly trying to tune out the majority of the fantasies and vivid imaginary daydreams swirling around the people in this hotel. All these vividly fantasizing Dreamers packed into this hotel is simply too much to focus on for any length of time. It was dizzying, to say the least.
Between that, and paying attention to Wizard Snape, she was not entirely aware of what was brewing around them.]
I'm hoping to learn more about the other magic users brought to this world. There are many that I do not even know in passing. And I would like to find some who could assist me in a project.
no subject
[Instead, he just-- talks to Ysera. She's one of those people he's here to meet. That's what he's here to do so he'll do it.]
I am currently working with the DOI representative on some magical integration. Perhaps you'd like to meet her tomorrow? I could arrange it.
What sort of projects do you have in mind?

She calls out his name, focusing on catching his attention and thus not noticing several other people turning their heads at the mention of the word "Snape."]

Bellatrix. I didn't expect you to make the effort to come up here.

[He doesn't tell her about the Order's business; if she finds out, well, he's spying. He can lie about that later. Best not lead into it right now.]
Plus, be educated in what little these folk know of magic -- or, find out about other magical types from other worlds; like Zatanna herself, or so on.

But you never were that cautious. Yours is the zeal. [ Of the fantastic. No matter. He'll cope. He gestures to the place.] What are your plans?

I'm meeting with a DOI agent; she is coming to the convention to meet the actual magic users, assess needs, and so forth. Think of it as the work we did with the ministry.
[The government was the stepping stone to re-making the wizarding world, and if she wants to believe he's attempting the same here, the happier he'll be.]
no subject
And what exactly can this "agent" do for us? How are you sure that she's capable? That you can trust her?
no subject
[He leaves the subject of Draco alone entirely now, instead focusing on Callie.]
The DOI handles imPort integration, money for housing, work, and other items. Those pamphlets that are found, discussing the world's workings -- they do that as well.
Miss Maggotbone seems very capable. As for trust, time will tell.
no subject
As for this DOI business, you have one less witch to worry about. I can take care of myself.
no subject
[He didn't think he'd bring her on easily; just need to plant seeds to keep her mind at ease-- or as much as ease Bella is ever with him -- that he is busy with the Dark Lord's work, always.]
Perhaps I can accompany you today? We can amuse ourselves with ... the display of... [He gestures idly] all this.
