[ John sits on a bench outside one of the shops, kicking his legs back and forth, kind of happy that after half a year of being wasted time in the City his feet at least now scrape the floor when he does things like this. He's glancing around at the crowd nervously, wondering what he's actually doing here in the first place, and looking over at Dave every so often as though expecting some kind of cue. ]

[ the point of this very prestigious exercise is so dave can show off what a total stud he is. girls always flock to cool guys, and he's the coolest guy he knows. it can't be that hard to get some random chick's number.

except if john keeps acting like some nervous puppy and scaring them all away. that's the only possible reason why nobody has approached them yet. ]

[ kanaya is in the mall for reasons. she doesn't go to malls very often because there are better clothing shops elsewhere in the city, but she's there today. maybe for market research for the magazine. yes that's the excuse she'll use.

because she's actually for birthday gift ideas, which she had in mind to discuss with her fellow party palhoncho john once she saw him, but whoops there's dave. guess she might as well say hi either way. ]

[ A little ways down the way is another young man, thirteen years of age. He has RIDICULOUS HAIR and a DISREGARD FOR PATHWAYS. Rather than, like a normal person, walking around the giant middle-of-the-line planter box, he does a forward flipping cartwheel -- a hand pushing against the ground and landing on his feet on the rim. He continues walking on the planter. ]

[ He does not appear to be showing off. Instead, he looks mildly annoyed. Where the heck are home appliances? ]
