[Well that was embarrassing! Kenzi had, for a moment, forgot where she was and thought she was calling Bo. Instead she got Gil, talk about rude wake up to reality. She hung up quickly because she didn't want to explain she called because she thought she was calling Bo. God, she missed her best friend. Admitting it to people just made it hurt more.

At least that's over now, right? She won't have to explain anything.

She flops down on the couch with some chips and starts flipping through the channels. She just wants to find something boring to watch and fall asleep now.]

[Kenzi shrugs and takes a drink of water.] I can sleep when I'm dead.

Lack of sleep might do that. [ He looks at the time stamp on his communicator briefly. ] Are you hungry?

Naw.

Now that you mention it yeah, kinda hungry. [She leans back in her chair as the fridge door pops open on it's own. Only she can't see much of anything in the fridge from her chair so she just shuts the door again.]

[ If that was her power just now, his hand twitches instantly. ]

I made some soup. [ He jabs his thumb in the direction of the stove where a pot rests. ] All I could make was chicken soup with what was in the home, but it should help.

[Kenzi's gaze travels the the pot on the stove. She stares at it for a moment before moving to rise and get herself some.]

You didn't have to make something.

You said you didn't know how to cook, right? Besides, soup can help with the uh, hangover. [ That's what they call it, right? ] There's a recipe for pho that helps, but I don't know how to make that.

Well...yeah. [But she has leftovers.

She soon returns with a bowl of soup and takes up a spoonful.]

Never tried soup to cure a hangover before.

You drank a lot of vodka... it's important to hydrate yourself now.

I didn't drink that much. [Slurping down that spoonful. Such wonderful manners this one has.]

Vodka is a heavy drink isn't it-- hey! Don't slurp your soup!

I said I can drink it like water. I meant that.

[She's sure to make the slurping sound even louder on her next spoonful.] Y'know in some countries it's rude not to slurp.

[ He leans away, making a face. ]

Don't make things up!

It's true! Look it up. [Okay she's done bugging him with the slurping and tries to slurp her soup less.]

I take it you're feeling better? [ But he asks with a certain hesitation. That had been... an emotionally charged conversation. ]

[She stops with her spoon halfway back to the bowl.] Yeah, I guess. I mean...as much so as I'm going to be.

[ He avoids her gaze quickly, conscious again of his neck and he "subtly" tries to adjust his collar to hide it. ]

I mean it... what I said before; you're a lot stronger than you know. Adapting here isn't easy for everyone, but you've been able to.

[She silent for a few moments. Don't think she didn't see him adjust his collar. She's still curious of the origin of the scar but he definitely doesn't seem keen on talking about it.]

Adapting is what I do. If I don't I'm dead. [Another spoonful of soup.]

Then you keep adapting. [ For however long it takes. If it keeps her going, then it's good enough, yes? ]

[She's only adapting because she has no other choice but death. It's how it's always been for her. Back when she lived on the streets she had to adapt to a new situation nearly every day just to get by. And then falling into Bo's world meant adapting again. And then coming here meant she had to adapt yet again. It comes naturally to her because she has such a high survival instinct (most of the time).]

Yeah.

Is the soup alright? [ He finishes buttoning up the collar and deflects with a different subject. ]

Yeah. Thanks. [She's actually about done with the bowl.]

[She shakes her head as she drifts the bowl over to the sink.]

Naw, I'm good now. [This coming from the girl that can finish off a whole pizza on her own.]

Ah, that's right... your roommate hasn't come back. [ He has to wonder now where he is. ] Does he spend the evenings out?

[Or he's locked up in his room.

Kenzi shrugs.]

I haven't seen him around too much lately. [She catches glimpses of him every so often so she knows he hasn't been sent home.] I think sometimes he does.
