A Night in West Egg

The guests into an auditorium transformed. Through the magic of papier mache, the room has been decked out like a speakeasy, the refreshments laid out on a very makeshift bar that will not stock alcohol as long as they can prevent it. The whole room is cast with a cool blue light, and a jazz band's been hired to take the stage for an hour before leaving the rest of the evening to the DJ.

It was time to get this party started.

Yeah. I haven't been there in a while back home, so it might not be how I remember it, but the Institute has always been for mutants.

I've been told by a couple of mutants here about the discrimination they put up with in your world.

[ Which is really odd to Kate, because aren't a lot of the Avengers superpowered humans and non-humans, as well? ]

I don't know if words could ever really convey how horrible it is.

[ She falters, looking apologetic. ]

[ She understands now it's definitely a mood dampener on a nice night like this. ]

[ she shakes her head and gives kate a small smile. ]

It's alright. It's one of those things that's hard to understand unless you've seen it firsthand.

It's nice to see the kids having fun, instead of having to worry about those things.

It is. It's nice to see them all be kids for a night.

It sounds naive, but kids should just be kids.

I don't think that's naive, I think that's the ideal. In a perfect world, kids can always be kids.
