James prides himself on managing to get a date out of almost any scenario, so getting Selina over for dinner just because of an original talk of grenades is a win in his books. Even if they are just doing the 'friend' thing, which he can't say he's too worried about.

He's managed to be alone in his apartment for the evening, spending the last hour or so cleaning himself up and changing into smart casual attire, because even at home James likes to be well presented to the ladies.

And so when Selina arrives, he's ready to buzz her and open his door invitingly.

Picking up her glass, Selina makes a bit of a face at him. But she doesn't say anything. He's digging himself into a big enough hole without her asking any more questions.

And the "Why?" is obvious enough anyway.

Yeah, well, with great maturity he's just going to ignore the questioning stare.

"You can keep that toy. I'm sure she'd be more than happy if she knew 'Catwoman' had it."

"I'm a little above stealing a child's toy, James." She sets it down on the next seat over. "Do you need anything?" she asks in a slightly different tone. She suspects he doesn't exactly have what it takes to care for a kid readily on hand.

"... No. I'm not looking after her. I'm only used if she needs to reach something above a few feet. Or if she needs weaponry advice. That's it." Which is exactly why James doesn't mind the kid staying, because she's perfectly capable of looking after herself.

"Ah." Selina drinks a bit more wine while she mulls that over. James seems to have raced ahead of her on beverage consumption. "Sounds like she'd get along pretty well with the latest Robin."

James does like his alcohol, especially if it helps distract him from subjects like these. "Don't think I know him."

"Raised by assassins. Kind of a brat." She drains her glass. "You were planning to cook, if I'm not mistaken."

"I was trying to avoid it, if I'm honest," he admits with a small smile, reaching for the wine bottle and moving to top her up again. "Chinese is only a call away."

There's a mock pout coming on. "You promised." There, doesn't he feel bad now?

Not really. But maybe slightly considering this, "I didn't promise. Nevertheless, if you're adamant, I suppose I could cook up something."

"Fine. You offered. Either way, I'm interested to see what you can manage." She smiles as she swipes the wine bottle for a refill.

"I have a talent for it," he states as he lets her steal the wine and moves to his feet to head towards the open plan kitchen. Granted the only reason he ever has cooked well is to woo potential ladies, but that's reason enough. "Salmon alright?"

So does Selina, or she's been trained at the very least. Still, it's rare that she cooks. The last time was Thanksgiving and she doesn't really want to think about that...

"Salmon's fine." People always assume she likes fish because of the cat thing, but salmon is doable.

Thank God Bond's never had to worry about Thanksgiving. The only family holiday he has to avoid is Christmas and he tends to forget it quite successfully.

"Good, because it's all I've got," he replies, doing whatever kitcheny prep work needs doing. He's mostly forgotten the whole cat and fish reference, he just likes salmon because it's easy.

Sitting around while he does the work is tempting, but considering he's covering dinner and grenades, and she wheedled the information about the girl out of him...

Glass in hand, she heads into the kitchen. "Need a hand?"

Prepping doesn't take long anyway, a few vegetables and whatever else, but he's glancing up at Selina between some fast slicing. "Actually, yes. Your hand. Down there." His eyes flick down to Bond Jnr for just a second before his attention is back on the veg. But he's smirking to show he's joking. Mostly.

Selina rolls her eyes, but doesn't leave the kitchen, instead leaning against the counter and sipping from her glass. Surprisingly, he seems to know what he's doing.

A man like him doesn't grown up alone without learning to be at least mildly self-sufficient when it comes to feeding himself. His cooking may not be top quality, but he knows what he likes. It's only a few minutes more before he's slinging the dressed salmon into the over to bake and leaving everything else for now. "Right. How about another episode of Sex and the City?"

"No, thank you." It's hard to repress a shudder at the thought of sitting through another hour of that drivel. But she manages. "Can't say I'm a fan."

"Glad to hear I've put you off that for life," he smirks in return, heading for the fridge and retrieving a beer, holding one out briefly towards Selina in offer. "Thankfully I haven't had to watch it since that last time either."

Selina drains her wineglass and accepts her beer. "You were the one who brought it up in the first place," she reminds him as she twists off the cap.

James breaks the top off on the edge of the kitchen marble counter before hopping up to sit on it. "Just a little joke, worry not. So, what have you been up to since then anyway, my dear?"

Selina pulls herself up on the counter as well. No point in looking up at him. "Mm, the usual." She took a sip of beer. Not her usual drink, most of the time. But not bad.

Bond buys the good stuff, obviously, even if he doesn't drink beer as often as some of his other choices. He drinks his from the bottle, several large swigs taken before he drinks, eyes locked on Selina. "The usual being?"

She shrugs a bit, taking another swallow. "Keeping an eye on things. Getting used to having a daughter." She smirks a bit. "Spending time with the boyfriend."
