WHO: Kenzi, Gilbert and maybe a Piccolo?
WHERE: Kenzi and Piccolo's place
WHEN: 2/20; evening
WARNINGS: Drunk Kenzi...
SUMMARY: Kenzi drunk dialed Gil and he decided to check on her.
FORMAT: Quickthings
[Well that was embarrassing! Kenzi had, for a moment, forgot where she was and thought she was calling Bo. Instead she got Gil, talk about rude wake up to reality. She hung up quickly because she didn't want to explain she called because she thought she was calling Bo. God, she missed her best friend. Admitting it to people just made it hurt more.
At least that's over now, right? She won't have to explain anything.
She flops down on the couch with some chips and starts flipping through the channels. She just wants to find something boring to watch and fall asleep now.]

You don't even realize there's anything missing though. Unless you're one of the one that returns here and doesn't remember ever being here.

What she says next makes that strange prickle in his temple return. He knows there's something in his memories trying to find its way back to the surface. Not here, though. Not now. He knows about Jack (or he thinks he does) and it's enough. ]
I think a part of you would still try to find those memories. Perhaps they wind up buried deep within us.
no subject
Maybe. I was only back home for a couple hours so I never even had time to wonder if there was something I was forgetting. [Yeah, she was too busy worrying about bleeding to death.]

You as well, huh. I'd... been ported out before, but I was gone for months before I was brought back here.
[ A lot had happened in that short range of time, however. ]

It was only a day...maybe a little more than a day here. Coulda done with more time back home though. Coming back injured isn't fun.

He took off everything but the shoes. How did he let that slip by him? He finally gets to untying the laces, not wanting to walk around the place with them. ]

[She yawns and stretches before lightly poking his side.] So, gonna lay with me?
no subject
Still going on about that?!

No, April doesn't count. ]

... A-Alright, I suppose. [ He murmurs, like someone is going to catch him in the act of doing something wrong.
But it is kind of wrong... he thinks.
He gulps again and brings his legs onto the mattress, leaning back slowly. One would think he doesn't know how to lay on a bed properly from the way he's stretched uncomfortably on it. ]

Thank you, Gilbert.

What for?

He continues to look confused. ]
Um... you're welcome? [ She's still drunk, he supposes. ]

It's a strange sort of freedom he doesn't comprehend yet, but he doesn't think he could ever be like that. Just rear his head back and laugh at something that would be mighty embarrassing.
In a way, he envies Kenzi's freedom there.
After a few more minutes, he's careful to slip off the bed and he walks over to her side, adjusting her head on the pillow and pulling the covers over her. He also checks her temperature in case. Nothing a good night sleep won't cure. However, he'll clean up the place anyway and make some soup for her to eat in the morning.
As Gil makes his way out of the room, flicking the light off, he pauses to linger at the doorway and look back at Kenzi. She looks like she's at peace in her sleep.
He smiles and pulls the door in, heading to the kitchen to get what he needs to clean. ]

She may appear at peace in her sleep but the opposite is true. What isn't known about Kenzi is that she rarely gets a night of sleep that isn't filled with nightmares. What she wouldn't give for dreams of rainbows and unicorns and fields of flowers but instead she gets to relive horrible things she's seen or had happen to her. That's assuming she dreams at all. Most of the time she goes to be too drunk to dream, or to be affected by her dreams.
Tonight isn't a dreamless night. Maybe an hour after Gil left the room Kenzi's eyes snap open to find herself in the dark. She gropes around on the opposite side of the bed to find it empty. For a few moments she simply lies there, trying to decide if he was ever there at all.
Eventually she rolls out of bed and makes her way out into the kitchen for a glass of water.]

Gil is sitting at the table, going through his communicator-- actually browsing the Internet! Sort of. He's only reading the news.
He hears footsteps and leans his head in to see, then is surprised when Kenzi appears. ]
Should you be up so soon?
no subject
I was thirsty and I don't exactly sleep a lot as is. [She usually just gets naps here and there unless she's passed out from drinking or completely exhausted herself. Only then does she sleep for hours on end.]
no subject
That's no good, you know.
