[Food is courtesy of anyone who's brought pot-luck dishes -- Sanji, to say the least -- and there's a good amount of fizzy punch to go around, both alcoholic and non. Kids trying to sneak a sip of the stronger stuff will find it loses its bite when they take a sip, however.]

[All the girls have helped with the decorating, and the house is literally aglow with bobbing candles and glittery spheres.]

[There's also some mystery dishes by Luna -- one of which Andromeda is sampling cautiously.]

So glad you asked, sir! The plan was to have Dirgible Plum Soup, but then I realized, that plant wasn't exactly easy to come by in this world.

So I experimented with substitutes. That last one contains tomatoes, since I figured a fruit of some kind should do, and the other two contain plums and-- oh, right. The first has prunes. Someone told me they were an acceptable substitute for "regular" plums.

So glad you make it. These are my soups. The recipe originally called for Dirigible Plums, but I changed it a bit for this world: tomato soup, plum soup and... prune soup. Would you like to try them?

[ Cooking is not one of Kurt's more developed talents, but he's functional enough to have brought cabbage rolls. He's arrived on the invitation of Tonks and, wandering out of his usual social circle, is making a point of being presentably friendly.

[Gemma had brought some bread, just as she'd promised. She quickly went to set it in the kitchen, and then made her way to the main room. She had dressed up a bit for the occasion, but still felt just a bit out of place. Though she could use magic like the people from Andromeda's world, she knew that their community was tight-knit, and that she could never really be a part of it. But somehow, that was alright; she at least knew that they could at least celebrate a holiday together, as equals.]

[Bring up the arrival of her errant boyfriend from home at your own risk. She seems in decent enough spirits, but let's just say the holiday cheer has been somewhat diluted by stress. December was a very difficult month on all fronts.]

[HOLD THE PHONE; Snape came out of hiding for this. He brought food, even. Kitchen wizardry is nothing Snape would boast of, but the roasted root vegetables -- turnips, parsnips, butternut squash, carrots, tempered with perfectly tender wedges of red onions -- are really good.

Yet, no magic was involved.

[Jack was forever getting on Ianto's case about eating his vegetables. Jack wasn't here, despite Ianto leaving him a message, but Ianto did occasionally make an effort. He was deeply surprised to find himself going for seconds, and was fortunate enough to catch Severus.]

[Ianto brought his specialty -- coffee. The best damn coffee ever. He's carried in a whole container with a little spout at the bottom, and a small tower of insulated, disposable cups. Sugar and cream are set to the side. Drink up, folks.]

[ Seriously? This is the best coffee that Tonks has ever tasted. Granted, she takes a lot of sugar and cream in her coffee but still, it's a bloody brilliant cup. ]
