TURKEY DAY AT THE PIE HOLE II

WHEN: Thanksgiving Day, November 22 8am - November 23 1am (he'lll stick around for any stragglers tho)

SUMMARY: Ned invites the whole City to the Pie Hole. He and Zatanna are cooking and baking everything (there are meat and meatless options), but feel free to bring a favorite from home!

[From the outside, the Pie Hole hasn't changed much, though the window is draped in elaborate snowflake-shaped lights, but inside is a whole other story. Zatanna has made quite a spectacle of the place, a huge banquet hall filled with long and short tables for enjoying your meal with any number of friends. And the decorations are outrageous. Ned's Christmas decorations, which were already over-the-top have all been magically enhanced and Thanksgivingsized like little crystalline pumpkin baubles and overspilling cornucopia on each buffet table, lined up in front of the kitchen. Ned is firmly putting his foot down this year: no one is to enter his kitchen but Zee or himself.

He'll be serving regular pie menu as well as breakfast (frittatas) until twelve noon at which point there will be an hour or two for people to arrive and mingle. The food will be out by 1:30-2 pm and dessert to be served at 3 pm. Ned just wants everyone to have a great day so come in and make yourself at home!! There are a few kegs as well if you all didn't listen and byob...]

[James is just managing to look pretty miserable throughout the entire experience. Granted, he's trying to force a smile onto his features every time Zee glances in his direction, but it's not a great cover up and he doesn't seem that intent of getting into the spirit of eating everything ever. Stupid social events and stupid American holidays.

At least he seems quite intent to stab a slice of turkey to death with a fork. Plus he has a good helping of wine by his elbow.]

[Zatanna is perhaps foremost grateful for James this evening. She knows that it's asking a lot of him to be here. She didn't think it was so much that it was a patriotic holiday that one could twist to their own meaning as it was the amount of people here and having to eat with them, having to pass them food, having to sometimes even (may god forbid!) talk to them.

She slips a hand over his shoulder as she scoots her chair a little closer.]

Don't huff. We'll keep Christmas small and quick and ditch, like we were supposed to last year. Alright? [She'll never let that go. It hurt her feelings. :(]

But whatever, he's just side eyeing her with his grump face and giving a single nod. Just for a second he manages to force a smile that never quite reaches his eyes, before retreating back to his look of displeasure. He really can't wait for this day to be over.]

It's fine, darling. Enjoy yourself. I know I am. [So deadpan. But he does want her to be happy :c]

She flexes her fingers and gives him something like a massage before giving his shoulder a squeeze and returning her arm to her side. As if it makes a point, she bumps her head to the side of his.]

Don't lie. You can leave early, though. I'm going to stay and help clean things up and I'll swing on by later? [She isn't sure if he'll be in the mood.]

Can I eat and go? [He's not sure if there's 'family time' after or anything, and as much as he'd like to just up and leave anyway, it does best to check. Gotta keep the lady happy.]

...you know what? Sure, why not? I don't mind a compromise. Mitch is supposed to show up eventually, so you should say "hello," to him. You know how weird he is about social situations. [It's like she's talking about the smelly, creepy cousin without friends. :')]

[Well, that was too easy...] You sure? I can stay longer if you want. [He doesn't want to just up and go if she has more festivities with the family planned.]

[Ned leans over the table when he sees James, overly jovial. He actually offers a hand to the man for shaking purposes.] Welcome back to the Pie Hole, I'm so glad you came.

[The offered hand is ignored, no surprises, but James is at least friendly enough to offer a vague nod of his head as a greeting. He knows that little cheerful act is just to piss him.] I'm not.

[He drops his hand, relieved. And almost-laughs.] It can't be that bad.

Food's alright. [Which is a compliment coming from James.] Not sure how much longer I can last with the family get together though.

[he lowers his voice a bit, though Zatanna is socializing away from the table for the time being.] I'm sure she appreciates it.

[He grunts his reply, rolling his eyes just slightly.] Nn, I'm sure she does. It's the only reason I'm here.

(Larsa is watching James' every move. Every move.)

[James is just occasionally glaring back, attempting to look vaguely like he's enjoying himself but not really. He does give Zee attention though, like a good boy. See, Larsa, he's accommodating.]

(Larsa looks over at him over his drink, the ever watchful eye never leaving him. Just make one wrong move, one move.)

[Lifting his glass towards Larsa, taking a slow sip as he looks back, and then winking slyly. Hey. Hey Larsa. He's banging yo mum.]

(he needs to devise a plan, a very dastardly one; that means he needs to think as april would. there's a raccoon and there's wine, maybe - just maybe something can come together.)
