[Kenzi has spent the week beforehand getting everything ready for Sunday. So by the time the day rolls around the kitchen counters are laden with various party foods. Bowls of chips and dip, a vegetable plate for anyone that wants something healthy, cookies...just the usual stuff. As far as drinks go Kenzi has a big ice chest waiting for any drinks anyone brings. She's provided some beers and sodas, there's also some bottled water and juice in there. Anything else is up to those coming.

All the hard stuff has been hidden as Kenzi doesn't plan on sharing. But there are some jello shots that might have just a bit too much vodka in them in the fridge.

Kenzi takes one last look over everything to make sure it's all ready before flopping down on the couch to wait. She didn't give a specific time for people to drop by, which now that she thinks about it she probably should have. Oh well. For now she'll just wait.]

I'd let you otherwise. But he finds it bad enough when I burn whatever I do try to cook. [Hence why she eats take-out so much.]

What... do you know how to cook? [ He rubs his hand, trying to soothe the irritation away. ]

[wisecracked]

Grilled cheese sandwiches...and...not much else.

[Kenzi glances at his hand.] You okay?

[invoking]

Even that doesn't sound completely healthy.

Huh? [ He looks to his hand, raising it just to show her there's no actual bruising. ] It... did you do something with your power just now? [ To his hand, he means.

Strange question, he knows. ]

[wisecracked]

It's not really. But y'know me.

[She stops at the doorway that lead to the balcony and raises a brow.] No. Why?

[invoking]

My hand started to hurt just when you did that.

[wisecracked]

[She stares at his hand.] When I did what? Used my TK?

[invoking]

[ He nods, flexing the fingers slowly. ]

The seal on the hand was acting up, I think...

[wisecracked]

[Well there's only one way to know for sure, test it. So she releases the bowl and lets it float in the air in front of her as she puts on her jacket.]

[invoking]

[ The hand jerks again, a sharp pain shooting down and up his arm at the same time. It hurts more in the center of the hand than anywhere else, but his entire hand shakes anyway. ]

What the hell--?!

[wisecracked]

[Kenzi immediately grabs the bowl of chips out of the air and stares at his hand.] Oh dude, sorry! I guess I uh...wait, it didn't used to do this before?

[invoking]

Sometimes, it acts strangely... [ He answers in between a pant. That hurt. ] But what connection can it have to your power?

[wisecracked]

Huh... I dunno maybe it detects active powers? I mean, it wasn't hurting when I wasn't using my TK right?

[She shrugs and turns to open the door.] Y'still want that smoke, right?

[invoking]

It's only ever acted like this when-- [ Never mind, that's too difficult to explain to Kenzi. ]

The Raven seal shouldn't act up like that. [ A beat as he looks past the door. ] Right.

[wisecracked]

[Except when you start a thought Kenzi expects you to finish it.] When?

[She waits for him to go out then follows after, shutting the door behind them both. The balcony isn't huge but it's big enough for a couple chairs and some standing room.]

[invoking]

[ It at least provides privacy. He rifles through his pockets for his cigarette case and flips the lid open, gingerly taking one out of his cigarettes. ]

Usually when the hand on Oz's incuse moves. [ Which is why it bothers him so much. Time is supposed to be frozen back home, but if it's acted up due to the incuse moving forward... ] I used Raven to seal the power Oz obtained when he came out of the Abyss. The chain he contracted with... it's extremely powerful.

[wisecracked]

Oh. [Kenzi flops into one of the chairs, curling up a bit against the cold.]

So back home it'd hurt if the incuse thing moved but here it's...being wonky. That's the 'porter for you, I guess.

[invoking]

... Right.

[ He lights the end of his cigarette after pocketing the case and pulls his own coat closer with a hand, the other bringing the cigarette to his lips for a long needed drag. ]

It's not possible that Oz's incuse has actually moved.

[wisecracked]

Right, because that would either mean we're somehow connected to back home and time has started moving there ooooor he's here in the city. Which I'm pretty sure you would have been aware of.

[invoking]

[ Well, there's only one way to find out. ]

Can you do it again? Your power...

[ He's not sure what else besides the cigarette he can offer for her to try and float. ]

[wisecracked]

You sure? It really seemed to hurt you.

[invoking]

It's not so bad. I need to confirm this, right?

[wisecracked]

A'ight. [Kenzi digs some change out of her jacket pocket and floats it out of her hand, making the coins dip and spin in the air.]

[invoking]

[ His hand jerks again. ]

Ah!

[wisecracked]

[And she immediately lets the change drop back into her hand.]

I...think that's pretty conclusive, huh?
