[It was Tom's first couple weeks running the bar, and, surprisingly, it had gone pretty well so far. The transition itself was a bit of a challenge, but once he'd become accustomed to it, it really wasn't so bad at all. In fact, he found himself even enjoying the work, even if it meant extra hours for the time being, since the promotion and port-outs lately meant that they were running a bit understaffed.

That wasn't why he was pulling other duties besides just managing the place, though. Working behind the bard was one of the best jobs he had, and he really enjoyed it. He got to talk to people at the bar (and occasionally have a drink or two himself). It was the social aspect that he liked, which was why, to maybe draw in a few new regular customers, he was offering free drinks for the week.]

[she dips her head at the compliment and smiles] You haven't seen me in any dress since prom have you?

[He makes a note of that shyness. It makes him want to smile again, which he covers by taking a drink.]

No. [He shakes his head, and genuinely can't keep the smile away this time. That night...it was a good night. Okay, some might say it was screwed up, which it kind of was, but that definitely didn't overrule the good memories for him.] You don't wear 'em too often. Free drinks aside, what've you been doing?

I've been looking for a job [she says cheerfully] I'd like to be able to afford somewhere a little nicer than the MAC

[hellionated]

You want to move out? [Let's just...pretend like that doesn't bother him.] I, uh, didn't know. Where do you wanna work?

[wind_dancer]

Well, [she says casually leaning forward a little] there are some good two bedroom apartments around....

[hellionated]

[That...actually takes him by surprise. He tries to be casual.]

Yeah, I guess there are. It's New York, might uh...get a better place if you were sharing.

[wind_dancer]

There definitely is. I mean you don't have to share... [she's worried she's pushing him] it's just an idea

[ He's amazed she wants to :| ]

[ Oh good, awkward. Where did that come from? ]

[she smiles warmly to stop him stumbling over his own words]

Does this mean you're going to get a job?

[ Waitwhat. His head snaps back up. ]

Wait. What?

[now she is looking amused] that's a no then.

So that will be my wages and whatever you're currently living on

[ ...nope, still on the 'waitwhat' here. ]

You have a job? ...Here. Already?

I've got an interview for one as a waitress.

[she looks at him] I got used to having to look after myself Julian, I didn't have anyone paying for things for me when I was in New York. It felt normal to look for a job quickly.

[hellionated]

[ He's quiet for a minute.

...A long minute. ]

[ ..........Yeah.]

[ Then he nods, as if this decides everything. ]

Okay. Then I'll look for a job.

[ DId he actually just agree to that, God. ]

[she smiles and then laughs] sorry it's just your expression. It's like work is a bad word

It is! I don't even know what I'd do.

You could model, or teach sports?

[ That takes him by complete surprise. He blinks, and then grins. ]

[ No, no you aren’t. You’re just making him smile and lean in towards you so he can see those blushing cheeks better.

[yes very sure, this isn't helping changing her mind. She smiles and raises a playful eyebrow] You, embarrassed

[ With an air of great innocence ] Yeah, cause I'm so shy and retiring.

[ Pretending to look affronted but he can’t help smiling. ] I am! Beautiful, it’s like you don’t believe me.
