[Sally arrives a few minutes after him, also wearing her uniform, and struggling to put her hair into a ponytail while she also holds onto a flashlight. She figures coming with some source of light might be a good idea.]

I was thinking we could try out the entrance closet to here first because it's the one we most likely would ever use in case of an attack...

[And then she sees him clearly. DAMN YOU AND LOOKING HOT IN YOUR UNIFORM GUTHRIE]

[He forgot she thinks he's hawt in his uniform, and just has his serious face on.]

Alright. Where's that one?

[And the face. Oh this could be hard.]

Sewer grate across the street. Shouldn't be too hard to pry open.

Alright. Let's go, then.

[He keeps his goggles in his hair, but doesn't reach for her hand. MISSION MODE.]

Ah'll let you lead the way.

[She nods, shakes off his hotness, and leads them out the back of the Institute and across the street to the grate. She kneels down once there and begins to unscrew it.]

Back when I was with the Morlocks we used to keep a piece of metal with us so we could do this when we really needed to. Most of the time though we just used the more open entrances. Especially me, since the metal always slipped out of my hand.

[He nods. Sarah probably used her bones to get into these types of places, or something else just as fierce. That gal was tough.]

It'll be easy enough to get into, though?

All we've got to do is lift it.

[She does.]

I'll meet you down there.

[Her force field slips on and she jumps into the sewer, landing sort of gracefully on her feet.]

[He turns on his blast field, and lets it outline his body. It's almost similar to hers this way, but he jumps down and lands a little more gracefully than her. He puts his goggles on in order to see in the dark, and then turns his powers back off.]

Alright. Where are we going, Skids?

[She takes her set of his goggles and puts them on, unable to believe she forgot they let her see in the dark. So much for the flashlight.]

I was thinking show you the way to where the Morlocks mostly congregated? If people need to get down here to use it as shelter, it's probably the best place to go.

Sounds good to me. You just keep goin'.

[He looks around.]

Is there anythin' we need to watch out for?

None of our traps are here, so we're lucky in that regard, but there are the occasional drop offs and animals that we might run into.

[She starts leading the way.]

And sometimes disgruntled, crazy homeless people.

Sounds safer than most things we have to deal with.

[He manages a smile this time.]

Ah'll follow you. Just tell me about the place as we go along.

Well, really, who wants to go down into the sewers for fun? Not many people. There's a reason the Morlocks picked this place as their home. Not really going to have to deal with the rest of the world if you don't want to and they really didn't.

[She stops for a moment as the tunnel forks before moving to the left.]

There were a lot of us down here at one point. Kids, adults. We all played our part to keep things going.

[She looks back at him, and shrugs.]

I don't know what you want to know, Sam.

Ah just wanna see it up close, see just how useful it is and how possible it is to get lost. All Ah know about these tunnels are what Sarah told me, and what you've told me. Ah don't wanna get lost down here, if that's what this stuff comes to.

If you don't know your way and you're barreling through here it's really easy to get lost. I did it lots when I first came down here, but luckily Cal usually found me.

[She touches the wall.]

And we used to have markers up too, to remind ourselves which tunnels were impassable and which had traps. None of that is in these ones.

Maybe next time we come down here, we could put similar markers up? So people don't get lost so easily?

I should have thought of that.

[She leads him out of the sewer system and up to an abandoned subway tunnel.]

And well, here you go.

Ah don't even think Ah could imagine what livin' down here was like.

It wasn't horrible or anything. Well.

[She frowns and walks around, picturing where everything would have been.]

I mean it was...it took some getting used to.

Marrow ate rats, and she didn't know how to use spoons.

[He continues on, not even clicking that Sally might have ate rats too.]

And she carved stuff on walls a lot.

Uh.

[She stops walking and glances back at him.]

Well, sometimes it was hard to get food in the winter.

[And then she looks away and walks further away from him too.]

I'm not surprised she didn't know how; we weren't too big on utensils.

[It goes over his head and he follows after her.]

Yeah, she got mad at me for askin'.

I'm not surprised. She was probably embarrassed.

[She eventually stops at a spot against the wall and sits down.]

I used to sleep here. Well, right about here.

[He frowns and approaches her, kneeling down to her level.]

Are you okay?

Yeah, I'm...just thinking back. That's all.

[She forces a smile.]

I guess I didn't really think about how bad it actually was when I was living it, you know?
