tart date and cashew tart ............. fresh cashews, dates, and cranberries honey-glazed.
have your shamrock and eat it too ......... the green cherry or strawberry special (or feel free to ask for both) shaped like a mini shamrock and free of gluten or dairy. made to order.
pumpkin with a twist ................... a surprisingly homey mixture of pumpkin carrot and orange zest in an almond crust
almond creme dream ................... slivered and crushed almonds in a cocoa custard
apple cinnamon ................. because the winter's only just begun
not-so-traditional key lime ................... some like it sweet, but this one's a little sour
even-less-so lemon meringue ............... how did he make this without cream, it's a mystery

Open, likely to turn into a food fight

Calvin is bored, full of sugar, and has uneaten pies in front of him. This is a bad combination. He decided to pay a visit to the Pie Hole after defending its culinary honour to that one new cardfighter guy on the Network, but ended up overeating.

The Pie Hole's menu just has too many great choices to resist, and Calvin ordered quite a few of them, which is why he's sitting there with a full stomach, a bunch of half-eaten pie in front of him, and sinister thoughts brewing in his little mind. The sweets filling him are making him restless, itching for some kind of mischief. This place is so quiet and peaceful right now. Maybe flinging some banana cream at a patron's head would liven things up...

He really probably couldn't have timed it so beautifully if he had tried: just as that glob of banana cream goes flying through the air, Minako comes passing by on her way to clear another table, on an unwitting interception course for Calvin's sticky-sweet projectile. It catches her squarely on the side of the head with a satisfying splat!

"--hey!" she yelps, eyes going wide in surprise, and she turns quickly in the direction that the missile came from. It's not hard to spot the culprit. "What was that for?" She plants a hand on her hip as she says it - although it must be said that she doesn't really look all that angry, exactly.

"Who, me?" Calvin does a very enthusiastic impression of innocence for someone whose hands are currently covered in banana cream. "It wasn't me! It was my evil Skrull twin! He's been trying to ruin my life. He won't stop at- OH NO HE'S RIGHT BEHIND YOU!"

Calvin points with life-or-death emphasis with one hand while the other slowly reaches for a piece of appleberry. Turn around, Minako. Please, please turn around for him.

"Oh~?" Minako does not sound convinced, but she plays along for the moment, lifting her eyebrows at Calvin and somehow managing not to crack a smile. "A Skrull, really? Here? That's not good."

She's pretty sure coming on strict and disapproving isn't going to do any good at all, so... instead, with exaggerated deliberation and no sign of alarm whatsoever, she turns and looks behind her. Calvin can have the freebie.

(Besides, it's the City. The day she smugly refuses to be fooled, there really will be a Skrull behind her.)

Calvin is overjoyed beyond belief. He has decided to start a food fight in a pie shop with what appears to be the single most gullible waitress in the multiverse. He cries out "Agh! Now he's got me! AIIIIEEE!"

No sooner have the words left his mouth than the next pie has left his hand, headed to make the back of Minako's head a match for the side. As soon as the projectile is launched, Calvin dramatically hurls himself from his seat facefirst onto the floor, hopefully doing a good impression of someone just cruelly ambushed by their Skrull imposter. He wants to see just how far he can push this charade.

Ned is so disappoint

While the pie maker could appreciate Calvin's motives, he would've had to have been privy to them first. Being as it were, he was not, and he was not very impressed by his pie being wasted the way it was. Each pie was a little piece of Ned himself, having been touched by his own magic finger. Only once, as those were the rules. Ned knew Calvin wasn't a boy like himself who had always followed the rules set out for him. He wasn't even sure Calvin knew the rules he was breaking, or much cared. He sincerely doubted it. But that only made the matter of dealing with him that much more complicated in his mind. He built it up, wondering how Minako would react. She was decidedly more outspoken than his previous waitress, Shahrazad, and maybe that was a good thing. Ned never had known how to deal with kids.

"...Stop that!" It was weak, but at least he said something... right? Even if he looked more like a deer caught in headlights than a concerned business owner.

Sorry Ned but right now your pies are being touched by Calvin's magic fingers and that kind of magic is all about airborne velocity. And he absolutely does not care about any rules set out for him, even in the Pie Hole (which he does love, all present evidence to the contrary).

"Come and make me!" It's a challenge and it's punctuated by a pumpkin pecan cup-pie headed straight for Ned's kisser.

With a frown, Ned ducks behind the bar and sighs. He never knew how to deal with confrontation. After a few minutes of deliberation, he clears his throat and pokes his head out; cringing at the mess piling up. He's going to have to give Minako a bonus for this he just knows it.

"I don't want to have you removed, but..." Okay, no. No. That was it. He had to stand up for himself and his Pie Hole!!! Well. You know. Ned stomps over to Calvin's booth once more and puts his hands on his hips. He is glaring at you, Calvin. Can you feel it; can you feel his disappointment?

Ned swallows once and pulls the pie out of the boy's hand before he can throw it, shaking his head. "I think you've had enough."

"Hey! Give me that!" Calvin jumps up after the pie with his little arms stretching out, but that doesn't really work because he's kind of a tiny little kid. Realizing that his shenanigans are about to get shut down, he stops hopping and tries to look innocent.

"Aw, come on, Ned! I'm just playing around. Besides, I paid for the pie, so I ought to be able to do whatever I want with it. That's how capitalist democracy works!" Calvin is a true patriot when it comes to the 'instant gratification, no personal responsibility' parts of his country's culture.

Dexter picked up his head out of the newspaper just in time as a cherry bomb (heh) goes whizzing by his ear. What the-? He turns quickly; reflexively to the source and scowls. Children were important to Dexter. He couldn't explain it. They just meant more to him than anyone else. Anyone else meant next to nothing to him, but still. It was only that feeling that kept him from stalking over to the next table and demanding to know where the boy's parents were. Even if they hadn't been hacked up in a storage locker like Dexter's own mother, they probably weren't here. This place seemed frequented by almost entirely imPorts being that it was, imPort owned and run. He sighed, deeply, and gave Calvin a world-weary look.

"Take pity on an old man, won't you?"

Calvin paused in mid-throw, a lump of key lime dripping in his hand. He actually seemed to consider it. There were lots of people to throw things at right now, but here was a chance to make one of them squirm, which was much more fun.

"I'm willing to be convinced," he said with the smugness of the armed confronting the unarmed. "Go ahead, make me an offer! I've got a pastry arsenal at my disposal and nothing to lose! Why should I spare you out of everyone here?"

Oh god and now this kid was reminding him of Cody. That just wasn't fair. Had darling Dexter truly adopted a heart? Or was it mere sense-memory. Either way this kid surely spoke more than his little bear cub.

"Are you trying to procure a bribe from me?" He lifted an eyebrow deliberately, raising part of his newspaper again to speak without being noticed. Whether it was part of the joke or habit, well, you can decide for yourself. "My hair means a lot to me. What's the price for saving it from an ooey-gooey demise?"

"Sorry, but I am a man of deep integrity and principles and can't be bought." It's a credit to Calvin's thespian abilities that he actually says this with an even quasi-straight face. "But I do have an appreciation for the arts!"

Calvin's expression turns outright sadistic. "So sing! Go ahead and sing something for your safety. Maybe if I like it enough, I'll refrain from renovating you with raspberry."

jade harley has never had pie before in her life.

she has heard of pie and seen pie on the television and in movies and her brother has sent her mouthwatering jpegs of delicious looking slices over instant messenger before, but that's nothing like actually getting to eat some for real! her monthly island food delivery budget had never allowed for anything like pie. the money she had was used to bring food to her home and things to keep the survival kits well stocked: pie was out of the question!

and here is an entire menu laid out before her. dedicated to pies, and other things she's never even heard of before. the entire restaurant smells so good she can hardly keep still in her seat. she inhales deeply and stares and - can't help drooling a little. it's a doggy dog world, after all.

"Hi, welcome to the Pie Hole!"

Minako all but bounces over to Jade's table, greeting her with a bright and cheery smile. "Have you decided what you'd like to order?" she asks. "Or do you need a little more time? I can start by getting you something to drink if you're still looking over the menu."

"um," she says, and stares at her menu for a while long, sinking slowly down into her comfortable seat, "i think so? it's so hard to choose! i've never had pie before so i really want the best one, but these all sound like the best one."

she looks up at minako, ears pricked curiously, and slams the menu shut with a snap. "do you have any recommendations?"

Minako takes a moment to consider. "Hm... well, everything I've tried has been great, so really you can't go wrong no matter what you order. But if you've never had pie before, then I think you should start with one of the classics - apple, or banana cream, or maybe lemon meringue. Any of those sound interesting?"

"apple!" she says, then, "no. um. yes, apple. sorry! okay, final choice is apple." she hands back the menu politely, and sits up a little straighter in her chair. "thank you," she says, and props an elbow up on the table, "and do you know if - um, ned is in? i was told that maybe he was looking for other people to hire?'

[ This isn't the first time she's visited the Pie Hole today. No, earlier in the morning this young woman walked in, saw the green, and exited without a word.

Now she's returned with a shopping bag as she approaches the counter with an annoyed look on her face. Without another word, she's turning it over to dump a bunch of decorations.

This time they are all the color red. Clearly the superior color and how dare they decorate otherwise. Unaware of the holiday, she just stands there and waits for someone to accept her gracious donation. ]

[She trails off, cheerful greeting giving way to puzzlement as she gets a load of the red decorations Rin has piled onto the counter.]

...eh? [Such an intelligent and articulate question.]

[ Plopping down herself, she watches her with interest. ]

To replace these awful green ones. Is that a clover?

[The light bulb that goes off inside Minako's head is almost visible in her expression of sudden understanding. Oh.]

Right... because of Saint Patrick's Day. I don't know a lot about it, but it's an Irish holiday originally, so that's the reason for all the green and clovers and things. If you don't like green, I can see how it'd be a bit much.
