The guests into an auditorium transformed. Through the magic of papier mache, the room has been decked out like a speakeasy, the refreshments laid out on a very makeshift bar that will not stock alcohol as long as they can prevent it. The whole room is cast with a cool blue light, and a jazz band's been hired to take the stage for an hour before leaving the rest of the evening to the DJ.

It was time to get this party started.

[Nill had definitely not expected to hear her name called. So when she hears it, the blonde takes a moment to really register what's happened. But, grinning, she leaves Damian's side with a quick squeeze of his hand and straightens her headband as she walks up the stairs to accept her tiara.

And she watches Alex approach, not actually sure who he is. Did he even go to the Institute?]

[ Alex knew something like this would happen, the perks of having precognition, but it still left him mildly surprised. None of these students knew him and yet he still won.

Eager was far from what he was when approaching Nill and Kurt at the front. It took prodding from Kate to get him moving and now that he was, thought of just leaving crossed his mind.

But he didn't. He got to the front, looking expressionless as ever, maybe even slightly annoyed. He couldn't understand the point of having a King and Queen for prom, even if he did fit the role. ]

[ Jess only briefly glances up when the prom king is called, squinting her eyes for a moment.

wait a second.... ]

He doesn't even go here!

[ before ducking her head and looking away, disappearing out of this thread.

[Meanwhile Kate is cheering the loudest of everybody, whoops and hollers interrupted but a truly trollish cackle.]

Dance with her, Alex! Dance with the queen!

[Because she guesses it's expected of her, she reaches for Alex's hand. But her arm stops when she hears Dance with her, Alex! Nill wasn't much of a dancer, even if Danny had shown her a few steps. She looked to Angelica, wondering if this was something they were supposed to do.]

[ If looks could kill, Kate would probably be dead right now. Instead, they can only instill fear, which is something he isn't planning on doing to a room full of people. ]

[Kate just smiles at him, waving as she does. She's not scared of you, Alex. She knows she's safe from his wrath for the time being.]

Dance! Dance!

[Vic's just sort of passing by when he spots Kate. And then he sees everything else going on.

Of course he's going to want to know what's up.]

Hey, what's going on?

Alex just got crowned prom king but he's refusing to dance with Nill.

[She twirls her fake mustache, looking very disappointed.]

[Oh man. That is very disappointing.]

Yeah? Why not? Pretty rude not to dance with a lady.

[conflagrations]

Who's not dancing with Nill?

[ EMERGING FROM THE CROWD TO JUDGE. ]

Alex! He refuses to dance with her!

[TOTALLY HELPING, RIGHT?]

What kind of king doesn't dance with his queen, anyway? Maybe we should help 'em out.

[ Careful not to disturb the plumes of her headband, Kurt crowns Nill first with a small smile before moving on to Alex.

Who... He doesn't know at all. Hm. But, my! He's a grumpy-looking fellow, isn't he? Anyway, he merrily pops the crown onto his head. ]

Congratulations to the both of you.

[She nods to Kurt, thanking him for the tiara. It was very pretty, she had seen it on the stage during the prom. She had never imagined that it would be on her head, though. The blonde turned to Alex again, not sure what to do now. But maybe he had an idea.]
