The guests into an auditorium transformed. Through the magic of papier mache, the room has been decked out like a speakeasy, the refreshments laid out on a very makeshift bar that will not stock alcohol as long as they can prevent it. The whole room is cast with a cool blue light, and a jazz band's been hired to take the stage for an hour before leaving the rest of the evening to the DJ.

It was time to get this party started.

Even though she wasn't sure what to expect, Aradia is enjoying herself. She's taking a break by the canapes after spending a little while dancing, eyes peeled for anyone she knows that she can drag into having fun.

Damian has been stalking the refreshments all night when he hasn't been with Nill. He's got his nose in the air and there is nothing about his expression that isn't judging everyone else. Including you, sorry Aradia.

[ oh hey it's aradia. johnny sidles up to her, holding his glass of punch and a plate loaded down with food. ]

What's up, Aradia? You look nice.

[Angelica is on refreshment guard duty, sipping from a glass of (non-alcoholic!) punch as she watches the kids boogie down.]

[ Don't mind him, he's just casually sidling around behind her to improve the punch with the rum he has waiting in the flask in his pocket.

It's for the good of the evening, Angelica, he swears. ]

Luckily for everyone involved, Julian came prepared for just such a dilemma, and is standing in front of the bowl while his powers oh-so-subtly open and tip the contents of a flask in here. Totally smooth. You can all thank him later. ]

[Rachel's been wandering, looking around at all the students and keeping to herself. deciding she needs a drink she starts to head to the refreshment table only to see a number of the students already hanging around.

Suspicious, Rachel decides to investigate.]

[Oh hey there Julian. Like her dress? She sidles up behind him and tip-toes to look over his shoulder.]

What're you doing, and why aren't I a part of it?

[Sofia comes across and catches him in the act. She's determined to enjoy the last prom and the raised eyebrow she gives him is amused.]

Are you sure no one beat you to it?

[Julian, there is a reason you're his best friend here, and this is obviously it.]

Subtle as ever, Jules, but I think we all owe you a debt for the public service.

[ Alex had a difficult time wrapping his head around his willingness to attend prom with Kate. They were dressed loudly in purple tuxedos with hats and fake mustaches. Kate had a monocle and he had a cane. He's certain his father somewhere is rolling somewhere in Hades.

Right now, he is standing in front of the table with the bowl of punch staring down at it unimpressed. ]

[Kate is feeling pretty awesome in her tuxedo. If anyone can pull off the look, it's her. She's just emerged from the bathroom, readjusting her mustache as she rejoins her date.]

[ kanaya has to stop herself a moment to have a good look at their outfits. she couldn't argue with the color, that seemed pretty decent. it was mostly the mustaches that threw her.

she's on her second cup of punch and that isn't giving her thoughts any better clarity, so she ends up blinking at them as she tries to make sense of the sight. ]

I was under the impression that facial follicles tend to grow in ways that wouldn't wouldn't typically develop so fully on anyone so young.

_{( Damian, who has done his television-research about prom, is glad he isn't the only one under the age of fourteen to be dragged to this one. He can't say much for Aaron's fashion choices, however. )}

[ Never let it be said that chaperone duty doesn't come with a few perks of its own. Dick has the run of this end of the snack table, and for now he's pretty content to chill by the sidelines, working on a second cupcake and eying the kids from a fairly safe, hopefully unobtrusive distance. How far away high school seems now. ]

[Charlie popped up suddenly next to Dick, in her purple flapper dress, a grin on face.]

So are you a copper tonight? Gonna throw us in the clink if we misbehave?

OPEN!

[Charlie had been dancing earlier but now she was taking a break, standing by the drinks table in her flapper dress, twirling her sash around her arm as she sipped some punch and watched the prom. She hadn't been all that excited about the dance, but it was fun so far!]

[After dancing for quite a time, Rikku made her way off the dance floor, shoes swinging by the straps from one of her hands. She was grinning widely, her cheeks were flushed a bit, and she looked completely ecstatic.]

[Nill wasn't quite anxious. She was just very excited, and not sure how to handle it. This was the first prom that she actually understood: the dancing, the gossip, the way you looked all mattered. Nill wasn't much of a dancer, couldn't participate very well in the gossip. But she thought she had dressed well enough. She hadn't yet gone dancing, instead heading to the refreshment table to see if there was anything to nibble on.]

[He's supposed to be chaperoning, but Hank finds himself eyeing the snacks instead, helping himself to a slice of pie or two. It doesn't take much to satisfy him.]
