There was nothing quite like a night on the town. The bright lights on the streets so far below, the wind through her hair as she swung between buildings, the sounds of late-night-early-morning traffic , and the ocassional girly screams of would-be muggers having their arms twisted by a chick in a black and purple cape.

Yes, this was the life. One of them, anyway.

[ She's not lucky enough to have heard that sound before, but she can still follow the sound. She can barely make out the shape in the darkness, and it's vaguely familiar. Like Manbat, or... or Brooklyn. But she hasn't seen Brooklyn at all lately, even patrolling around the city proper. She was beginning to suspect he was just gone. ]

Who's there?

[ Even if it is Brooklyn, she doesn't want to give herself away. She sticks to the shadows herself, keeping out of sight. ]

[ Whoops, he wasn't being as sneaky as he thought. He freezes for a second, darts a glance around, and— there, a corner to hide behind. So with one last scrabbling against cracking concrete, Brooklyn darts through a slat of streetlamp light and disappears past an edge, falling still there.

Nothing to see here, whoever that was! Just an overgrown alley cat, using... a building as a scratching post? Most humans get no answer and eventually go on their merry way, though, so he plans to wait it out. ]

[ She never loses sight of him, although his attempt to hide convinces her that he isn't dangerous. At least not at the moment. She grins, mostly because she knows he can't see her. ]

I'm waiting.

[ Oh, come on. He hates when he gets a persistant one. He rolls his eyes, but... well, he's probably better off gaining enough altitude to just leap into the air and vanish. Then whoever this is can wait all they want.

So in a second that crumbling noise comes again as he makes for the roof, a little more quickly than before. Almost there... ]

[ Perhaps he can hear her snicker moments before pulling out her grapnel gun and aiming it at the roof. She bets she can beat him this time. ]

[ Well, he definitely hears something weird, and pauses just long enough to listen to grant a pretty good head start to anyone trying to beat him to the roof. When he doesn't hear it again he keeps moving. He's looking back over his shoulder as he pulls himself up onto the ledge around the roof, searching for any glimpse of whoever it was he'd just evaded down there, and a little puzzled not to be seeing anyone. ]

[ She waits for him at the top, poised to wave, a smug grin on her face. ]

[ Welp, nothing down there... so he turns forward again, and— ]

Aw, jeez!

[ A wall of purple and blonde is pretty much the last thing he'd been expecting! He jerks back, loses his grip, and starts to fall. Not usually much of a big deal when you have wings and are seriously durable, but... for some reason his wings aren't snapping out quite right. And that hand he can see out of the corner of his eye looks a lot... more pale than the usual dark, dusty red. ]

Oh, crap.

[ She was pretty sure that was Brooklyn for a second there, but when she races over the edge all she sees is some guy. There's no time to waste wondering, though. She drops the wire and jumps off the edge at the same time, swinging in an arc to catch him around the middle and come to a sweeping landing a few feet away. ]

Jesus, I didn't mean to scare you that much!

[ Oh, good, something to cling to! He's careful not to dig his claws in, which is... strangely easy, on account of the fact that he doesn't seem to have claws right now? He's too busy staring at his hands, even after they've hit the ground again, to do too much other observing. ]

Huntress?

[ He darts a glance up at her just long enough to confirm that no, despite the purple, that totally isn't Huntress. Then it's right back to his hands that suddenly have an extra finger on each and eight less claws. ]

Uh, sorry, I thought you were... oh, man. [ Cue a slow, spreading grin. ] ...This is great!

Batgirl.

[ But it's not an unreasonable mistake to make when you're falling to your almost-death, she understands. ]

You can, uh, let go of me now.

[ She was so sure it was Brooklyn... this guy isn't even the right size to be the same person she was following. ]

[ Give him a second here, he's worked his way up to his forearms, which are just the craziest human-colored thing ever, and, wait, did she say something? ]

Oh, right, sorry— 

[ He scrambles away— and promptly trips over his own feet to land in an undignified sprawl on his ass, which is about when he actually looks up at her for the first time. So there he sits, a mostly naked hipster dude in a loincloth, blushing. ]

Uh... hi.

[ichoosefight]

Hey-! [ She tries to reach for him when he falls, missing by a mile. Instead she just sighs, running gloved a hand over her face. ]

Hi. You weren't by any chance a lot bigger a minute ago, were you? [ She offers him a hand up, looking very pointedly away from the loincloth. ]

Me? Uh, no!

[ He eyes that hand for a second, nervously, before reaching to take it. And he doesn't let go immediately once he's up, because this... balance thing is sort of tricky.

...And it's about then that he really has to admit to himself that he's definitely not going to pass as always-been-human if he can't even stand up right. So he bites his lip, looks incredibly guilty, and adds: ] I was kind of... more red, though.

Uh huh. I think it was the lack of pants that cinched it for me.

[ She raises her eyebrows, but lets him keep her arm until he gets his legs back under him. ]

You might want to do something about that, actually.

[righteoushog]

[ Oops, embarrassed all over again. He looks down at it, kind of... looking bewildered, because he's never actually owned a proper pair of pants in his life. ]

Yeah, I... guess so, huh? [ And here's where he reluctantly drops her arm, since he's mostly got the balance under control. Both hands go to his face instead, where he's supposed to have a beak. A little muffled: ] Hey, do you have a mirror on you?

Yeah.

[ Once she has her arm back she puts her hands on her hips. With one hand she reaches into her utility belt for a small mirror. It's for looking around corners, not makeup, thankyouverymuch. She hands it over. ]

Here. I can find a spare pair for you, if you don't have any. [ She suspects that if he did, he would be wearing them and not a loincloth. ]

[ Wow, convenient. He takes it carefully (his fingers are shorter without the claws, what if he drops it?) and holds it up, spending a good five seconds looking totally amazed. That is definitely a human face. Complete with some facial hair, bonus! He never managed that as a gargoyle. He's grinning when he hands it back again. ]

I might have to borrow them, yeah. [ And without missing a beat: ] Are there any pizza places still open?

[ichoosefight]

Probably a few. But you'll needs pants. And a shirt. And shoes... [ You know what maybe she should just take him shopping. ]

Just don't go anywhere, okay? I have to raid a few closets.

[ A long zip-up coat and some flip flops should do it, right? ]

[ Whoa wait is his mysterious benefactor leaving? And going to make him wait here?? ]

But, hang on— Kang said he was able to change shape, but couldn't keep it. What if I turn back again? [ What if he misses out on his chance to eat pizza in a pizza parlor like a human?? ] I can get that stuff later, really!

[ She stops and stares at him. Long. And hard. ]

You want to go into a pizza shop... looking like that? Are you familiar with the laws against indecent exposure?

Well, yeah, but...

[ LOOKING A LITTLE BIT CRUSHED, HERE. Sigh, humans and their fear of nudity. It gets in the way of everything! He sighs, rubbing the back of his neck apologetically. ]

I just don't want to miss my chance, I guess.

[ichoosefight]

[ She considers him for another moment, then huffs. ]

I tell you what. If you change before I get back, we'll go anyway. My treat. I'll make sure nobody calls the cops or anything.

But if I'm going I have to go now.

[righteoushog]

[ Go get pizza as a gargoyle? He looks a little unsure, but... well, this is the City, they do have some other non-humans around... so he nods reluctantly. ]

...Yeah, alright. And, thanks— uh, Batgirl.

Don't go anywhere.

[ She flashes him a reassuring grin before grappling her way back up to the roof and across the way to one of the many safe houses. There has to be a long jacket in there somewhere...

She almost gives up before she finds one, in the very very back of the closet. Flip flops are easier, although who even knows if they'll fit him. The point is he won't be naked and they can't kick him out. Maybe he can even buy some clothes in these.

She makes her way back just as fast as she can, hoping he hasn't changed back yet. She doesn't really want to play crowd control in a pizza shop at this time of night. ]
