The guests into an auditorium transformed. Through the magic of papier mache, the room has been decked out like a speakeasy, the refreshments laid out on a very makeshift bar that will not stock alcohol as long as they can prevent it. The whole room is cast with a cool blue light, and a jazz band's been hired to take the stage for an hour before leaving the rest of the evening to the DJ.

It was time to get this party started.

[Goddamn it, can she have five seconds to relax without an asshole staring a hole through her. She flicks her eyes over to where Kanaya is, leveling her with an unimpressed stare.

You know what, she'll bite. She pushes off the wall, stooping down to pick up her shoes and sashaying across the floor, weaving in and out of people dancing.]

[ seeing her approach, kanaya stood up a little straighter and checked herself over in her compact. hair's set, makeup looks good, she adjusts the top of her dress and makes sure these stupid pads in her bra make her look amazing.

[Oh, checking yourself over for her? Maybe she should be flattered. She flicks her bangs out of her eyes.]

They were too bulky together. And that has nothing to do with the dress anyway.

The dress is but a component of the overall outfit. Of course, nothing can be done on my part to prevent your predilections from being so tacky as to believe they may have succeeded in a grouping, but being made to expend the effort in forging them doe inspire some degree of expectation that they would at least be put to use.

[Her lips turn down into a frown. Her patience, which isn't very good to begin with, is beginning to wear very thin with this conversation.]

I was going to wear them, I already told you they looked like shit together, which is why I didn't.

And if I had? You'd be nagging my ass about how I made your outfit look tacky with my poor fashion taste because you're the expert on that apparently. Either way you'd be fussing at me for something, so I went with the option I liked better.

You can have the jewelry back if it's such a big deal.

I'd already told you they wouldn't operate well in tandem, but no, you had to be greedy.

And what exactly would I do with them if I did take them back? I've already made them, there's no unmaking them. You might as well keep them.

[ she mutters to herself how she wishes she'd made them pokier on the inside so that they'd be that much more uncomfortable ]

Those comments were not directed toward you, they don't qualify for this consideration. Nor were they regarding your eventual usage of such an accessory.
