SUMMARY: Trying to stop thinking so much, Momiji starts wondering around the City.

Momiji had been spending his first few days in the City trying to wrap his mind around the concept of being stuck in this new reality. It hadn’t been going well. Thinking about it left him depressed and filled with questions about the future. The silence that filled his apartment wasn’t helping. Momiji had never really been alone. Sure, the houses on Sohma estate were usually quiet, but there had still been the background hum of human life. To keep himself from dwelling on his situation, Momiji had been busy acquiring a new wardrobe and decorating his room.

But there was only so much time he could dedicate to deciding between shades of pink and by Friday, Momiji running out of things to do. Determined not to spend his weekend worrying over something he couldn’t change, he rose early and with a game plan. He was going to explore the City and get familiar with the place he’d be calling home from now on. Mentally pumping himself, Momiji pulled on a sweater and strode out the door.

"A good idea!" Bakura grinned. "Find any good places?"

"I found some stuff for my apartment and some clothes." He laughed. "But that was earlier. I haven't found anything fun yet."

Bakura nodded. Both were very useful things! "What sort of fun things are you looking for? There's a neat arcade not too far from here, and then there's Kaiba Land if you don't mind going a bit farther!"

"I was looking for anything to do." Anything that got him away from his apartment and around people sounded swell to him. "What's Kaiba Land? An amusement park?"

"Un! An indoor one that someone from my world built! It has all sorts of games in it, as well as rides and almost anything you can imagine would fit in a skyscraper!"

There was a bit of an proud note to Bakura's grin. Not because of Kaiba, far from it! But from a certain part of Kaiba Land he had a big hand in.

"That sounds like lots of fun! An indoor amusement park." Momiji thinks on that, grinning. "Very cool."

"It really is!"

There were times when Bakura felt uncomfortable about things from his world being in the City, but so far, Kaiba Land had been a good addition.

"Someday when it's not so late, we should go!"

"Ja!" Momiji exclaimed in German, getting excited by the prospect of going to an amusement park. "We should, we should."

After a moment, he waved a hand to the subway entrance. "You were going somewhere. Am I holding you up?"

Bakura grinned a little at the language slip. So he wasn't the only one who did that! "Nope!" he assured. "I was just going to head home, it's no rush if you want to hang out!"

"Okay. If you'd like, I wouldn't mind the company." He offered, playing with his hands as way to use up some of his energy. "We can do whatever you want!"

"I don't mind at all!" Bakura smiled happily. Really, he loved company. He'd spent far too many years of his life alone to turn it down!

However... there was one hitch. "Hrrmm.. where should we go..." he mused.

Not that there was nowhere to go, but rather quite the opposite!

Momiji couldn't be happier. He was much in the same boat as Bakura; he spent a lot of his childhood alone. Getting time to be around friends, even new ones, was exciting to him.

"Ah, is there anything in particular you'd want to do? Anything you haven't done in awhile?" Momiji didn't have many ideas about what to do either. He usually worked off whims and when he didn't have something tugging at his mind, he just wandered until he found something interesting.

Bakura looked thoughtful a while. Things he hadn't done in a while... Well, chess in the park, but the weather was still wrong for that.. he'd been going to the museums far more than usual because of Quatre... it was too late in the day to go to Kaiba Land if he wanted to at all eat dinner, going to the bookstore just didn't seem like it would fit...

He gave a grin. "Arcade?" While the one in the Mancave was quite nice, Hiruma couldn't get EVERY game in it!

Momiji gave a nod of affirmation. "That sounds fine to me! Led to way Bakura-kun!" Games sounded fun, even though he was rather sure Bakura would beat him senseless in every one.

It would all depend what sort of game it was. DDR, or a first person shooter, Momiji would have a good chance!

Bakura grinned, nodding as he started off. "There's a really good one, not too far! It's two floors with all sorts of games!"

DDR would led to useless flailing from Momiji. He wasn't the best dancer.

Momiji found himself skipping along side Bakura for the second time that week. "Sounds good! I didn't go to ones that big back home."

That would be about on par with Bakura's lack of skill. Despite Anzu's attempts at teaching him, he was just no good at it!

"Heeee, you didn't? Then we really need to go!" Bakura laughed. "The big ones are great! Even if reeeeally loud!"

"I don't mind the noise!" It would be a lot better then the silence of his apartment. Besides he was used to large groups and lots of excited hullabaloo. "We didn't have a very big one in town, so I never got the chance." He explained, still skipping. "I didn't go very often either, so be prepared! I'll be very bad at the games."

Bakura covered a soft laugh. "Then I'll be sure to go easy on you!" he assured. "We had a real big one back in Domino, bigger than this one! But games were really important, so it makes sense."

One of the few things he missed from back home. Not that he missed when the games got serious, not at all!

"You don't have to! I'll just have to try harder." He decided, laughing in turn. Games being important sounded just dandy to Momiji. "So everyone in your world liked games? Sounds like everyone was really focused on having fun."

Bakura covered a small laugh. "Aaa, I don't know if I'd go that far! But everyone plays Duel Monsters, to the point where Kaiba-kun closed down most of Domino for a tournament that had so many people in it, it was full! And that was just the people that were good enough to join! And in the future, there are going to be schools for playing it and apparently it even replaces wars somehow!"

He still wasn't quite sure how that would even work. Especially if the Items were gone. But really, the longer he was in the City, the less he really cared about Domino and Duel Monsters.

"That's a lot of importance placed on a game." Momiji said, looking startled. Replaced wars? He supposed it was a much more peaceful solution to fighting. "I can't imagine going to school just to learn a game. But I guess it could be more fun then math."

"Un. Though I can sort of understand it to some point, with everything around it!" Bakura rubbed the back of his neck a little. "Since it's based on something that was real! And I don't know if I'd want to go to school for a game, it might start to be like work! And then what would you do to have fun?"

"Ah, so it's like a tradition." That made it seem a little less strange. If it was ingrained in their world's events, then it would make sense for people to think so highly of it. But really, who was he to judge? "That's true. If you have to do something then you lose your love of it."

"Maybe then people would turn to real school work for fun."

"Not really tradition, something old that was remade. Not that anyone really knows it was old!" Minus a select few who had a very close experience with the true nature of the game...

He covered a laugh. "Aaa, I can't see that ever happening!"
