SUMMARY: Trying to stop thinking so much, Momiji starts wondering around the City.

Momiji had been spending his first few days in the City trying to wrap his mind around the concept of being stuck in this new reality. It hadn’t been going well. Thinking about it left him depressed and filled with questions about the future. The silence that filled his apartment wasn’t helping. Momiji had never really been alone. Sure, the houses on Sohma estate were usually quiet, but there had still been the background hum of human life. To keep himself from dwelling on his situation, Momiji had been busy acquiring a new wardrobe and decorating his room.

But there was only so much time he could dedicate to deciding between shades of pink and by Friday, Momiji running out of things to do. Determined not to spend his weekend worrying over something he couldn’t change, he rose early and with a game plan. He was going to explore the City and get familiar with the place he’d be calling home from now on. Mentally pumping himself, Momiji pulled on a sweater and strode out the door.

Bakura nodded with a grin. "And then suddenly it's the middle of the night and you've forgotten to get to bed on time," he continued. Oh, the nights where he looked up to see it was 3am and there he was hovered over his TRPG... He got very good at surviving school on very little sleep!

"Un! I like them!" Really, he also liked fighting games, he was just no good at them.

Momiji had to agree. "Eh, I hate that." Momiji rather liked his sleep and wasn't that happy to lose any. But keeping yourself pumped full of candy on a daily basis meant for some late nights.

"'Kay. Why don't we play this one?" He hopped over to a Daytona USA game. His pulled a few coins from a pocket and slipped them in, settling onto one of the seats.

"Sure!"

Bakura sees what you did they Momiji. The politeness war of paying for each others games is so on~

He slid into the next seat with a grin, flexing his hand before taking the wheel. "Ready!"

Momiji would not allow someone else to win in the war of manners. His grin grew larger as he selected a car and the on screen countdown began. He tensed slightly, pushing hard on the pedal. "Alright! Let's see who'll win this one."

But which was more polite, winning the manners war or letting the other party win it? Maybe this was why he never won those wars.

"You're on!" Bakura laughed, zooming out as well. He had gotten much better at racing games since being in the City, though he still played them safe, not wanting to wreck his imaginary ride. But between the motorcycle rides and his scooter, he was far more confident. Though Momiji did have a fair chance!

It was truly a for the ages.

Momiji lacked any such notion of playing it safe and wrecked within the first few seconds. However, he found this hilarious and just giggled while his car was righted on screen. It was a safe bet to say that Momiji was not a gamer by any means. He kept going, full speed to catch up to Bakura. "Come on, faster!"

Bakura would have covered his laugh if his hands hadn't been otherwise occupied with the game. "Careful or you won't have a car left to finish the course!" he teased, carefully passing another car. 4th place and gaining!

"Haha, my driving skills are very good. Poor car." Momiji narrowly missed another wreck as he talked, swerving quickly to the right. Hey, fifth place wasn't bad, he was almost caught up to Bakura.

"A good thing you aren't driving a real one, ne?" Bakura teased, slowing down to take a turn.

"Yeah. I don't think I should ever drive for real." Momiji agreed, taking the curve sharply.

Bakura's car skittered a little as Momiji's zoomed on by. "Aaaaa!" he exclaimed, pressing down on the petal to try and catch up again. "It's different, driving in a game," he pointed out, trying to speed up yet still be careful. Aaaa, he was going to have to be a bit more reckless, wasn't he?

"Oh, hey I passed you!" Momiji said, laughing excitedly. "I guess so. People on the streets don't drive this crazy." Bakura was definitely going to have to drive more insane to keep up with Momiji's reckless style. Though he if wrecked much more that would be a problem.

"Aaa, you did, you did!" Bakura laughed. "And they don't, not even here, thankfully!" he grinned. One more NPC car to pass and he was in 2nd place to Momiji's 1st. Now if he could just catch up...!

"I might actually win." Momiji exclaimed, almost bouncing in his seat. "If people drove like I do, there would be a lot more wrecks." As he said that he looked away from the screen and crashed into a wall. He groaned. "Like that!"

Bakura's laugh was cut short as Momiji's car collided with his own on the rebound from the wall, sending him into a tailspin of his own. "Aa! No good, no good!" he exclaimed, spinning the wheel to try and get control again as an NPC car zipped by. Thankfully he was soon back on the road. Now to recover the loss!

"Eeeh. Sorry, sorry." Momiji waited impatiently for his car to be put back on the track. When it did he floored it and chased after the other cars. Not much chance of winning now.

"Don't worry, don't worry!" Bakura assured with a smile. After all, it wasn't as if Momiji could control where his car spun out!

Momiji nodded, focused again on the course. Just a little more time left in the race, he'd have to really book it to catch up.

With Bakura focusing on a safe finish now that he'd passed the last NPC again, there was a good chance Momiji could catch him unawares and steal the victory! But it would have to be quick, the last lap was half over!

Momiji used this chance to speed up and tail closely behind Bakura. Waiting for the opportunity, he cut closely around the last curve to get ahead. The finish was in sight and Momiji was finally back in the lead.

"Aaaa!" Bakura exclaimed with a laugh. "Sneaky, sneaky!"

If he could just---

But he wasn't fast enough as Momiji's car passed the line first.

He laughed again, applauding lightly. "Good game!"

Momiji let out a shout of triumph, practically jumping up from his seat. "You too, Bakura-kun! It was just luck that let me win." Even so, he was beaming and obviously proud of himself.

"It was more than just luck! You did really well!" Bakura insisted, almost laughing again at Momiji's glee as he stood up.

"Mmhm. Thanks. You did well too." Momiji said, rocking from his sudden flow of energy. He gestured around the room. "Anything you want to do?"

"More games!" Bakura cheered.

He could spend hours in an arcade, really. Even if it was bad on his wallet!
