[Sam is standing in the main room of the mansion, dressed in his uniform with his goggles put up in his hair. He's waiting for Sally to arrive so they can leave.]

[He frowns and approaches her, kneeling down to her level.]

Are you okay?

Yeah, I'm...just thinking back. That's all.

[She forces a smile.]

I guess I didn't really think about how bad it actually was when I was living it, you know?

[He sits down beside her, and completely strips away his leadership role to slip his arm around her shoulders. He's boyfriend now.]

You never do.

[She leans against him, grateful.]

Guess not. But it wasn't horrible. I'm pretty sure living down here saved my life more than once. And it was better than trying to live on the streets.

Ah hafta agree with that. It's a roof over your head, strangely, and y'all did take care of each other best you could.

We really did. I don't know where I'd be now if they hadn't taken me in.

[She smiles a little at that.]

And then they were just gone.

[He just holds onto her, not saying anything more.]

[She hugs him tightly.]

There were some good things that happened to me down here.

Well, I made friends, like Cal and Leech. I brought fairy tales to the little kids. And I got my first kiss down here.

[She grins at the memory.]

That was nice.

You'll always remember it, then. It's all special.

[Smile.]

I'd just figured out how to let down my shield too, so yeah, definitely special.

[She rests her head on his shoulder, still smiling.]

Though, I was ready to kick Masque's butt. He was always a thorn in my side.

Ah think he was the one who gave Callisto tentacles.

[She pulls back and just stares.]

Well, Ah dunno if she has 'em anymore? Ah haven't seen her in awhile.

[SIGHS]

About Callisto's tentacles? They were real weird.

Well, they were tentacles. I don't see how they couldn't be weird! Did Masque screw with anyone else? He was always molding people grotesquely. Never worked on me though.

It was Storm's mission. Ah don't really know too many details.

[SHRUG]

[She leans back against him.]

Ah could tell you about all kinds of ridiculous, if you want.

Ahh mah gawd, okay! Sally, he's this green shape shiftin' alien who seriously stalks the X-men. Ah swear he does!

He and 'Locke got into a shape shiftin' fight before and we had to find them, and then once X-force was on vacation and he kept buggin' us, then most of us got eaten by a sea monster, but it puked us back up.
